Thread: LAST ditch exploit in pvp

First off bub, learn to read. There is all sorts of posts here explaining exactly what LD is. It is a true last ditch, it will not work unless you are close to death, and then it is not gaunteed to hit. After you use it all of your health and mind is gone. Lastly 3 out of 4 times the user is incapped too. Nextime don't be stupid and stand next to a BH that is getting @%% haned to him by a Storm Trooper.

I hate to say this but it needs a fix or something because thats ridiculous. ON my rifleman I can't even hit for more then 3k and this guy went overt slapped a stormie and then shot me with a dx2 for 6k, and then shot my jedi friend for 6k on the round.
Well, In a way that works perfectly with the time line, as the Storm Troopers want all Jedi dead anyways. As a BH/Smuggler, I had never thaught of this personaly...... I thaught Jedi were not sopposed to be hanging around cities? Hard to run across both a Jedi and a group of storm troopers (and a place to go special forces for that matter (unless he had a bounty and was only combatant?)), in the wilderness. I don't see how this is really exploitable at all.... Maybe he's a really good Smuggler...... Or the Jedi isn't very good(Doesn't Defenders get Avoid Incap, which pritty much makes them gods for 4 minutes?), either way this seems like very small beans...

Opposite faction on the same server. But i totaly AGREE, seems we Smuggler need to get ready to defend every special we have... Probably even panic shot and overwhelming shot. Our specials are really good for the first time in the history of the game. And all these other professions thing we should take a back seat to them. We Smugglers are a very real threat to Jedi, and they know it. I like the Smugglers we are becomming!

As a fellow glowstick wielder who has been hit with the uber skill last ditch, I empathize with your plight of not being able to win without trying. I, personally, think slapping a stormie to get health down and then using last ditch as an opening move is horridly cheap. The stormies need to be fixed, not the special. I, personally, also think you're a liar.
First, the special known as last ditch has a *huge* cool down. Longer than any other special I've seen. To say he hit you then hit your friend the next round shows you either were strung out on some time altering drugs, or are a liar. I'm sticking with the latter. After all, the best evidence to support your claims don't exist so it's best to just make them up.
I'm also sorry that you can only hit the 3k damage in a single shot mark. Being able to one hit incap anyone in the game as an opening shot with no major hit to health action and mind, but only if they're not wearing armor, must be a real drag. I feel for you.
I really do. I understand well the desire to be uber and be able to do the best damage with no risk. I understand wanting to walk through the valley of death unscathed and pick up all the chicks afterwards. And to this end, I'll help you out.
We, the smuggler community, have listed many many many times how to counter our own special. So I won't repeat myself yet again. Look them up yourself and be educated. After all, like NBC says, the more you know...

Not sure if this is carryover from the Starsider forums or not, but there was a thread today of someone using LD on a pretty consistent basis to one-shot Jedi in Theed. I said there that I don't really view this as an exploit so much as something that I wouldn't do. Personally, if the person were in my guild, they'd be told to stop it. Jedi deserve the chance to fight back or even flee. Use Last Ditch all you want, but make sure the damage comes from the Jedi you use it on rather than a stormtrooper or other NPC.
I firmly believe that Smuggler, Bounty Hunter and Jedi need to be made mutually exclusive professions. I would never consider mixing Smuggler and Bounty Hunter, as the two seem diametrically opposed to each other. Coupling our specials with the BH/Jedi conflict really opens up the possibility of our effectiveness getting reduced, as BOTH sides keep trying to find ways to cheat the other out of winning. BH got you down? FD, and he can't DB you. BH too tough for you? Drin ksome Pyro, eat a Blob Candy, get incapped and fire off a Last Ditch with the extra accuracy when you get up.
The "trick" nature of our specials make us very desirable for BH and Jedi, and that makes us more susceptible to "nerfs" than pretty much any other profession.
If I had my way, these three professions would be like the pilot professions. You could take only one. If you wanted to change, you'd have to drop all skills and the novice box. Are you a BH? Novice Smuggler isn't an option. Want to go Padawan? Better drop those BH skills first. It's harsh, but to me it seems completely necessary.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

I cant agree more...If there is a profession needing some fixing its the Jedi. 1.5 times stronger than class 80 characters my a$$...there are Jedi Templates out there that are 4-5 times stronger. Check my posts to see how many times I've been to the Jedi forums hating on your prof. The answer is 0. Stay out of our forums. You have the character you've always wanted your precious Jedi why do you need to be in everyone elses mix. These are the type of thing that make me wanna see them bring back perma death for Jedi. STAY AWAY.

I know what you mean. It leads me to think I should make a thread about Last Ditch, and see if I can get it made into a sticky.

I wasn't on my jedi for one. Secondly I suggest that to use last ditch you must be in combat first not initiating combat. Well I guess /unstick into your houses and killing who ever is a jedi is ok to? OR how about I use an exploit to break into your house and steal all your items? They think it's not exploits either. Here's the thing. While overt a smuggler can do this as initiating combat. I haven't seen last ditch ever miss. Add a "to hit" modifier to it. It shouldn't be a permanent "I Win" button.Message Edited by larryburns on 06-21-2005 06:50 PM
PUH-lease. The reason this isn't an exploit is because this is working by it's design. This is what's supposed to happen.
Learn to be careful. Duh.
I doubt the Devs will do anything about it.
But I'll give you a workaround to use in the meantime...
If you see an enemy PvP'er get slapped and incapped by a Stormtrooper anywhere near you..... deathblow him. If you can't do that in time, shoot him then deathblow him. It should be an easy kill.
And if you can't bring yourself to do either of the above, or if you're a Jedi and the dude who just got pimpslapped by the trooper may be a BH with your bounty..... RUN! Run far and fast.
Another good workaround for a Jedi... quit whipping out your saber at the starport and stay off the friggin' BH terminals. Really, it's not rocket science here. And don't whine about how you can't get XP without visibility because all you have to do is read the Jedi forum once in a while and the "non-whiney" Jedi will tell you how to do it.
There, problem solved. Now go away.
