If it helps - I do sing "Give Peace a Chance" while I type my messages - do I get points after the fact? :>

I'm relatively new to the forums and the way I look at it - I enjoy playing the Smuggler - I think there could be some things that could be fixed, I think there are things that could be improved, I think there is a lot of potential. I've also thought pretty much the same thing as a Dancer, a Medic, A Doctor, A rifleman, an Architect, a Weaponsmith, and Droid Engineer. Despite the shortcomings though I still have fun with it, as I suspect most of the negative posters here do - I mean - if you weren't having fun at some level why would you play?

I try not to be too negative, USUALLY, when I start a thread it's simply something I'd like to see added to our profession (ie, eye patches, stolen/forged codes, adjustable pistol, coats and pants with storage). When I do say something negative, I tend to think that it's not without good reason.

This whole thing spun out of control, a product of a misinterpreted thread, a growing resentment towards "Red" names, that they never come say hi any more, that we have gotten literally no word on anything in a long time, and are left here to speculate and tell funny stories. It's not a situation that promotes a lot of positivity, and though I welcome Goliath, I'm not terribly excited about it. He's got a job, and if it was a job at a bank, we wouldn't have said anything about it, even though his actual job has as much to do with our problem as a job at a bank would.

I think we all need to take a step back, and realize that "red" names mean absolutely nothing. And I think we should take a break from complaining that red names never come to visit. That's not to say we should not continue to state the importance of our revamp, but we should in the very least stop whining like children about the devs in this forum, we're starting to sound like our magical glowy friends up the profession list a ways. And yes, while they certainly got their revamp (unecesarily), we still don't want to be like that.

I believe a lot of the recent attitude in here, the negativity towards eachother, the short fuses and tempers, really is a symptom of having lost many of our "best and brightest" in recent months. We've taken a few more casualties of our community leaders, most recently the absense of Caylin and Wayne. I think even just two weeks ago, the greeting of Goliath would have been much more Smuggler-esque. I haven't posted much lately, but I see quite a few unfamiliar names posting, many with a more negative energy than I've seen in this forum before. That's not to lay all the blame on newer posters. So is it as simple as a need to educate the new blood that we are different than the rest of the players? We are a cut above the rest, [think Lando ... suave, yet deadly when he needs to be].

Look, everyone, be as negative and cynical as you like. We've earned that. It's been nearly a year and a half since launch and we're basically in the same sorry state that we were back then. Devs don't talk to us anymore, and when they did, it was to promise us revamps and fixes and then never follow through. The mistreatment we've faced is staggering.

But the one thing we don't do is ever turn that well-earned cynicism on each other. This community is the biggest part of what we've got, and to see it fragmenting and descending to the level of other forums would be to see the most significant part of what it means to be a smuggler disappear. That would be a greater defeat than anything we've faced so far.

When he's in this forum, Goliath is a smuggler, and he should be treated as one. Don't let our anger and frustration draw you into turning on the same people suffering with us all.

Oh let me see if I can get in the 'right' mood here, I seem to have also gone astray...one second while I readjust .

OK, Fishbrains and Geevo, how's this?

1. It was SO great hearing how a smuggler, that just happens to be an art dev, loves being a smuggler. It was truely inspiring having him re-introduced to our community by Tiggs.

2. Let's all be 'logical' and realize that we have to patiently wait for CU before they can decide if we are next in line for a revamp.

3. I think a little frog-bowl here and there for then next year is really nice of them, they don't HAVE to try and keep our interest.

4. They're very very busy and I'm sure care as much about our profession as all of us do.

5. We have to be understanding of the reasons for the delays over the past year+, it isn't fair to call them lies.

6. All of us should be able ot RP a smuggler. We don't really need any smuggling content, just our own imaginations.

7. There will be smuggler-only JTL missions soon so see how they are trying?

See how easy it is everyone? Let's just tell cute stories and anecdotes for another year, I'm sure SOE will appreciate our support and make Smuggler a really great profession as we all know they intended from the beginning.

Geevo; "So is it as simple as a need to educate the new blood that we are different than the rest of the players? We are a cut above the rest, [think Lando ... suave, yet deadly when he needs to be]."

Huh? We are "different"? How so? Because we have the personal quality of unreasonable stubborness in common?

Oh yeah, like Lando we're "deadly" when we need to be? *rolls eyes* Sure, SOE fears us for our deadliness I'm sure. I can hear them now; "Throw the deadly smugglers a 'frog bowl' so they don't bite our heads off."

Please, give me a break.

The only thing we have in common is that we all want to actually play a smuggler...which we currently do not by any definition of smuggling. We also mostly seem to like to be beaten down, lied to, ignored and under appreciated, always ready to forgive and trust again and continue to pay for the privalege of dreaming a dream that may never materialize. If this were an RL relationship...oh, it is isn't it?

So let's get back to being "productive" and start a new revamp document so we can 'help' the devs when it comes time for our revamp. Lord knows we can never have enough revamp documents.

I'm sure you all mean really well but all this "suck it up, we're a cut above" stuff is really not making a bit of sense. That's not to say that complaining is doing any good but it's one hell of a lot more honest.

STOP FIGHTING! Please. He's just a guy that's a smuggler. If there's anyone to be pissed at,you should be angry at yourselves for treating Goliath with such crapulence.

Knock it off, he's one of us. Be nice to him.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

I take it you've never been around piles of horse manure? Or decaying carcases?

Honey might get you ants but a big pile of crap gets you flies.
