We need to be careful we don't hose ourselves up with something that will only do half the job.
Mask Scent only works on critters and right now conceal does not work against NPC characters.
I haven't come to any good conclusions on what I need as a pure smuggler yet.
We need to considerthe skills and abilitites of aSmuggler without any other professionall skills.
I'm a combination Smuggler and Commando so my melee defenses are non-existent where a Smuggler/ TKM has very good melee defenses.
Beefing up LB and PS could remove the need for escape and evsion skills. Although these would be nice to have.
Adding forgery to the UW tree would add some additional flavor to that tree.
Adding additional defensive skills to Dirty Fighting and ifdesired put the escape and evasion skills in this tree.
It also seems that every other profession has at least one tree that is unique to the profession andthe skills in that tree are usableonly byspending SP to obtain the box. Maybe the new tree ashould be devited entirely to smuggling,As the Smuggler levels up the ability to smuggle larger amounts and allow a more varied cargo to be smuggled through increasingly difficut "checkpoints".
For instance a Novice cold smugggle 25 cases of pixie while a level 1 smuggelr could smuggle 50 case of pixie and 50 cases of muon.
A Master Smuggler could smuggle everytihing he or his ship could carry through the toughest checkpoints.
just my thoughts

I"ve suggested the following for use when, and if, we have player BHs after us;
1. BH term slicing to remove our names,
2. Decoy droids to foil BH tracking droids, or BH droid scrambling skills,
3. Temporary name change or hide,
4. BH radar jamming,
5. Landing our ships at other than starports,
6. Underworld contacts that can give us warning and location of BHs that are after us.
SOme of these, at least BH radar jamming, could work against NPC BHs as well.

They may just give us some other things to craft, like the items we need to modify weapons. Or it may be replaced with unarmed skills...

I remeber vageuly reading something posted on the smuggler forums about leaked CU info....something about smugglers being good at crowd control? I'm not sure, but if the leak was accurate or somewhat so, they could implement skills/mods/specials for crowd control into the void left by the defunct spice line.

Crowd control just doesn't seem to be a desirable skill for a Smuggler.
That'd be more of a cop skill.

I personally hope it is not unarmed skills (I have never in the course of my SWG experience been suddenly and unexpectedly caught without my pistol
)
I'd rather see all pistol/unarmed share a tree - call it combat something-or-other, and let the spices tree become something Smuggler-specific (evasion, fake ID, all the coolness already mentioned)

I think that the spices branch will be replaced by a true smuggling branch that will be connected to smuggling missions.

Several times I have pitched the following item:
Disruptor Charge Unit:
This device sends an electric pulse that prevents the firing of ranged weapons within a radius of the smuggler INCLUDING his OWN weapons (radius maximum depends on construction of unit but no more than 40m). The length is 10 seconds (also dependant on construction).

This lil' bad boy would help one escape and could TOTALLY be crowd control. That would be REALLY cool if they used that idea!
I think I had it so you got this schem at DF IV.

c'mon guys, how could we forget the "Pimpin' Branch"?
you could not train any Pimpin' skills until you were a 4/4/4/0 smuggler, thus keeping away dabblers.
Pimpin' I - you are given your pimp suit and top hat. completely customizable by you, including the color. anything from sparklin' emerald to leapord print, if your heart so desires. you also recieve the cert to wear your pimp suit, so that people without at least Pimpin' I could not wear the suit.
Pimpin' II - you recieve the ability "Pimp out my Ride". this skill allows you access to the colors of pure gold, platinum, and chrome for use on your ships and/or vehicles. also you can place some as-yet-to-be-determined form of spinners on said ships/vehicles
Pimpin' III - you recieve the command /pimpslap. this is a combat-escape move to deal with BH's. when successfully executed, the BH will be stunned for 10 seconds, and you have a chance to get away.
Pimpin' IV - ahh yes, now comes the good stuff. at this level you recieve your diamond-studded pimp cane, and the cert for it.the pimp cane is not a combat device. when the cane is equipped, your movement is defaulted to the "pimp walk" which is kinda like the current animation for /strut, except u can control where u go. you recieve the emote/animation /canetwirl as well. this can be executed while standing still or pimp walking. you also of course recieve a title at this level, I was thinking "Pimptastic" would be a good one, who wouldn't want that? for example...
Allanon Ordo (OoC)
(Colonel)
(Pimptastic)
Master Smuggler - you now recieve the emote/animation /pimp
/pimp: *You declare yourself the Pimp-Daddy!*
/pimp self: *You brush your shoulders off*
/pimp other: (master smuggler) *You tell Joe Smuggler to dust his shoulders off* *Joe Smuggler dusts his shoulders off*
/pimp other: (non-master smugg) *You tell Jim to dust his shoulders off. No wait! he's no pimp, he can't!* *You dust Jim's shoulders off for him*
and you know how on the loading screen it plays the star wars theme? well master smugglers would have the choice to change the music to the song P.I.M.P by 50 Cent.
what do u folks think?

That is the single greatest idea ever. One question though, does the pimp suit come with a cape?

We're smugglers. We're not pimps, whoremasters, legitimate businessmen, or panderers--we're smugglers.
