I agree with this to a point. However if someone gives you a pile of sh*t and a couple of rocks you sure as hell can't make a soufle (spl??) with these. So in reply to your comment, YesI believe in making the best of a situation, but I also believe that itdoes not mean you should just accept the situation as is.

Ok folks ... this may be a bit harsh, but here it goes. Your gaming experience is what you make of it.
That said, there is plenty of room for improvement and I agree things will get better as we progress through the combat and ultimately the Smuggler revamps. Find things you enjoy doing, explore ... and if you are like myself and several of my fellow Smugglers on Intrepid, we are working together to be prepared for both JtL and the Smuggler revamp.
Things we are doing:
- Planning
Upon release of JtL, we intend to take a step back from making money. We will focus our efforts working together to advance in our pilot professions.
Upon completion of Master Pilot, we will work together to get as much loot as possible and to build the best ships in the galaxy.
Upon completion of that, we will practice flying together as a squadron and focus on making money where we can until the Smuggler Revamp.
Upon the Smuggler Revamp, we will be in line to be the Smugglers that we should have been a long time ago.
Proper planning andproper execution will ensure success.
To an extent we do accept the situation. We know that we are after JtL ... we know (about ... with no promises) when the Smuggler Revamp will be. So therefore you make the best of the situation. GM kicks butt, and I am confident in his ability to revitalize the profession. I like being a Smuggler, the negotiation ... the underworld characteristics (in theory) ... but we will have a lot of room to improve (can't really go down, can we?) ... So from now until revamp ... make the best, and do what you can to maximize the results of the revamp. Upon revamp then decide if this is really where you want to be. The other two options are either quit now ... or keep complaining which does not solve anything.
I say plan ahead ... think the best ... because I am doing what I want. Sometimes I stand around ... sometimes I slice. Heck, yesterday I gave a Smuggler $1,000,000 for the heck of it. (told him it was a loan...but I never expect to see it again). Last week I gave a noob $100k ... he was hunting alone and I remember how much it sucked. I enjoy making people happy.

While I admire your optimism, Geevo, I don't share it. To be blunt, it sounds like you are going to grind pilot until the revamp comes. Sure, I'm oversimplifying, but it still involves more grinding than playing, which is not what I paid for.
I will grind pilot to an extent, but not to misery. I am actually looking forward to the veteran reward. I have already started buying things to decorate it. I want to go everywhere and explore. Sometimes it will be for missions, others it will be to just look around.

In my experience I can say that I have found the activities I would have to do to grind pilot FAR more enjoyable, fast, furious and fun than any other combat profession.

I think they are heading in the right direction with this in general. Maybe not smugglers specifically yet but they've sure laid the groundwrok for it.

Are any of you guys in JTL Beta? I think a few of the things happening there would make you quite angry. I know Smuggler_Caylin was PISSED!!!! Unless they changed that in the past week.

You know what frosts my cocoa though? It's the fact that I can't discuss JTL issues in the c-forum as we also hold ourselves to the NDA in there. So I can't do much in there...
arent all the correspondents in JTL?
Smuggler_Caylin wrote:The former correspondents who are there may not have signed the NDA that applies to the JTL beta... yet they have access to the c-forum, so we are prevented from talking about it there for the most part.
Here's an answer: make all correspondents register for JTL Beta. why you wouldn't drop all your correspondents into every beta and test center project is beyond me.

Actually, I interpret this more along the lines of "Privateer is to space what Smuggler is to ground. Not what Smuggler should be like, what Smuggler is like NOW."
I won't interject my own beta experiences here, I'm simply expressing how I interpreted what Kelko meant (so there's nothing to see here, NDA-Police).

I might go so far as tointerpret from your post that Privateer is to space what Smuggler was planetside AT RELEASE, although they might have improved a great deal in the last week or so. Again, I'm purely interpreting, so I don't know if that's true based on beta or not. ![]()

In fact, at the moment, I don't even care so much about the combat revamp/balance thing. But it would be nice to have smuggler content upon launch of JTL. Why? because If I am a Master Pilot by then (which I'm sure I will be) then I'll have missed out on the lower level stuff.
