I went 1 for ten yesterday. I was ready to go and jump off a cliff but I decided to go get a beer instead.

Is there a way to tell when it says unlocked containers that it is unlocked. Can't believe I bought 3 of those. lol.

I gave away two free spices with every container I was given to slice, whether I succeeded or failed. Spices are/were exotic enough that people were interested in obtaining some for free. I never paid for a locked container, not once.

Using this method, I made Slicing I in maybe 4 hours of advertising. Along the way, I also made Spices III just by crafting the spices necessary for my give-away. Plus, it was really funny to see all the people puking from my spices.

I tried all the "lures" like giving things to container holders etc. I tried them at the start and let me tell you they WORKed! Truth is they work very well, but as the days trickle by the are workign less and less. The more people hear that they can make "Phat Lewt" by selling them on the bazaar or whatever the less reasonable they are to come buy.

I like this game because it isn't about "phat lewt drops/camps"

The only suggestion I can offer is that maybe they could find 1 or 2 more types of locked thing-a-ma-doo-hickies that we can open too? That might alleviate some of the backpressure in the container market without making more and more mobs drop containers?

My suggestion is to grind up to Spices 4 and advertise 4 free Neutron Pixie's for each locked container. Spend about 10 minutes at each city and move on to the next one.I did this and in one day (about 6 hours playing time) I had over 20 containers. Then buy some clamps and you're done.

Then just slice terminals and do missions (you can always use the pistol XP anyway) till you can slice weapons. easy and profitable.

I probley shouldn't be posting this but what the heck, Smugglers can be very successful if the practice one trait... they lie. I for one was able to aways promise 100 percent success when slicing, not because I had clamps though sometimes I did but by haveing a few empty containers on hand. If u fail just hand them an empty container they will never know the difference then sell the damaged container on the bazaar for 3000 credits I'm sure one of you have purchased my damaged container and I thank you. As for weapons I used nodes and if I failed I just told them this has already been sliced so I couldn't slice it never got called on it once, but if I had I would have always just blamed it on a game glitch its never your fault first rule of smuggling. That way I can always promise 100percent. This is why not showing stuff is good if u know whats been sliced theres no personality no schemes no chance to cheat and fight your way to the top which is what u should do. And as for the idea of charging 100 credits per percentage I like it I could always pad the percentage a little no one would know the difference customers don't do math. Just a smugglers two cents worth and keep slicing those weapons.

I absolutely refuse to buy a container.. i will slice them for free.. but whatever you do dont buy them from the bazaar, because some people think its funny to put presliced ones there. The role playing in the cantina' s and starport works great.. also try to find a higher smuggler to 1. help off set training costs 2. help you find containers (thier weapon clientel often will have containers to slice) and 3. maybe they will set you up with fans/clamps.

Personally, I bugged the fact that you can't slice the magseal containers in the Cave outside of Kor Vella. They specifically say in the description that you will need 'some kind of key or way to SLICE past the seal'. Sorry I think it's a bunch of crap that there aren't other ways to get the first level of slice other than begging other people for containers. I would encourage others to bug this also.

Wally, you are lower than slime. It's people like you who make miserable experiences for hundreds of other people around you in online games. You should be tortured for days before you die you miserable piece of amoral souless crap.

Maybe a thousand other people have already complained about it, but why do we have to start the slicing tree with containers? I acknowledge that slicing terminals is more rewarding, but I just started smuggler and if it weren't for my guild mates giving me like 20 locked containers, I would never have made it out of there. It seems that since you get less xp from terminals, why aren't they at the base of the tree.

I could answer with a standard bitter "the devs hate us" reply, but in truth I don't think many people know the reasoning behind this. Perhaps it will change with the "Smuggler Revamp" slated for Publish 9.

I've always assumed that the devs thought there would be either a.) fewer smugglers, or b.) a lot more loot drops. Of all the MMORPGs I've played, SWG has the most paltry loot drops. I assume that this was a decision made in order to support the player economy -- and if so, bravo -- but it is incredibly sad that the smugglers got left in the lurch when they bottomed out the slider on "loot frequency". It's unfortunate that the "loot-only loot" and "generic loot" frequencies are not on separate sliders.

I mean, I cleared out the entire Rogue Corsec base a couple of days ago, must have killed at least 25-30 Corsecs (looking for those elusive gloves). My reward? A singel CDEF pistol. I mean, honestly...

true that! If it weren't for a kindly old wookie asking me to slice some containers for him while i was healing up in a med center i dont think i would be anywhere near slicing 1, and i've been a smuggler for over a month. I refused to pay 6000 credits for 250 xp flat out until i was one container away and went through 100 or more meatlumps with nothing but 2 warm hat drops.

Hey now guys, look. I do not want to do anything illegal here.
But I would kill somebody, in front of their own mama, to get a ten speed.

I know someone who just sat and soloed STs in Kor Vella and found tons of containers. She let me have all the ones that she found...hell, I even got two armor attachments out of the them so far! So check out STs that roam towns...
