Mate, I don't think you'll find any Smuggler in it to make huge sums of cash! (certainly at the moment when we can't actually smuggler anything to make any real profit) But we are smugglers and that is one of the overriding pre-requsites!

I suffered from the solo group nerf, as that was my main source of income and selling loot. Now I am having to look at Slicing as my income and increase my work accordingly and possibly my prices too. I don't think I'll go as high as 10K but certainly a couple of grand. The argument posted above by a number of people on buff prices is very strong, and it does all come down to supply and demand, the Docs and other 'uber profit' crafters will have to lower their prices in time as people will slowly stop buying their overpriced goods as their money drys up, but that change in pricey aint ever going to happen overnight. You say that 'any intelligent person would lower their prices' - I think you might want to get out in the RL yourself bud. SWG mirrors RL economically, in that it is a consumer led capitalist society. People are out to make quickmoney, because it is ingrained in them from RL that this is the 'how to succeed' and is set up ready to go in the professions of the game. I'm not saying its right, in fact the opposite. I think its sad that it should be transferred into a virtual game, but its always going to be there.

And its some of thoseguys that your misplaced 'get a life' rant should b placed at, not the Smugglers who can hardly be considered in the high income bracket of SWG with the profession in its current form!

I thought about being eloquent with my reply to this... but I changed my mind. Hey C-H-U-D, F*** Off! You need to go back and read what a couple other posters have to say before you blast everyone. I'll never tell you what to charge, I just decide what my time and effort is worth. If you don't feel you're worth any more than you charge that's fine. If don't have a problem with someone making anywhere from 50k-1 mil + off of what you did (your skill not theirs you dolt). Be my guest and short change yourself.

Actually I think I'm about to call BS on your Master Smuggler claim too. Your arguments are more like the ones formed by non Smugglers when they get pissed off about the price of slicing. Let me tell you, I'm a Master Weaponsmith also, and before your go pointing a finger at your fellow Smugglers due to their supposed greed, you best take a look at all the other professions out there and point that finger somewhere else. You talked about us being greedy like other professions, well let me tell you something... 10k per slice is not greed. Your objection to it (IMO) is one of greed since you seem to be angry that either you don't make as much off slicing, or you're angry that you actually have to pay a Smuggler for his skill instead of skating by like you used to.

Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. I slice because I like to, not because I really need the money. Having said that, it seems like I can wander around in-game, for hours, buying supplies, looking for weapons, etc., and I get no requests for slicing. But, let me get my med and ent buff, and the requests start pouring in. That is no one's fault, I realize, but it is still a little frustrating. This is always when I get a request to slice two full sets of armor, lol.

I am still fine tuning my prices. I am trying to find that happy medium between gouging my customers, and getting scammed by them. I slice all things free for guildees, which is one of the few ways I have of paying them back for thier support and kindness. For non-guildees, I charge 10K each for weapons. I have had very few people complain at that price, and with the price of weapons, I am not surprised. I have also learned not to assume what kind of slice a customer wants. My experience has shown that most people who hand me a VK want a good damage slice. I was slicing a VK for a customer last week and got a 25%+ speed slice, and I thought "Awww, crap" to myself. I tell the customer, and he says "Yes! That is exactly what I wanted!". Go figure. he he. I also had another VK customer, and I got a 30%+ damage slice, and I thought, "Alright! He will love this". I tell him, and he says, "Darn, I wanted a speed slice. " So, I told him, most TKM I have met are looking for a good damaged slice VK, and if he just starts spamming, I bet he can get a speed sliced VK in trade.

I charge 50K for a 9-piece set of armor, otherwise 10K per piece. I am not totally sold on the per piece rate yet, and may adjust it. Obviously, I get more money out of an armor customer because they need multiple items sliced. As such, I am inclined to pass on a volume discount. I may drop this back to 6k per item. Not sure yet.

I charge 5K per container, and I can't believe people pay it!?!?!?!?! I may raise this to 10K per container. I don't really like slicing containers, and may raise the price just to force them to a novice smuggler. No matter how much you charge, you can expect your customer to be disappointed with the contents of a locked container.

I like slicing weapons and armor much better! I love the feeling of getting a 25% slice or higher on something, and seeing the customer say, "Right on! I was really hoping for a good slice on that!". I know it is random, but I still feel a sense of accomplishment when that happens.

I am also amazed by how many comments I get that say, "Thanks for being an honest smuggler". I told a guy last night, "From a role-playing point of view, being an honest smuggler does not make sense, but I just can't help myself. lol". I may charge a little more, but I never rip my customers off.

Peace.

(Ok...why exactly are you complaining here? So you want all the Smugglers to lower their price to yours ..or lower, so we pull people away from your business?)

Or me with 25+ people sitting around me. ****Tweeeeeet**** Sorry bud gotta toss the BS flag on that one....I have never seen a Smuggler with 25+ around him....plus if you are getting that many...why exactly are you complaining then again?...shouldn't that be us doing it?

the price gouging in this game is disgusting (Yup....i would never pay between 75mil and 150mil for a +25 weaponsmith reapir belt...but others do and thats the point...people pay...whether they get the money from missions or make it off items they crafted and sold....they pay...if no one paid he/she would lower the price...simple logic.)

Hey, look at me! i'm gonna make arediculousely large profitso i can go out and buy something like RIS or BHarmor instead of EARNING it just like every other pissant crafter in this game! (LOL...Who exactly are you mad at here the armor sellers or the buyers? Without us pissant crafters you would be sitting in the cantinas talking about how you all sure ganged up on that kreetle lair yesterday, and heckone guy nearly lost his hawtpants to them.If I really want RIS or BH I get together with a group of my guildies and we go run the missions for it like everyone else. If its for sale, and I can afford it, I buy it. Whats the issue here? I feel alittle "Not getting RIS armor like I want" angst here)

oh no! the dev's are trying to balance out the economy by reducing the ammount of money flowing in! I better raise my prices to what few should be willing to pay so i can call myself "rich" for a couple weeks longer than everyone else! (LOL...Never have raised my prices....98% of everyone that has asked what price i slice for has payed....one even complained, then came back and payed more than what I asked)

the majority of smugglers, and doctors for that matter must have some seriouse issues if they can't understand that the solo group mission "nerf" is meant to balance things in a frankly f***ed up economy.(Show me an economy that isn't, oh and I guess you have no problem with paying Weaponsmiths 3mil forSLICED T-21's they made for 5k or Armorsmiths that charge 500k forSLICED Comp, Droid Engineers chargin 100k for combat droids, Chefs charging 250kfor crates of food..but us Smugglers charging 10k and Docs charging 10-15k are just gluttons for money huh?)

any intelligent person would see it a much better idea to LOWER prices on things like buffs and slicing rather than RAISE them when something like that happens. (Boy, you certainly are dramatic....the econmy hasn't changed...the solo group "nerf" as you call it hasn't changed my business one bit...people are still running missions...still getting payed...the only one that appears to be affected by it is you...why is that?)

to all of you out there who are thinking "this noobie must be so poor, lol, i bet i'm richer than he is, he doesn't know sh!t"(Funny, must have missed that post.....)

Lately, when asked what I charge, I use the "pay what -you- think this slice was worth."

If they give me what I feel is too little, I call them cheap. I also thell them I'm not going to break into their ouse and pee on their bed, or scrawl their name on the bathroom wall, they were just cheap.

Been doing pretty well for myself lately and I don't have to waste time continually typing out a price structure.

Made around a million slicing for Felton Kel's recent weapon auction on Tempest, however most of that came from one client.

I got him a 30% damage slice on a power hammer made with some uber acklay bones. I made over 700k on that slice.

I make some money, I get some RP value out of it and I'm making a name for myself. I've gotten some really nice high profile good slices, my name is getting around. I like it.

First off there's no way that CHUD is a smuggler, maybe used to be but definately not now you are so far off. Secondly it dependson what the item is that i'm slicing....if it's a nightsister DOT lance, you'll be paying 20k minimum. If it's some low level weapon i'll let you off cheap. 10k would be a little extreme if the weapon only costed 5k to buy. What we do is a service, and smuggler seems to be a dying breed...hey supply and demand right? If i'm the only smuggler on the server are you gonna be paying 1k for a slice? I don't even see smugglers running around anymore, or at least none with titles up, which tells me that would be a) a secondary profession, for there own use, or to help out guildies and friends and b) they don't wanna slice to the public. How is a smuggler supposed to make any money charging 1-3k per slice?? How many people per day ask you to slice something for them....not many. I have my master tag flying at all times, i MAYBE get one a day. Selling spices??? Ya right, besides muon the rest are useless. Anyways........

To me, this was really easy.

5K for slices under 25%. 10K above. I know most smugglers out there hate a graduated system, but it tends to settle my customers when a slice doesn't go thier way.

The reason that slicing prices reached thier "lofty" heights can be attributed directly tosolo group action. Until the recent build was put in place, for most players, it is so easy to make up the cost of a slice, since all they had to do was do 2 35k missions in Dant MO to pay for the cost of a full suit of armor and a weapon.Whati s that, 10 minutes, TOPS??!! Obviously this has changed, but pricing for most goods that I have seen have been slow to follow the decrease in mission compensation.

With no compelling niche existingthat the modern SWG smuggler can fit into, it became necessary to significatlyincrease from the prior years prices. Andso far therehave been veryfew complaints to me, mostly millionaire leet fools that always want to have the world molded into thier own image. In their cases, I charge them 50k a slicefor wasting my time listening to them prattle on.

Experiment? Who the hell are you, Pavlov? Picking up on your misspelling words such as "Retarded" wasn't exactly a mental decathlon either. Your previous posts,..and Ilink herethe only one in these forums, are rife with spelling mistakes as well.

The audacity shown here was you and your rant about nothing. If you want to troll threads, go do it on your home server. I am sure they will love to participate in one of your so called "experiments". I would bet a force crystal that your current template either revolves around Pistoleer/BH Pistols/and Smuggler 0-0-4-0, or some variation of this. You probably recently went to have your weapon sliced, and when the Smuggler told you 10k you nearly crapped your spleen. I would venture your rant to the Jedi also revolves around FD and you possibly have enough in the investigation line to hunt them.

Hmm, perhaps I should say all this in a way that your immature mind could comprehend:

You try to make it sound like a "social experiment" but i do not see the point with it, neither has its outcome any value, the result isa coupleof postfrom people commenting your post that contained harsh language and stupid remarks on a subject you did not really understand in the first place. So what did your "experiment" prove? Nothing! And why? Because there was no "experiment" or "theory" in the first place. Your posts are really first class trolling!

Instead of pulling the "I was testing a theory" it would be morepolite to apologize.
