Thread: People will hate me… but here is the secret…
Yeah, I'm not sure what logistics course you just failed out of, but slice results are completely random. This means that a random roll is entirely based on chance, in an exclusive "instanced roll" environment. Previous rolls have nothing to do with the subsequent ones. Your mind, being an analytical "computer", sees patterns where they exist by chance, not design.
I've had 13 straight speed slices, followed with alternating damage and speed, followed by more speed slices, followed by random spurts of damage slices. I've watched entire suits get sliced for effectiveness, and had nearly perfect 50/50 results on the next.
If I were a neurotic player, I might analyze that and determine that my random "seed" for the day was leaned towards an odd differential, and that logging out would reset this and allow for more beneficial slicing conditions. This would probably be validated if I relogged and found myself slicing all encumbrance and damage for the next hour. This would also be random chance, and my interpretation of that would make me a deluded **edit**. ![]()
Everyone has a "system". Everyone "knows" that random seeds exist, and relogging fixes them. Everyone likes to "slice a few weapons to get the bad luck out". And everyone who follows those previous dogmas has prepared and voo-doo-charmed his/her way to get ready for slicing a pre-nerf, 10-million-credit masterpiece, then watched it get dropped into the toilet with 15% speed.
You don't know any secrets. How do I know this? I've sliced every single week of my gaming time here, with the exception of a few short months, since commercial release. I've tested everything. EVERYTHING. WUK condition, FANs, clamps, laser knives made with copper mined by a Twi'lek in the full moon on the southern-most mountain on Endor... EVERYTHING.
Random is random... is random... is random. Go back to slicing and "smuggling" your DL44 collection from JoeBobWeaponsmith's vendor to JackBillyCustomer's backpack, and stop slathering ignorant propoganda on the forums to defuse a shoddy system.

Then if it was completely random how did the guy get speed slices all night long and how did I slice 4 full suits of armor for encumbrance last night whereas the previous night I was getting all speed slices? It is not completely random.
I apologize for raising a smuggler based topic that is not based on called the developers liars and rebuke SWG as being a piece of crap game. I apologize for hinting that there could actually be some things in SWG that made the game "fun" for those who figured out how to do it. I apologize for offending the left brain thinkers who want to make the whole galaxy conform to their limited view of the galaxy. This board used to be cool. Oh how I hated the BH boards where you could not even hint at having any kind of pleasure in the game without being flamed all to hell. This board is really beginning to suck.

Does it count that I sacrifice a chicken before each important slice?
I'm really sorry, but no. The Gods prefer human sacrifice.
At least you got dinner ready though.
The human mind is arguably the best pattern-matching computer in creation. It's so good that it frequently makes judgements based on little, no, or erroneous data.
Only in quantum mechanics is the outcome of the experiment influenced by its observation. In statistics, it just ain't so. Yes, the ODDS are that after 5 speed slices, there'll be a damage slice. Guess what, I have yet to see the warranty implicit in a statement of the ODDS.
An equally (in)valid case can be made that if you're in a run of speed slices that the next slice will _also_ be a speed slice, because there's a pattern.
Give it up. It's random. There are no black helicopters, and the water doesn't have mind-control drugs in it.
I Also had a long response to this, and was promptly logged out just before posting.. Honestly if they can't get the Forums working right how will they fix the game...
Anyhow summary was: Patterns do exist but they are too short term in my opinion for me to stake my reputation trying to exploit them. and YES it would be Exploiting. Because my knowledge of Programming and Random Number Generators indicates that they have tried very hard to make this as random and unpredicatable as possible; therefore slicing is by design random, but by implementation very slightly predictable, and currently trying to do anything more than the random is exploiting an uncorrectable flaw in the system(because no Random Number Generator will EVER be perfect)
Also on Weapon slices Greater than 35% if you get this you are using a Double slice exploit or a powerup exploit and should be banned immediatly, thank you drive through(not sure who used that line last time this came up but it still applies).
