V E E L A "her royal hawtness"
I am Jack's Smirking Revenge. I am Jack's Ignored Profession.
Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

Nice! There are just a very few modifications I'd suggest chime in with:

SpinningCloud wrote:

1. Put the scans at starports so players NEED us to move both sliced weapons and spices.

-- absolutely.

2. Disallow spices, slicing tools or slices weapons from vendors or the bazaar.

-- Spices, yes. Sliced weapons... maybe. slicing tools, nah. Is this b/c I want easy access to the tools of my trade? no. These are just hardware tools. They shouldn't be illegal to sell. In fact, here's a RL example: you can walk into a 'novelty store' and purchase what everyone in the world knows is a one-hit pot smoker. They sell them under a sign that says 'tobacco use only', so if those are legal to sell, it is easy to believe that a molecular clamp is too.

3. Make displaying a smuggler title in the vicinity of law enforcement NPCs a serious hazard. And, put 'contact' NPCs in various locations so players can get a list of on-line smugglers to contact. Make us go UNDERGROUND.

-- I'd love to work out of the back rooms of cantinas or someplace even more remote and deserted: The Lucky Despot

4. Make shouting the sale of illegal items or services in the vicinity of law enforcement NPCs a serious hazard. No more hawking your services while standing infront of Corsec, RSF or Imp NPCs.

-- tough to enforce. Check my sig.

5. Allow us to thwart BH tracker droids by teaming with and staying close to Jedi.

-- is that for us to help the Jedi? First I've heard of this idea, but I like it.

Thats right jedis you can get your own personal smuggler stooge. After all we know they are the sidekick class. Thats right go the bull and give him a carton of menthols for your own 100 percent stooge.

Can anything not revolve around jedi.

Nice to see someone else agrees with me that sliced items should not be vendorable. Good luck they crucified me for saying that.

Wow, that is a cool site Veela. I am a forum Kung-Fu Master!

BTW, I think that smugglers ARE drug dealers. They have to sell the spice they skim from their clients right? Mytwo credits...

I would like to see some spices or spice components smuggled only though.

Ana,

I don't care a wit about jedi. But since they are the only players currently hunted by BHs they are the only ones we can 'smuggle'.

The only things in the game atm that seem smugglable are; spice, sliced items and people.

OK, so how about we can not only smuggle Jedi but we can smuggle overt Imps and Rebs? Say when teamed with a smuggler the over flag has a chance of registering as covert. And for a jedi their visibility decreases, tracker droids can't see them and any title and name displayed is removed from view or changed while in proximity to a smuggler. The higher up the skill tree the greater the protection.

Basically though I'm saying that currently only 3 things are 'illegal'. We should be able to smuggle them.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Okay do not kill me for this but here it goes.

Seeker droids can be sent out in threes. Everytime a droid fails to find target the bh can send out another droid. Droids come in crates. So a determined BH will simply slosh droids over and over, and since your jedi pal will simply camp a spot the BH will still find him.

If smugglers get droid block thats just another reason for padawans to master smuggler ontop of the FD.

If the smuggler deflection is too great that BHs cannot overcome it with droids. Then there is no point to try and get that jedi. In which case jedis start becomeing master smugglers or they get smugglers to use as pets. In which case you simply sit there while haveing the jedi on follow, and you afk and walk away from the pc.

All in all it does nothing for the profession except make it a droid breaking monkey.

Smuggleing overt players would work accept for the following.

Most overts of either side will simply waste the npcs, and if the npcs become to strong in the game the end result is the GCW is over. Its still overly simple to avoid imperial npcs. None in moseisley none in coronet none in dearic none in the yavin endor dathomir dantooine lok outposts. The list goes on and on. No rebel in his or her right mind wants to sneak through bestine. No imperial in his or her right mind wants to sneak through bestine.

In a sense there is no reason for a pc to want to be smuggled.

Items would be different if the following were true.

Imperial players got more then a slap on the wrist for slice and spice. Nonfaction players should get shot for spice or slice on the spot by imperial npcs. Rebels should be shot on sight by imperials.

PSSST it dosent matter if your a rebel colonel and you have spice or slice. The stormie instantly recognizes you. This means I need no smuggler. I am toast if I am scanned reguardless.

If the crackdown included seizure from imperials and neutrals of spice and all sliced goods. This would mean a smuggler would need to deliver these items to friends before battles and so on.

Too many loopholes in the security each city should have a roveing imperial probot scanning for illegal goods. With a few obvious exceptions. Coronet anchorhead moenia rebel outpost on rori. That would mean traveling out of those areas would be dangerous, and players could need smugglers to meet them at a location later say before a battle, or a big mission.

Slices should then have the option of temporary slices that last for two hours. So players could use the service, and still keep sliced items. They will just revert with added decay a few hours later. Rebels and non factional players will still be able to get permanant slices. Since they get shot for them anyway. While a imperial getting caught with the slice loses a full rank, and gets fined. With every offense the imperial member will learn the imperial forces do not condone drugs and slices.

Technically, if we stick to the true SW storyline, cloning is illegal too.

I like being a drug dealer, personally, but I certainly wouldn't want that to be something we all HAVE to be. I WOULD like if it remained open to me as a smuggler, however.

And personally I'm more put off by our best combo making us Gun-Fu Ninja Smugglers than drug dealing.
