How about the type of weapon you can TRADE to a smuggler depends on his underworld skill level. At underworld 1 you can trade the basic sabre to a Smuggler only, and he can trade it to anyone. At Underworld 4 you can trade any Lightsabre, or other contraband.

If you can't/trade it through standard, conventional game mechanics (ie, the Secure Trade Window). It's not meant to be traded, and therefore is probably an exploit.
I know I wouldn't slice a saber unless you could put it in a secure trade window like a normal weapon.

I have an idea for the Dev's. If Lightsabers are not supposed to be sliced, then why don't they have the slicing option not come up on the item.
Kinda like every other freakin' item in the game that is not supposed to be sliced.

im gonna check this on my server when i go online (starsider)
ill send a ticket asking for the information. if the CSR says (when he answers of course) thats its Legal. i will keep a screenshot of it. if it turns out its somewhat an exploit (and i dont think so) then i have proof that a CSR admitted it was safe, then SOE will repay me for damages done =) (friend got problem with his account and they paid him 15M credits for the mistake lol)
better be safe that way, then having no proof

oh and then again... didnt han Solo use Luke's saber in ESB? i mean he didnt get a crackdown up is wazooo for it or got booted out of the film

I remember a post asking if they could be sliced and a DEV responded they could, if the Jedi figured out a way to get it to the smuggler...
Based on that sounds like it's not an exploit, they just wanted to make it difficult. I'll see if I can find the post later as I'm at work right now.

Last I heard the vendor lightsaber trade has been fixed so that you cannot do that anymore.

UPDATE : Got a PM response from Taurin.
The verdict - Lightsaber slicing IS an exploit. He even mentioned the possibility of it resulting in a ban.
Glad I held off on it, but I can't imagine they'd really ban people for it, when it was very questionable whether it was an exploit or not.
