Thread: story time line and no jedi
It's a good idea (though I think perma death will always be a bad idea for an mmorpg regardless). I think the only reason why the devs wouldn't go for it is because they have this funky idea everybody should be able to do everything and that, my friend, is completely ridiculous. There should be alot of content for everyone, of course, but what's the point of having elite of anything if those elites don't get any content? It's why the black falcon (or whatever the pistol is called) quest made me so happy. There should be ALOT more stuff like that in the game. Jedi being the problem they are, why not start with them to get them in hiding like they're supposed to be. Well, right after the smuggler revamp that is

Well since we are talking about Jedi
I agree the system that is in place is very weak withno story arch no logic just "here are some Jedi". Thing is I believe jedi are still alive in this time line but few and in hiding. In the chaos of a GCW and a Sith Lord ruling the galaxy one could add some really good "lost jedi" content, for example:
Over the last 30years some jedi lost with out the "oder" to guid them may very well have gone to the dark side. Burning with vengance they may have began to study "sith" skills in an attempt to kill Darth Sideous and Darth Vader (stop evil with evil type of thing). Other Jedi who did stay true to the light order would logically want to stop any future Sith from gaining the same type of power sideous has and may very well be seeking out these new Sith. Now you have Jedi vs Sith and because they are so busy killing each other they dont get involved in the GCW (leaving that game for the non-jedi as it should be). The bigger issue of a new Sith order would matter more to the small group of Jedi who are trying to regain a foot hold in the galaxy.
Add perma-death to the mixand you have a smaller jedi population who fight each other.
Just an idea that will never happen but we can dream. /shrug

i like the FS System
You are FS, and if im right you train to become...sensitive...then you get to learn to use the force and learn...about the force as an initiate...
so apparently i learn how to be something i am, and do things i should already be doing, i cant learn the force from a JEDI but i have to learn the force from some old man in the middle of a stupid planet full of other FS weilding things (that use LIGHTNING on me...) that COULD teach me but.. hey... apparenlty jedi masters are too retarded to teach....except for one...NPC on dathomir
Jedi masters ran out of skillpoints and couldn't pick up the mentor boxes needed to teach. Very few prenerf jedi masters exist. The ones that picked it up when it cost 0 skill points. Only problem is that now they can't move unless they drop their skill set. That's why jedi trainers never move around.
Hrm. I wonder what would've happened if you had kept all your skills if you were over after respec was over....
lol

the game like it was before Jedi was pure, clean, and fresh. Now, you just can't go anywhere without seeing a damn glow stick. To be completely honest, I have nothing against those who play the Jedi correctly for the timeline (try to stay hidden.) It's the ones completely dominating the GCW, the ones who duel in front of the starports, and the ones who just wave the glow stick (ignited or not) like it's some kind of souvenier.
Talk about a selective memory! The early game was a mess of bugs, poor balance (eyeshot anyone?) and boredom. By the time Jedi came around, everyone was so bored that EVERYONE began the holo grind.
As for sabers, blame SOE. I lose half my defenses if I don't wield it all the time.
you can sniff out any post that has anything against your precious Jedi.
Duh, the force is my ally.

You get vis that way. Just use the search bar like everyone else. Nobody likes a jedi show off anyways.

when i was young and watched the starwars movies to me darth vader was a bad bad guy.. a very cool bad guy but a villain nonetheless. After playing swg lately i suddnely see him in his true light... the HERO who saved the galaxy from the Jedi menace. Its too bad SOE forgot about this and that Lucas arts continues to let them get away with it.
LOL! It's almost enough to make me go Imperial and worship Lord Vader.
Not to mention they are old and supposed to have been around at the time of the old republic. not reletivley fresh faced whipper-snappers that have only just become jedi since the destruction of the first death star, at a time when there shouldnt be an easy avenue to be trained, butof a physicalage where no jedi would train them, because they are too old.

Yea um, it's been established that there ARE other jedi besides Obi-wan and Yoda. Hell, head to the quenker cave on Dant and you'll find one. There are a lot of them in fact. But not hundreds, and NOT in the middle of Theed waving lightsabers around...
Did you read more then just the first paragraph of my post? I said they were hidden.

yeah, true but then luke would have been too old in the old republic as well but yoda and ben still trained him. Who's to say other hidden jedi didn't do the same?

why dont they? apparently only one does
luke was only FS when he got tossed a lightsaber
i have to do a series of quests to "learn the force"
why cant a jedi just train me? im sensitive to the force, teach me! throw ME a lightsaber!
but oh no it doesnt work that way.... why? because....
