So explain how we are crowd control? We are supposed to be the crowd control KINGS of the battlefield...Im not following.....how is a 30 second PENATLY needed against mezz? I know...you are a jedi, and dont like to get killed, thus you claim that 30 secs is perfect, why? Cause it should only take a jedi 30 seconds to kill a person in pvp....and dont give me the whole "Its the get-away skill" line. We can "get -away" all we want....but if we need the exp and we cant kill anything cause we are to busy "getting away" whats the point of the profession?and yes... "I support order 66"
You sir are beneath talking too I have stated twice above this has nothing to do with Jedi, start reading and stop talking.
Why was it needed? An example, two groups of players fighting each other, one is maybe a rifleman/smuggler. He gets to the back of his group then tabs and dazes each of the opposing group (ok it takes a little while because of the concussion cooldown). His group then attack 1 person of the oposing group and ganks them. Every time one of the other group come out of mez he re-applies it. I have been on both ends of this as both the mezed and the mezer and it is far from balanced. Nothing to do with Jedi what so ever, get over your obscession that everything posted by anybody that has a Jedi toon must be a whine or a nerf cry. As a smuggler myself I agree with this change, although I have been forced to consider that it is ill fitting for the PvE crowd and should be handled seperately.Message Edited by AcidGuru on 07-19-2005 05:27 PM
This is a perfect example of PVP ruining play for PvE players. So once a again the minority screws the rest of us.
BTW Jedi go our root changed to a daze because they got owned by Bounty Hunters and BH got our Last Ditch nerfd because Jedi used to escape the DB.
Sorry the root was never meant to be a root.

The timers were needed guys and gals. It makes no sense to be able to keep an enemy under a constant state of daze, even in PvE. We are smugglers, and while we do enjoy nice tricks to keep us alive, we should also taste a sense of danger as well.

In EQ, good enchanters could keep 6 or more mobs in a constant state of non-combat. It worked fine there.
The only thing in this thread that bugs me is, "Smugglers are crowd control". Why didn't Han just mez everyone in their path so he could get that tractor beam shut off and make good his escape?
I agree though, that once we have a skill, and learn how it works and is best used, that ability shouldn't suddenly change without reason. It ruins the immersion. If you want to take away the pvp aspect of concussion, sell an item that can counteract the effects. Maybe an antidote? A skill for SL? Maybe you should just shoot your teammate in the head to wake him up!
Hopefully this isn't repeated in the thread somewhere. I'm afraid whenAcidGuru got jumped on for little reason I started skipping down.
I logged in to find out what the hell was going on with this and discovered something. It seems that this anti-daze effect only applies to the last daze you used. You can no longer continually concussion shot, but it seems you can keep something - or someone - perma-dazed by alternating concussion shot and panic shot. I wasn't able to test this thoroughly (two snorbals does not a scientific test make) but I'm pretty confident this is the case.
And fer cryin out loud, conc shot has a 40 sec timer. Sheesh.

Just tested this as well. I need to dig a little more, but I mezzed with concussion, posed for photos (as usual), stepped back and opened fire. The "rage" state hit the thug I was practicing on. Just for fun, I hit it with panic and it just stood there looking at me.
Now... I suspect that this may be a bug, but at least for now, we can indeed alternate mezzes.
Actually if you have a Squad Leader in your group who knows what he's doing, he can erase the effects of a daze.... So yes, there's a counter to dazes, all you need is a Squad Leader...
I'll stop the thread there, as the last thing I want is Squad Leader to get the Nerf Bat. They're already hanging out in the camp fire with the Rangers and Creature Handlers.
And for chain-dazing, I think this was a fix to Riflemen/Pistoleer using Startle Shot or Disarming Shot as the default move during PVP.
Unfortunately we get caught up in the mix. With our daze. Haven't tested it yet...
I still love smuggler, and now am too stubborn to give it up. First Combat Elite profession that I got, and the idea is just plain awesome. As a combat prof though smuggler is a now a support combat profession, like squad leader, ranger, creature handler....
Might as well get jawa beer and hang out the cantina watching the cool dancin' moves and tellin' 'bout the good ole' days....
Allow me to correct myself:
This does not appear to be a bug.
There are two countdown timers:
- Improved PanicShot -> Anger State for 20 seconds, can not reapply Panic mezz
- Concussion Shot -> Rage State for 30 seconds, can not reapply Concussion mezz
It is, however, very possible to keep this rather frustrated dragonet mezzed by alternating back and forth. Good news for us, bad news for those rooting for the nurf. Better luck next time, I guess.

A PROBLEM in group fights? It's supposed to be CROWD control you saber sucking moron. Crowd, as in a GROUP of people. Yeah I bet it was a 'problem' when one smuggler with a gun could neutralize a whole squad of you glowbat waving idiots who thought your super neato keen jedi-ness meant that they could never loose. In a solo fight its almost useless as you can't actually DAMAGE your target one on one while using it without breaking the daze.
'Problem.' *ucking idiot.
I could be real nasty here too. See?
/PIMPSLAP
shut your foul dirty mouth.
concussionshot and panic shot were NEVER*after made to work properly* viable in 1 v 1 combat unless used for a getaway....
comon we are SMUGGLERS!!! supposet to do out best to AVOID combat. aka NOT GET CAUGHT!!!
and the only way you can root a whole squad of...as you put it..."glowbat waving idiots" is to be a commando.
so shut up and sit downand keep your "*ucking" cussing to your g*ddamned self!!!!!

Listen, this patch has me more than bit Po'd...once again, jedi, and thier whinning have nerfed us again, then we have a jedi come in here, and claim that "30 seconds is perfect".
If you have a jedi... you are NOW a jedi.
A true smuggler, would'nt be saying "30 seconds is perfect"...no, a true smuggler would be outraged that thier MAIN skill just got whacked by the nerf bat...
True smuggler or not it is a wise change, would you rather they had lowered the duration of the daze effect? It is still usefull and can no longer be used to completely control a group PvP envounter. Nerf? maybe, needed? yes.
How is it a wise change ? Like other posters said, we are the only ones with a penalty for using our strongest shot (wich is a joke).Smuggler sucks as far as damage, but great to neutralize targets that want you dead. Maybe I could put you in a paralyze macro and you would go ask for a change on the CM boards ?
I have one word of advice, instead or trying to change a shot for everyone, why don't your guild try better tactics first, instead of asking for something changed in the whole game because you can't deal with it.
