Okay. You did 90 rifles. He did 4.5 months worth. Do you see why this is not so convincing?

I know what you mean, I'm just saying it's a little strange that I sliced all those rifles and 90%+ of them were all speed slices.

Coincidence I guess.

interesting info, something to add, recently got 45suits of armour sliced, using tools i created for him (97%) he was originally getting alot of encumberence slicing ran out of my tools about the 200mark used his tools which were a lower % and got a majority effectiveness slices.

Now i don't see any corellation here between the different % of the toolsbecause using a 2nd run of high quality tools produced a majority of effectiveness slices.

In conclusion i believe when the tool is crafted it has some hidden stat which points to the direction of the slice, though no effect on quality out of the first 20suits i think i had about 8 pieces with 40+ encumberence and 5 or 6 pieces with 30+ effectivenvess and roughly the same for the 2nd run of 25suits.

Also to note all these suits came from the same factory run with equal number of experimentation on each pieces.

Now that is VERY interesting. Solid proof that its much more likely to get mid-range.
Next thing to do is to use your program for an expirament.. slice for about a month using really "good" tools with best expiramentation, then use "bad" tools for about a month and then plug those numbers in separately. Would be very interesting to see the results, My bet says there won't be any discernable difference, but its something I think I may try just for S&Gs.

the MOST interesting thing i see here is ZERO slices below 15% on weapons. that leads me to believe this is some faulty data. either that, or you are on some kind of amazing streak to have not hit a roll of 14% or less on armour or weapons in over 4 months of slicing as a master...

my cost to slice one item = 360 cr
i charge 5000 cr to slice one item
using your numbers:
cost: 360 cr x 3298 items = 1,187,280
income 5000 cr x 3298 items = 16,490,000
PROFIT = 15,302,720
very nice for 4.5 months

or you can be the weaponsmith and make that in one month or less.

Speaking of slicing statistics...

I sliced 60+ rifles today as a bulk order. At least 90% of those slices were speed slices, and all of the damage slices except 1 were under 25%.

I'm begining to feel that this isn't exactly random...

TonmaCR86....
Guess what... In my data for this thread I also had a streak like that. The data includes a crate of Laser Rifles in which I got 20/25 speed slices (Okay, only 80%) and most of those speed slices were below average like yours. So you will see streaks that make you doubt the randomness.... but overall, thats all they are: momentary streaks.

So I repeat:In MY OPINION it IS RANDOM, but also VERY STREAKY. Not sure what this means about the SWG random number generator, but I honestly believe that however they implemented it,it's design does lead to certain streaks. Maybe its just the nature of "randomness" in general, but there have definitely been streaks in my 4.5 months.

FOR EXAMPLE:
-- My VERY FIRST TWO armor slices were for 45% !!
-- I could go back and find an early post of mine where, after several hundred slices,I'm marveling that 65% of my armor slices are for Encumberance. Obviously, with the above data, that has evened out, meaning that I've had more Effectiveness slices since then.
-- Last night I had THREE damage slices in a row 32% or over. If you look at the odds of that in my posted data, that is an incredible streak in itself!
-- The crate of laser rifles I mentioned earlier.
-- EIGHTEEN STRAIGHT of the same slice on armor at one point (I dont remember now if it was encumberance or effectiveness... but it was 18 straight!!)

Still... look at the posted data and you will see that it all evens out somehow. If you're having a good streak, ride it and enjoy it. If you're having a bad streak, you might want to quit slicing for a while.

Mor-Dan....
The data is NOT faulty.I recordeach sliceimmediately as I get it. I look at the chat box and at the screen output just to make sure I get the number right.
And notice that I DO have slices of 11-14% on Armor Effectiveness.
I think the whole smuggler community would be real interested if you can geta screen shot of ANYTHING outside the rangesthat I posted.

Hey Wayne...

Thank you for this data.

If you flip a coin 1500 times, you are going to have times when you get heads 20 times in a row. Or you're not. But because it's a 50/50 chance, every single time you flip that coin it will either come up heads or tails, and there's just as much chance for heads as there is tails.

Anything that has a random element to it is prone to 'streaking', because we as humans try to put our surroundings and experiences into patterns.

Too many people think that if they take a sampling of 50 or 100 slices, that it's a good indicator of what the percentage chance is. As they continue to collect data, as you have, they would have seen exactly the same results you have.

So thank you for shutting up everyone and hopefully ending the debate over the randomness of slices.

I really want to see the slicing statistics by item type. I don't doubt the randomness at all. But having sliced a dozen sets of composite armor I have seen a skewed pattern. Only once have I sliced a Helm for encumbrance. Only twice have I sliced a Chest place for encumbrance. Only once I have

Piece Enc Eff

------------------------

Helm 1 11

Chest 2 10

Gloves11 1

Boots 4 8

R Bracer 6 6

L Bracer 75

R Arm 4 8

L Arm 5 7

Pants 210

So, random yes. Even, not hardly. I wouldn't be suprised if those pieces that would really benefit from a specific slice were somehow weighted to get the less beneficial slice.

Excuse the unended paragraph. I decided to do a chart instead of spelling it all out.... and forgot to clean up the mess. Anyhow, since I am following up, I'd just say I didn't record the % because that is totally meaningless to me. I'd expect a bell curve and that is apparent in the great data provided.

I just copied this data from a post I made a few months ago. I had sliced 188 pieces of armor, and this is what I came up with....

Below is a tally of how many Encumberance and Effectiveness slices I had for each percentage written.

12% - 2 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
13% - . Effectiveness / . Encumberance
14% - 2 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
15% - 4 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
16% - 2 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
17% - 2 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
18% - 7 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
19% - 6 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
20% - 5 Effectiveness / 2 Encumberance
21% - 6 Effectiveness / . Encumberance
22% - 6 Effecitveness / . Encumberance
23% - 4 Effectiveness / 1 Encumberance
24% - 11 Effectiveness / 6 Encumberance
25% - 7 Effectiveness / 2 Encumberance
26% - 8 Effectiveness / 6 Encumberance
27% - 3 Effectiveness / 2 Encumberance
28% - 7 Effectiveness / 4 Encumberance
29% - 3 Effectiveness / 2 Encumberance
30% - 6 Effectiveness / 6 Encumberance
31% - 1 Effectiveness / 4 Encumberance
32% - 1 Effectiveness / 7 Encumberance
33% - 1 Effectiveness / 7 Encumberance
34% - 1 Effectiveness / 5 Encumberance
35% - . Effectiveness / 8 Encumberance
36% - . Effectiveness / 5 Encumberance
37% - . Effectiveness / 3 Encumberance
38% - . Effectiveness / 7 Encumberance
39% - . Effectiveness / 4 Encumberance
40% - . Effectiveness / 3 Encumberance
41% - . Effectiveness / 1 Encumberance
42% - . Effectiveness / 3 Encumberance
43% - . Effectiveness / 3 Encumberance
44% - . Effectiveness / 1 Encumberance

This came out to be a total of 96 Effectiveness slices and 92 Encumberance slices.

My average slice for Effectiveness was 22.9%.
My average slice for Encumberance was 32.8%

/sigh; Finally I'm done!
