There are only two criminal professions in the game.
Smugglers and BHs
Jedi are really free radicals.
BHs can assassinate targets.
Smugglers cover the rest of the range. When you think about it every item in the smuggler profession is some sort of crime.
Sliceing is illegally makeing weapons different. Spices are useing toxic chemicals to boost player stats. Talking to jawas is really dealing with chopshop artists, and smuggleing is about sneaking past security.
Smuggler is just the all around criminal prof in the game. That being said I do not think you can be pro sliceing and anti spice. It really lacks a kind of logic.
Its like that bit chris rock did about rapeists in prison. So what I am an axe murderer but you have problems.

There are a lot of criminals that don't use drugs, and a lot of druggies that are in no other way criminals. Hard to be a con man, and complete a smuggling run when you're whacked out of your mind pool. Just because Smuggler's CAN choose to be spice-fiends doesn't mean all of them are, or even that it goes with the territory. Drug use isn't a profession decision.

BHs aren't criminals. How do you figure they are?
Smugglers are criminals...by definition they move goods in violation of import/export restrictions or without paying tarifs.
Unfortunatley we don't DO any smuggling by ANY accepted definition of the word. The so-called 'crackdown', even beefed up as on TC, doesn't make us smugglers. ItCOULD if they did it correctly but until a player wants us to group with them in order to avoid scans then it is utterly useless as smuggling content. Have ANY of you had a player ask for your services to avoid a scan? I haven't.
Until such time as we can actually smuggle we are NOTHING but Generic Criminals. In fact I'd prefer it if the changed the profession name to Master Generic Criminal. At least we could dance our dance then.

BHs are not criminals. They use weapon permits and take contracts, kill or capture known felons. But they are not criminals. There are only 2 criminals in the game. As much as I hate Jedi, they & smuggler are the only ones.

Ok, the assumption that all BH are criminals is false. In theory they just pick up their "cargo", and return it to the authorities. But a BH can choose to be a criminal by picking up contracts on people posted by other criminals. Thats not working for the good guys, so to speak. A bounty hunter could go through their career just picking up what they thought were actual law breakers.
Also, things like blowing up buildings and innocent bystanders (like bossk maybe) would be criminal. I do believe BH in SWG generally lend themselves more toward the criminal side of things, but hat doesn't exclusively mean they have to be criminals. And they also weren't labled as all criminals in Star Wars cannon.

Plus I think the original post was that the person posted was upset that all we seem to be is drug dealers or slicers. Not so much to give up the spice skill tree. I don't want to give it up, I just don't ever feel the need to use it. I generally have 6mill on me at all time just from slicing. It makes me money so I'm free to do other things. Spices to me are too time consuming. I'm fine with the tree. I just haven't used it for about 6 months.

BHs are contract killers. I was kind of sad about that in the game. I thought I would atleast get the option to take this man alive. I remember going up and conning for the option to realize I had none. Hell I remember saying the messages bhs are supposed to deliver. Being worried if I did not deliver the message I would not get the reward.
I would say half the bounty missions are from others then the law. A farmer saying I just know this guy killed my daughter. After awhile as BH you just stop careing what the mission is about and why they want this guy dead. So I would say only the most panzy snowwhite BH is the entire game. Has bothered to quote go after only the bad guys.
Lets um read the title of this thread. Take the second read it. I think the topic is more anti drug then pro smuggle.

My only two disappointments with the spice aspect of smuggler are:
1) the requisite whine about the lack of real smuggling in the game. [Can we please stop whining about this? Everyone's gotten the message. People who don't even play this game have gotten the message. Everyone, please do yourself a favor and try to go 36 hours without posting about the lack of smuggling.]
2) This is my real complaint about spice in the game: The total lack of school-children that we can push our spice on. I long to hang around play grounds in my hooded cloak with my "Come on, kid -- the first one's free" spam running.
Some of us stick to the "I'm not in this for your revolution. I'm in it for the money." motto that Han so quicklywimped out on. Don't like spice? Don't make it. Don't sell it. Don't use it. Finish the grind and move on to slicing or whatever else you became a smuggler for. Leave those of us who like it alone.

Well, Ya'll know how I feel about it.
From the sound of it, spice is about to be changed as a part that CURB thing.I don't imagine that they are going to make it more of a throw away item than it already is.
In fact I would gamble that spice might even be worth a damn- so I have no aspirations of turning it over to some Artisan, Medic or Doctor who already have items in game that make their professions work as they are supposed to.
You don't like spice- don't make it. Leave the rest of those that do alone.

I agree that the potential CURB alterationsto our much debated craftable will likely increase its popularity exponentially.
Makes me wonder just how many more of these "Get rid of Spices" threads we will see should they fall back into popularity...

I don't care if the entire server is beating a path to my door to buy my spices at ridiculously high prices.
I want to play a SMUGGLER not a drug manufacturer.
Now if you want to make is so that I actually have to have SMUGGLING skills, and the inherent dangers,in order to move it from planet to planet then fine I'll call myself a drug SMUGGLER.
But simply crafting the stuff and putting it on a public vendor or the bazaar is absolutely stupid. It has NOTHING to do with smuggling.
Spices, slicing toolsand sliced weapons should not be allowed on vendors or the bazaar. They're illegal for crying out loud.
1. Put the scans at starports so players NEED us to move both sliced weapons and spices.
2. Disallow spices, slicing tools or slices weapons from vendors or the bazaar.
3. Make displaying a smuggler title in the vicinity of law enforcement NPCs a serious hazard. And, put 'contact' NPCs in various locations so players can get a list of on-line smugglers to contact. Make us go UNDERGROUND.
4. Make shouting the sale of illegal items or services in the vicinity of law enforcement NPCs a serious hazard. No more hawking your services while standing infront of Corsec, RSF or Imp NPCs.
5. Allow us to thwart BH tracker droids by teaming with and staying close to Jedi.
THESE things will turn us into smugglers even IF we continue to manufacture drugs and tinker with armor and weapons. Currently we are NOT SMUGGLERS...period, the end.

CanI get a QFE?
Cloudchasing, I think your posts are completely fine. Until I see proof that this guy actually reads other posts in this forum, I want him out as well.
I think I'd call him a Ferrous Cranus.
