Thread: A Smugglers Thoughts on SW 3
Great, great, GREAT movie.
I was expecting to be let down, as most 'closure' films tend to suck...but this one did well 8)
Although, someone needs to tell the Devs to go watch it, so my Veractyl can climb stuff and jump, dammit!
Saddest part for me was when Aayla Secura got waxed in that huge FlowerPot planet...
I had to restrain myself from jumping up and screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Oh, and Wes, good to see you around 8) Tomo's been posting here more than you, you gonna let him take your top seat, huh??? /taunt /taunt /taunt
hehe.

I was a little surprised that they didn't do a Chewbacca/Han tie-in, nor did any of the smuggler-esque characters make an appearance
Its because Han is like less than 10yrs old....

I'll confess this here...
I found myself literally fighting back tears. Yeah yeah..call me a sissy. I deserve it. But to see something that has had such a profound impact in my life play out so tragically was mesmerizing. It met all of my expectations. It was epic and even greek in proportion. I can't rave enough about it. It made Eps I and II make so much more sense. Almost like he had to go there to that idiotic realm of giddiness to contrast so wonderfully what was lost with the Republic falling. Ep I plays like a prequal to the prequals now. Ep II connects the dots...and Ep III is what we were waiting for all our lives (so to speak). Very good. Very very good.
Me too man - that scene with the lava... the look on Obi-Wan's face - THAT myfriend is a truly gifted actor.Cudos to you Ewan!
Well done, well done indeed.
Yes man, that exchange was golden...especially the angst and anger on Annakin's face as he yelled " I hate you" as he began to burn...I didnt think Hayden had it in him, but for the first time I was truly convinced that he was Darth Vader.
Yeah, I thought the acting was very nice on this one. I really never thought Hayden was going to make a good Anakin, but he changed my mind with this movie.

I liked her. The rest needed to burn, though.

Got back from seeing it about an hour ago. Absolutely loved it, from start to finish. There were the odd annoyances, but nothing's perfect. It played havoc with my emotions, got me entirely immersed and didn't once attempt to go all "Ah, children will be watching, so let's patronise them and annoy everyone else"™ once.
Loved it.
dooku decaptiation, jedi purge, ah... it made me so happy
but /cry PADME!
I've been in a funk ever since i saw it. An emotional downer.
I need to watch Return of the Jedi for closure.
But yeah... Order 66 was not good. After reading just about all of the clone wars novels, I've started to kind of like the clones. I almost felt like I'd been betrayed myself.
Those people who want to know how some of us can play Imperials should look at this and consider it. We are not supporters of Nazism or racism or whatever (and yes, I've been called those because I play an Imperial in this game). We realize that most people would welcome law and order after years of very destructive and destabilizing conflict. And we would see Palpatine as a hero because we don't know what went on behind the scenes. We would see the Republic as weak because it couldn't contain the Separatists, not knowing that the man behind the threat was the one that had been elected to head the Republic Senate. Darth Vader would be a hero because he sacrificed so much to free us from Jedi oppression, having to live in a sealed life support suit for the rest of his life.
For Imperial smugglers, we all have different reasons for supporting the Empire. For me, it's a knowledge of history. The Republic failed. Why would a new Republic end up any differently? I am not blind to the oppression in the Empire, but it is better to support the devil you know than to take a chance with the devil you don't.
Really, I'm not sure there were any significant flaws to this one. It was always good, often great, and sometimes stupendous, and the level of drama and tragedy brought on some shocking emotions. The only problem, really, is the other two movies weren't better--now I can see the importance of certain parts of them, but if they'd done a better job developing the characters and drawing us into them, Revenge of the Sith would have been even more powerful.
Taken by itself, though, this one's got more gravity and pathos and all that junk than any of the originals, and the really amazing thing is it all feels genuine. I'll have to see it a couple more times eventually, but for now, I'd put it as my second-favorite, and it just might end up challenging Empire.
