Selling fp is the best way for a Smuggler to make money quickly in the current state of the profession. That said most of us hate doing it because its hours of macroing. Its literally impossible to fill the biggest (most profitable) fp orders manually the way the system is set up. I love the idea of a bank like slider that would convert creds to fp but I think the cap should be at the player character cap so that such sales could be done in one transaction. To fill 40k fp in increments of ~650 at a time that a 1000 fp cap means at Colonel is still crazy... that's like 60 times through the interface/delegate process. I honestly think that eliminating the artificial cap and setting up the "bank interface" would both be very profitable for us as well as stimulating the GCW by putting more faction equipment out on the battlefields.

Something I think would be cool for us is if the recruiters have a slightly randomized credits per fp price. Say the range is only 75 per to 85 per. With the 1.18 delegation loss, a 40k transfer would cost between 3.5 mil and 4 mil. The reasoning for this is to protect our profits, one of the reasons fp selling is so profitable is because the customers know how time consuming and annoying it is for us. If its 5 clicks only in time they will all know what our cost is and demand to pay exactly the cost and give us like a 10k tip. If there is a variance that the customer isn't aware of we can adjust the price and build in our "skim".

I don't believe it is foolish at all.

It promotes interraction with other players as we can't do it all ourselves, it prohibits people from getting their own promotions and doesn't flood the market with faction.

One person simply wont be able to do it all and that is a good thing.

I'd say those are very good reasons.

Hrm - they're not eliminating macros outright, just recursive ones. I don't pretend to be an expert on FP selling, but I've read the basics - got to buy to cap, delegate to the purchaser, buy to cap, delegate to purchaser, til order is complete.

How is this going to be that much tougher without recursive calls? Can you not set up a single run macro to purchase to cap and delegate, ending there? I would have thought that's what have been the way to do it. I'd not call having to press a key every now and then too carpal. Is there something I'm missing here? Even on large orders you can make pretty darn long macros - and if they make it just recursively check and not make it so a macro cannot call another macro you can have incredible amounts strung together, tailor made for varying set amounts.

Also uses of aliases can further extend your playroom. You can alias everything to a two letter alias, giving your macro even that much more room.

I just am failing to see the big kerfuffle about recursive macro removal here.

I personally feel it's a shame they are removing recursive macros, as I really do feel it does more harm than good.

There's a simpler solution.

They should code it in so that AFK characters are incapable of buffing anyone, but can still heal wounds and damage.

That will stop AFK BuffBots for Doctors and Entertainers without ending looping macros.

What some of you might not be aware of, is what this means to smugglers.

We will no longer be able to use the spice grinding macro...

and above all...

The faction grinding macro will no longer be an alternative to advanced carpal tunnel.

He recognized my comment on this (At last, I've been telling them this for a month...) so I'll see what can be done to improve the faction purchase system.

Gah.

What they need to do is give us a slider interface for purchasing faction instead of the constant clicking. The same UI that exists for bank deposit/withdrawal, structure maintenance/power, and the like should be implemented for FP purchases. Such a change would require minimal coding work, and could certainly be added to the next biweekly minipublish.

I don't know aopbut anyone else.. butsure, grinding fp, and the spice line will become a bit more tedious, but what about PLKs? so far, i've only seen one guy on Bria, who sells fac crates at 2k. yeah, they're the simplest damn thing to make, but with us as slicers, we need them. and i for one am not going to get hosed as prices for certain items go up, because without the recursive macros, the only other way to make anything in larger amounts is to set up a factory, and get locked into that loop.

I frequently do orders of faction points of 20k-120k and often more. With my macro running, tuned to buy faction as fast as anyone can click, it takes over an hour to purchase 60k faction. I've had sessions of faction selling where it has taken over 4 hours to purchase all the needed points.

I will have to buy a new mouse for my computer after every faction sale if macro's are nerfed this way. It's 5 clicks of the mouse for every 125 faction without a macro. that's 2500 mouse clicks an hour. Or, the worlds longest bloody macro, which the system wont accept because you cannot have more than 50 commands in a single macro. an hour long faction macro without it being looped would be 240-300 commands long.

The problem with using 'afk' as a marker for who can buff/heal etc. is that it's down to the client to say if you're afk or not and as we've seen with the afk filter, it doesn't stop afk spammers, because they simply remove their afk status by having it not show them as afkfor the max amount of time.

Would that really be so bad? It might bea shot in the arm the ailing GCW needs. A few more people running around in factional armor, people who may have always wanted to try owning a base dropping a forward outpost.

You have to question why they putlimited our ability to buy in bulk in the first place. Was it to prevent us from buying the larger perks / rank, or was it easier than having to deal with the possibility of a smuggler buying FP past his cap?

It's not that the cost for a non-smuggler to purchase these perks would change all that much. You don't see people buying travel tickets and trying to undercut each other on resale. FP is one of those things the game sets the running cost on.

If the main problem is people using large fp purchases to increase in rank then maybe we should push for something different than changing the way fp are purchased.

The majority of fp sales (95%+) that I've done have been to provide bases and turrets to people with enough money. What if we left the current fp purchasing system alone, and added a new option to the ui. After you select "I'd like to make a donation to your cause", a choice would come up to purchase faction equipment directly. So basically the same ui would come up that lists the base purchase options but instead of it saying 30k fp to purchase it would say 2.4 mil credits to purchase. This would make it harder to sell fp for leveling and make it far easier to buy bases and equipment. I'd love to have the choice to just buy a set of st armor or imperial furniture without having to go through the crazy macroing and delegating required now. If for some reason someone really wanted fp, they could still do the grinding.

I did say it takes two smugglers to do it. My point was that by trying to limit something like this, people will find a work around. In addition, the high cost of purchasing the FP will limit people from doing it.

When my guildmates want FP I just charge them my cost and buy what they want, some are even Smugglers looking to get the best exchange rate for their FP. Limiting this amount to 500 FP, just meant it took longer to do it. Besides with a good Combat Template it is faster and cheaperto earn it then buy and sell it.
