While I admire your optimism, Geevo, I don't share it. To be blunt, it sounds like you are going to grind pilot until the revamp comes. Sure, I'm oversimplifying, but it still involves more grinding than playing, which is not what I paid for.

Little off-subject, but has anyone else been hearing about supposed "promises" by the devs to keep the ground and space games seperate? IE, no ground profs affecting space, and vice-versa. Anyone know where this was said? And in what context? I know that this holds pretty much true for the initial JTL release, but what about after that?

Because if this ideology goes forward, our revamp is screwed. Not that I'd be surprised, but smuggling without space while important to initial revamp promises, is still ridiculous for Star-Wars. I stuck around for JTL in hopes of eventually sneaking an old man and a farmboy out of Mos Eisley, not a sack of fruit and vegetables across the Canadian border.

If the developers ever start working on a Smuggler revamp, which I seriously doubt, they'll probably add content for space and content for land, so both sides will be happy.

I think it comes from some of the discussions on the JTL beta boards. The gist of it is that they are keeping the two somewhat autonomous for now, but that there are plans to betterintegrate the two. A specific profession named wassmuggler, but there was no meat to the discussion.

And Geevo, I fully understand where you are coming from, and if you are committed to sticking it out until the revamp, more power to you. I've come to realize that SWG is no longer enjoyable for me, and JTL does not appear likely to change that, and thus I'll let my subscription expire in November. JTL was my decision point; based on the discussions in this thread and those on the beta boards about Smugglers, the decision became obvious for me.

Are any of you guys in JTL Beta? I think a few of the things happening there would make you quite angry. I know Smuggler_Caylin was PISSED!!!! Unless they changed that in the past week.

I know what he's talking about. It's something that could be Smuggler specific but is open to all Privateers. You've heard the devs talking about the Privateer missions and the Smuggler Alliance. Its based on that. Thats all I'll say because thats public knowledge.

All I can say is smuggler in JTL is keeping in line with the cuurnet state of the Smuggler profession in the ground game.

Grinding pilot... Now there is a phrase I hope never has any real truth to it..

Being a person who absolutely loved XvT and XWA, if done right, I could play JTL for endless hours as a pilot and not see it as the boring endless grind that plagues me on the ground. I will not even play specifically for XP, merely because in the cockpit of a rebel fighter in a twitch-based Flight sim, I canplay to my hearts content and the XP will come in allon its own.

Funny that I have a similar plan to Geevos with friends of mine, we intend to all jump into space and basically dominate the space game, whether or not it takes forever to get master Pilot. Thatit ismore reflexive means that I don't have to be a 'master' in order to be a contender.. I can be a young unproven hotshot 'Ace' =)

Everything the smugglers have wanted since launch without having to be a smuggler.
