Well, I wouldnt say it completely ruins the faction business or spice crafting, it just makes it a bit mroe tedious. All its doing is forcing you to hit F5 (or wherever you put your macro) every few seconds as opposed to letting the macro do this task as well. Unless the order is huge, this really isnt a problem. Back before I could get my macro to work properly, I had to do something similar to this and I really didnt have a big problem with it. Granted, it will make larger orders much more annoying, but overall I dont think it is too big of a deal. Now, if we could somehow get them to raise the amount of faction we can purchase or remove the 500 point cap as a result of this change, then I dont think you would hear a single soul complain about that.

Besides, look on the bright side: Hopefully this will put an end to afk-spammers, which have made going to cities like Coronet and Theed a real chore. It also helps those entertainers, most of whom have gone into hiding with the cantinas full of afk dancers and musicians. This very well could return certain social aspects to the game that have been missing for a very long time. One can hope anyway!

people are complaining about it and rightfuly so yes it hurts the smuggler but if they fix the FP purchase interface ( it needed it anyway) all is well.

Seeing as how responsive they've been to our problems in the past,I'm *sure* that they're going to drop everything andchangethe UIbefore implementing the AFK change. Good luck with that.

Does this mean that people will get pissy and report a smuggler for buying FP and getting that npc spam of making a donation?

The majority of fp sales (95%+) that I've done have been to provide bases and turrets to people with enough money. What if we left the current fp purchasing system alone, and added a new option to the ui. After you select "I'd like to make a donation to your cause", a choice would come up to purchase faction equipment directly. So basically the same ui would come up that lists the base purchase options but instead of it saying 30k fp to purchase it would say 2.4 mil credits to purchase. This would make it harder to sell fp for leveling and make it far easier to buy bases and equipment. I'd love to have the choice to just buy a set of st armor or imperial furniture without having to go through the crazy macroing and delegating required now. If for some reason someone really wanted fp, they could still do the grinding.

That is you. You are a minority of the majority.

My sales are the opposite. The FP I sell are to up peoples ranks. I rarely sell tons of FP for base sales. The base and turret FP purchases are always the few and far between sales.

As for my Selling of FP - the only "macro" I use is a button called Delegate. It's contents are: "/delegate name 200". That's it. I go thru all the menu choices manually. Fastly. Only b/c of my years on end of multitasking. Plus it's more reliable than a macro that cuts into your own cash funds.

If I'm reading that right then you wouldn't be affected if the current ui is kept along with adding the ability to directly purchase equipment. I am curious, have you ever done a 60k order by hand like that? I personally would go mad somewhere below 10k without a macro.

Unless the macro is completly parsed and identified as a single process....

  • I'm not doing this to be an **edit**,
  • If the Devs want this, I don't want it to be a waste of their time. Eliminating the good and leave the bad.
  • If I don't point this out, someone will find a workaround and maybe not tell anyone till it's to late.
  • If I spend a little more of my lunch time on this, I could probably decrease the interval of the spam to 15 seconds and make it run for 24 hours and keep it non-recursive.

My proposed solution:

  • Create a small Faction Purchase pop-up box.

  • At the top of the box is a drop down list where the smuggler can choose his name or the name of anyone grouped with him.

  • The Smuggler can then enter the number of Faction points to delegate via a slider bar

  • If the drop-down-target is himself the ratio is 1 to 1

  • If the drop-down-target is a group member the ratio is calculated based on the smugglers rank (as it is today)

  • The total points required to purchase and the cost for the selected delegate amountwould be displayed as the Smuggler adjusts the bar (with a much higher max limit if a group member is the delegate target).

  • Clicking ok then purchases the points and deletgates them to the target.

Optional (and awesome) additions to the above:

  • If the Faction Purchase pop-up box has selected a recipient other than the smuggler then the smuggler can enter a credit amount to charge the customer per faction point.

  • The cost plus this fee is calculated into a final price to the customer.

  • Once the smuggler clicks "ok", the customer gets an accept dialog box stating the total price and the number of faction points he will recieve.

  • If the customer clicks "Accept" the price is transfered from the customer to the smuggler - and the faction purchase/delegate happens immediately afterward (these additons would allow for a secure transaction between a customer who can afford the points and a smuggler who cant)

  • If the customer clicks "Deny" nothing happens.

Note: theslider bar shouldalways be capped atthe delegate target's faction point cap if that is lower than the total allowed purchase of the smuggler.

I sure hope this gets squarred away before it no-looping initiative goes into effect. Faction is my main source of income at this point. Selling spice is not very lucrative, slicing has limited potential and there's really nothing else to do as a smuggler. I'm sad to say that if there's no work around for this (other than hitting an F key umpteen billion times), I will be dropping smuggler.

and I'm not quite sure why this is a problem with spice... You can get through spices4 in about 4 hours without the use of a macro. Lets keep the focs on the fp purchase problem (as we seem to be doing a good job of).
