Well they gave us PVP only abilities as well... That faction reduction when you die in PVP does you no good unless you participate in it.

Not a 19 questions deal.

However, I want a real official comment about this, because I don't agree with that take.

Me either.

My take is the posture up attack is no exploit. While true that FD is not a very viable PvP skill, it does still have it's place. I for one have used it on multiple occasions to kill CMs on a rampage.

If you think about it, if FD were to be made more viable in PvP, some sort of counter-balance would have to be put in place.

For example if while FD you were no longer targetable and the posture up attck did not work, FD with be way out of balance.

I have seen many many smugglers cry for FD to make them non-targetable over the past year. But think about the consequences of making that change. There exist a lot of possibility to exploit/grief/use just plain lame tactics with FD in PvP. To counteract that they would then have to put some sort of countermeasure in place. (Such as a timer on how often you can use it or a period after standing from it where you can do nothing (like a shorter version of the wooziness from a rez).

I for one am fairly happy with FD being an extremely useful PvE skill with its limited effective use in PvP.

I tend to agree with Hotrodg, FD has saved my butt a lot when dealing with CM,MR and other TKA's. Ive found that Feign/Force of Will, works very well as a combo when im putting up a fight. While playing dead and getting a beer and chips when im in a losing situation has as help in PVP. Again if your tef'd and not overt Feign works very well.

Actually, it is an exploit. I recall a dev post a bit back when the bug was first discovered confirming it was unintended functionality and should not be possible. Of course, I regularly surf 4 different forums sooo... that could just be a wierd extrapolation of different things I've read across all 4 boards.

I've feigned in PvP, and had a group waiting for my pools to regen so they could startleshot me out of feign. However it didn't work. I then tested this theory with my friend who is a MRM, and every special he had would not break my feign. I do not have skill tapes or attachments to enhance this, and my template is Master Smuggler, TKM, Fencer 4/4/0/0, Pistoleer 0/0/3/0, so I don't believe I have natural defenses vs. this.

Has this happened to anyone personally? I think it might have been a fluke. Technically you are incapacitated when you feign since you are not able to speak in spatial. If you are prone or KD, you would be able to interact.

Just for the record:

GreenMarine stated at Fan Fest, when FD was brought up, that it was NOT a PvP ability, and was never intended to be one. He also mentioned that there would be no change of that.

Carbineers have the posture up shot, and I am not sure, but I believe Rifleman may have it. I used to be a Carbineer/Smuggler and did it all the time tosmugglers FD'ingin PvP. Fortunately, most people run screaming from the Carbineer profession (quite like myself,) so there's not really a lot of people with the ability to do it.

I know I said I wouldn't ever post here again, but I couldn't help myself on this one.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

The dev's had made it clear that Feign is not made for PVP and that is why we are still open for attack, and I dought it will change. Still, if you are just tef'd and not overt you can get up and not be attacked when the tef is gone. You wanna see an uber kid get mad pull that one on them. The meditate (if you have TKA) the damage away right in front of them.

Last thing i heard was it was 1 Dev that said it and he was quickly told he doesnt know what he is talking about by some other dev's And you tell me what other class that can hold a weapon in game has a Skill that is for PvE only. All skills are part of the game no matter where it being used PvE or PvP.

Granted, FD is not really fair for PVP. But if we're going to have Smuggler bounties on us, I'd like to see some dirty fighting tactics that increase our changes of evading pursuit. The abilities shouldn't really be oriented in killing/taking down our pursuers, but messing them up enough that we can lose them. Smuggler is not designed to be a combat class. I mean, we've got the basic Pistols tree and one tree dedicated to combat moves. Unlike Bounty Hunters et all, whose entire classes are dedicated to combat moves and stat improvements.

Like an ability where we can lose them in a crowd (like in the city of Coronet), where they can't focus on us so long as we don't attack.

True but like its been said many times, We are smugglers, since when are we Honorable and Fair? The line is called dirty fighting for a reason. I mean how hard is it to make us unattackable, its not like we enjoy being on our back int eh first place. but if they did have us show as FD people may leave us alone or back of f long enough so we can make that escape.

The issue is not so much making us more smuggler-like. It comes down to people taking Smuggler and getting Feign Death just for that ability. Not for a love of the profession, but to twink (munchkin) with that ability.

Thank about it... you've got someone who's either a TKM or Commando or something designed to fight, using FD to heal up and then get back up and lay into you.

The issue is mainly making it difficult for others who are doing it solely as a twink combo to obtain abilities like FD.
