Thread: slicing containers
I went 1 for ten yesterday. I was ready to go and jump off a cliff but I decided to go get a beer instead.
Is there a way to tell when it says unlocked containers that it is unlocked. Can't believe I bought 3 of those. lol.
I gave away two free spices with every container I was given to slice, whether I succeeded or failed. Spices are/were exotic enough that people were interested in obtaining some for free. I never paid for a locked container, not once.
Using this method, I made Slicing I in maybe 4 hours of advertising. Along the way, I also made Spices III just by crafting the spices necessary for my give-away. Plus, it was really funny to see all the people puking from my spices. ![]()
I tried all the "lures" like giving things to container holders etc. I tried them at the start and let me tell you they WORKed! Truth is they work very well, but as the days trickle by the are workign less and less. The more people hear that they can make "Phat Lewt" by selling them on the bazaar or whatever the less reasonable they are to come buy.
I like this game because it isn't about "phat lewt drops/camps"
The only suggestion I can offer is that maybe they could find 1 or 2 more types of locked thing-a-ma-doo-hickies that we can open too? That might alleviate some of the backpressure in the container market without making more and more mobs drop containers?

My suggestion is to grind up to Spices 4 and advertise 4 free Neutron Pixie's for each locked container. Spend about 10 minutes at each city and move on to the next one.I did this and in one day (about 6 hours playing time) I had over 20 containers. Then buy some clamps and you're done.
Then just slice terminals and do missions (you can always use the pistol XP anyway) till you can slice weapons. easy and profitable.
I've always assumed that the devs thought there would be either a.) fewer smugglers, or b.) a lot more loot drops. Of all the MMORPGs I've played, SWG has the most paltry loot drops. I assume that this was a decision made in order to support the player economy -- and if so, bravo -- but it is incredibly sad that the smugglers got left in the lurch when they bottomed out the slider on "loot frequency". It's unfortunate that the "loot-only loot" and "generic loot" frequencies are not on separate sliders.
I mean, I cleared out the entire Rogue Corsec base a couple of days ago, must have killed at least 25-30 Corsecs (looking for those elusive gloves). My reward? A singel CDEF pistol. I mean, honestly...
