Thread: Smuggler: The trendy prof.
"Smuggling Code of honor"
We're Smugglers! Smugglers do whats best for them, they dont have a league or club.
In essence Smugglers need to be Smugglers. Undercut, cheat, steal,lie...Nothing is above um.
Smugglers aren't super popular on Lowca, I think we have a territorial thing going, we all have found a niche in the planet/town we live on. I hang around Kaadara and none of the other regular smugglers that I know of there are slicing weapons yet. Go to a different city/planet and see whats there, you just might find your niche (and a lot of locked containers
Iv started working on weaponsmith so that i can just slice my own weapons and open a shop instead of running all over the place yelling and competing with other smugglers. And im also looking to working with other weapon and armorswiths andjust cutting the middle man out of the whole thing.

I think the problem your seeing is that there are only 3 combat professions! Smuggler, Bounty Hunter and commando.
Commando is soooo broken its not playable. Bounty hunter is 100 times more popular then smuggler. Then you have smuggler. Less played then it should be percentage wide.
So you have two choices. Bounty hunter the super uber class currently (which should get nerfed soon to remove their uber +bonuses to weapon and leave them with just special abilities like the smuggler). OR the smuggler class.
If you want to see less smugglers then your going to have to ask them to make our weapons do 1 damage like the commandos or ask for more classes!
Playing on Chilastra, there are some, but not a lot, smugglers, and those I had chat with seemed decent enough folks.
We'll see where the smuggler goes. What I'm afraid of is all the PvP Doodz going there for Underworld and faction bonuses. One of the reasons I think this tree has nothing to do with smuggling and smugglers, imho.
No there are 3 hybrid combat professions all the others are elite (they only need one level4 skill)
But without somekind of fixed price in a week we could all be slicing weapons for 350 per weapon andi don't think anyone wants that.
Actually, if you all consider Smugglers to be criminals, then the crime world is much more harsh when it comes to squelching competition and the free market. Crime syndicates evolve to control prices, control supply andmonopolizeillegal markets.
The game really should give the Hutts, Dark Sun and other criminal organizationsmore of a presence in the game. You giving spices away for free or slicing weapons for freeon Tatooine? Well, Jabba and Lady Valarianaren't going to be too happy about that considering that's where they make their credits.

There is an even better solution than price fixing. Set your price and if they say no, just don't do it. Eventually the freebies or undercutters will get bored with it when they reach slicing/spices iv and either quit, start a new char, or change proffessions or their practices...
Don't worry, when the larger houses start being sold, and master grade weapons and armor that are highly experimented, you won't have to worry about those who charge less than you, they will have moved on to other things.
I set my prices and keep my prices. Someone wants to haggle, and i don't find them to be reasonable, I tell them to get lost.
I didn't take smuggler to be trending or even to be wanted by anyone else - I took it for me - 'cause that's what I am. I don't even advertise my services - I slice my own weapons because I want them faster or more powerful. When I fail on one of mine - I destroy it - or give it away. I do the same for containers - mine or my friends - no one else even knows I'm a smuggle except the weaponsmith who makes my upgrade kits - and if he talks - he know's what'll happen to him.
I knew from the first day that I wanted to be a smuggler - just because that's "me". I bought up every locked container on the bazaar I could scounge up - I had close to 50 containers when I made novice smuggler. Within 1 hour of making novice I had my first skill level in slicing. That was the last of my grinding. I slice terminals for me an my groups. I slice containes for me, my friends, and my group. I slice weapons the same way. Once I can do armor - which is slow going now - since I don't really grind at at - I will do that the same way. I don't want everyone to know I'm a smuggler - what fun is that. Hopefully when the get the profession fixed I will be able to do other things like really smuggle stuff for my friends and myself.
I chose this as a role playing profession - and when someone says they they need a container sliced - I send them a /tell that I can do it - if they keep their mouths shut about it, "It's just between you and me kid".
That's just me - I'll always be a smuggle - if just for the slicing. I hate locked containers - and someday I hope they put in locked doors - extra levels on elevators that can only be reached by slicing the elevator controls - secret rooms with secret panels - I HAVE A DREAM. Regadless - I'll always be a smuggler in my heart.
My Johny is a dopehead Hacking fist fighting gunslinger no stinking merchant.
I have seen a few smugglers around good for them. I have seen alot of bounty hunters good for them. I have seen merchant smugglers good for them. I have seen alot of almost every class except maybe chef and I've seen a few of those. Complaining about other people making you class is a waste of time cuz they are going to do what they want what ever you think. So instead of worrying about what others are doing start planning your next big hunting adventure or big sale or the next battle.
