Lady_Outlaw,

I agree completely. I am not the hardcore power gamer so I couldn't make it early. I also did something stupid like read the manual and thought engineering would take me to weapons AND smuggling. Imagine my shock when I finally got familiar enough with the interface to see the skill trees and the "Adventure Manual" didn't match...

I am mostly interested only in the slicing and spice tree for now. Exploration and adventure is what Ireally want to get out of this game and the thought of a business doesn't really appeal to me. The night I almost lost it in the Agrilat Swamp was the most exciting night in the game for me so far. Would love to something like it every day but you can't do that in a shop.

I've yet to see a single Smuggler on my server, thankfully. Seems to me that most of the Smugglers are on the same couple of servers.

I'm not naming my server, as I don't want to give anyone ideas. I like it just the way it is.

I chose this as a role playing profession - and when someone says they they need a container sliced - I send them a /tell that I can do it - if they keep their mouths shut about it, "It's just between you and me kid".

That's just me - I'll always be a smuggler. someday I hope they put in locked doors - extra levels on elevators that can only be reached by slicing the elevator controls - secret rooms with secret panels - I HAVE A DREAM. Regardless - I'll always be a smuggler in my heart.

I totally agree. The way I was planning on being a smuggler was to bea DE and smuggle stuff.I think that Smugglers need hidden compartments(Data, Storage, etc.)for Droids. It'd make thing more interesting. Of course random searches by security types in the cities would be interesting too.

I like theideas about the rooms and such!

BanthaTracks made a great point with the criminal factions taking greater part. Maybe we could have smuggler factions, where, like the reb/imp factions you can attack other criminal orginizations.

Get faction points for killing those pesky undercutting slicers!!

Someone selling spice to school children...and you're not getting a cut, kill them!!

Then the game needs to add Spice delivery missions to make Spice something to work for, because right now, I have no intrest in cooking spice whatsoever.

PLUS, I feel that the Pistoleer's combat tree if better than the Dirty Tricks tree, and have been dumping points there instead.

As for price fixing(feel free to undercut me). I plan on charge 100 cr per percent increase. This is fair to the customer and provides a range of profit from 1000 to 3000 cr currently. More importantly I don't plan on "hawking" my skills. If I'm going to be a merchant, I will resell sliced weapons. Heck I've been selling sliced cdef carbines on the bazaar for 750cr and this is during my skill up phase (since I only have slicing 2).

*Note I don't have to buy Weapon upgrade kits since I can make them myself. It took 3 days of harvesting(30 minutes a day) 5 hours of grinding (I filled my inventory up with flow analyzer nodes) to get WeaponSmith. So that might skew the price somewhat*

I feel as a smuggler I am only out for one person and that person just happens to be me. I mean in a thieves guild u are friends with ppl of that same trade, but how many of them do u really trust? I have friends that I will slice for free, an maybe anyone else, if they are nice, I mean u dont see Doctors asking for money to heal u, but i always tip them. We are a fighting profession money shouldnt be as much an object to us others, but at the same time we are trying to make money anyway we can, so I can see both sides of the argument. Anyway we will see what happens.

Yah in 3 weeks everyone will be a Bounty Hunter, so we dont have to worry. I only see maybe 3 smugglers a day in Bestine and we work together to sell spice, i try and not compete with them.

I think as the game gets older, more and more people will work with just the skills they want instead of feeling they have to master a given proffession. Personally, I am only going to learn slicing and dirty fighting from the smuggler tree. I'll let the rest of you grug czars work on the spices and underworld line. I figure I want my character to be a jack of trades, master of none type. That's always been the kind of character I liked to play in the past....

Ah yes ... the old pricefixing issue. You realise it is illegal in the real world?

So we shouldn't price fix because its illegal? Hello...do you know what profession this is?

You realize that whatever price you agree to, someone will still undercut you?

Pricefixing only works if everyone agrees to it. In other words, in an MMORPG it will never happen.

No. What you fail to see in your short sightedness is that not every smuggler has to be in on the idea because human nature comes into play.

In this game money is not in short supply. The difference between a 2000cr slicer and a 10k slicer is 3 or 4 minutes work for the average player and they are impatient.

If I see two buff lines side by side, one for 8k with 6 people in it and one for 12k with 2 people in it I'll pay the 12k. Same is true with smugglers. They'll pay you 10k and more because they dont want to wait till you get on.

If this was the real world I'd agree that it was wasting time, but it isnt. The credits you own are not real and they have less value. The time you sit at your computer always has the same value.

Give it up now before you waste any more effort.

Tell that to the people on Flurry and Eclipse and all the other servers who have it working nicely.

I've been charging 3k per slice since a bit over a month after release.

Only a few times have I been turned down and when I see others slicing I just move on and do something else, mostly I get a rather large tip on top of the 3k.

I don't spam slicing advertisements and mostly have repeat customers, referals and people that contact me when they see me in search or standing around.

I see no need to price fix, lower prices, raise prices or undercut anyone.

I like the fact you will pay 10k for doc's that last 3 hoursor 5k for musician/dancer buffs but wil not charge 5k to slice weapon/armor.

At least the slice (aka a permanent buff) last until the weapon/armor falls apart (that mostly because people do not bother to repair items)
