Hehe... I knew someone would figure that out.
Unfortunately, it isn't as good as it looks...
-- Cost of running harvesters and factories is high
-- I don't charge quite that much, and early on I only charged 100 credits/% (still do for old customers)
-- Slicesfor friends and guildieswere often free (but I usually get recompensed in other ways.)
I currently have way under 10 million... but I can't deny its been nice.
I have been able to buy most of the things I want (rifles!!)
Oh, and I tend to be very generous with my friends when they need a loan. If I called in all my debts, I would have over 10 mill.
And thats not a lot... I know a couple ofpeople with well over 100 million. Jeez!!

I've been recording all of my slicing stats since I made Master Smuggler over 4 months ago. Finally this weekend I put them all into a data file and wrote a C program to parse the file and compile the stats. Here are the results with a few comments:


1388 TOTAL WEAPON SLICES:

DAMAGE slices: 682 Average slice = 25.35%

OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS:

-- Notice that slice types for both weapons and armor are fairly close to 50-50, as expected.

-- Notice the drop-off in numbers at either end of the scales:
Slices are NOT evenly distributed near the ends of the Percentage ranges!

-- Notice that I have NOT ever gotten a 35% Effectiveness slice.

-- Not sure why the large number of 24% Effectiveness slices (seems a little out of whack)


Anyway... thought this might be of general interest to the community

Heh... Just did some calculations for fun.


According to this data you presentedyouwill get a 35% damage slice 6 out of 1000 times. 37 times out of 1000 you will get a 30% damage slice though .

Jesus! Only 5.69% of the time you get a 30%+ED!!! I bought 30 VKs expecting at least one to be a 35%ED but best I got was 33% (and in leiu of this data, IM GLAD I GOT THAT!).





GameInformer: There seems to be a lot of things that you want to address in the core gameplay of Galaxies, why not just focus on those and release JTLS later? Blackman: Because JTLS is the number one thing that our community wants.

i thought you guys figured this out a couple months ago.

anyway, newbie smugglers there ya go. its all random.

this is why i dropped smuggler and went straight to doctor. until the smuggler revamp, that is. hopefully

I wouldn't mind doing that experiment. But you can consider the original post above as the "poor tools" data already. I make my own tools and I don't do any experimentation. I think they are usually around 13% effective tools if I remember. So I would need to slice a considerable amount with good tools for the comparison. I do have some high quality resources saved up... I can try to make some quality tools, but I've never crafted (for quality) and am not used to experimentation, so not sure how to do it. I'll play with it this week.







Think we can let go of the Tools questions. GM just answered it for us... they don't matter.

Next thing to do is to use your program for an expirament.. slice for about a month using really "good" tools with best expiramentation, then use "bad" tools for about a month and then plug those numbers in separately. Would be very interesting to see the results, My bet says there won't be any discernable difference, but its something I think I may try just for S&Gs.









The Devs have said many times, in writing, that tools and resources do not affect slices.


Of course, if you really, really, really want to be sure...

First off well done but could you please forgive me for being vain, but could you redo your graphs with the total slices on the x axis. I'm not very good at making graphs, and with you having it done already you should just have to make the graph switch the axis's, might make it better to look at also.

Speaking of slicing statistics...


I sliced 60+ rifles today as a bulk order. At least 90% of those slices were speed slices, and all of the damage slices except 1 were under 25%.


I'm begining to feel that this isn't exactly random...
