We had a slight weapons malfunction but we're all fine here now? yeah he was not much of a fast talker.

On the other hand his panic shot seemed to work just fine! his signature line for me was "sorry about the mess".

Indiana Jones is a very Han Solo inspired character(no, not because its the same actor

). I think the funniest similarity is in A new Hope, and Temple of doom.

Han chases a stormtrooper down the corridor shouting as though he has the advantage, only to run into a legion of stormtroopers and have to run the other way.

In Temple of doom, he takes his wip and steals a sword from one of those cult guys, and starts to chase them, only to turn around when a legion of them starts chasing him....

Both are commical, and that kind of adds to his coolness.

That brought about 3 extra cool movies by Lucas too.

The Mummy I, the scruffy looking kinda shaddy and greedy hero... Is this a policy? The shaddy heros have to chase a single henchman, just to be chased by a horde shortly after, running away screaming... not that he didn't already screamed when he chased that henchman in the first place...

Is that like Superman? Arogant posing and leting the bullets bouncing of his chest, but dodgíng the thrown pistol...?

We couldn't play SWG without Tiggs. Now we can =)

Sometimes I am soooo glad I am old.

Star Wars ('A New Hope'? WTJ is that??!!) was THE movie of my childhood. I saw that sucker 7 times in the theatre when I was 7 in '77. There had never been anything like it that I had ever seen before. Nothing even close. It was just one continuous jaw-on-the-floor experience. We were inawe of that film. And then outside the theatre, at home, on the street with the neighborhood buddies and kids, at school during recess, when-ever where-ever, we were into Star Wars like nothing else before or since. Action figures, vehicles, toys toys toys. Books (I spent hours pouring over the big picture book), iImaginary space battles, jealousy of the kid down the street who actually had a real live toy stormtrooper gun, making the internal layout of the Faclon jive with our house's layout, on and on.

Me, I had to be Han, mebe Vader in a pinch. Snot-nose younger brother had to be Luke. Sister...Leia, duh (ew, but that was before there was even an inkling of the 'truth').

Han became the dude practically the first time I saw him. Greedo, table, blaster. Han = da man. Game over, man. Game over! So much of that scene just grabbed me. The alien thing, never seen such a thing before. The alien's language. The 'uh-oh, what is going to happen now, what what WHAT is going to HAPPEN!!!' I was 7, it sure did seem to take forever for that scene to play out. And then we see Han slowly and stealthily sneaking that big COOL blaster out. And a bit more talkin. Anticipation rising! And we see that big COOL blaster aiming. And then! KABLOWY! Greedo-guts spread all over creation. Coolest thing E.V.E.R.. (at that point in my life). It was sooo cool. No fuss, big muss. And he walks out and caps it with flippin the credit to the barkeep and apologizing and out he goes.

For me, it was definately the scene in the cantina where Greedo got blasted. I think Lucas' biggest mistake was changing that scene up so Greedo shot first (I still can't believe that scene made it into the final cut, being as jerky as it originally was), but they're his movies I guess...

oddly enough from a writing standpoint that one half second of footage took away pretty much all of the growth of orginal Han Solo. He basically shot first and murdered Greedo, and then by the end of the movie he was a hero. By letting him "defend" himself by dodging and shooting, it took away from the .. message of hope of change lol.

But Han Rules.

As for Vader, I was scared of him when I was a kid. Now at 26.. Yoda from Empire strikes back freaks me out.

I don't doubt that GL has vision...otherwise there wouldn't BE any Star Wars. He just needs someone else to filter and focus it for him. ESB is a great example. It's Lucas' vision...but was directed by someone else. And, ESB is definitely the best of the original trilogy.

There's no doubt in my mind that Eps 1 and 2 would have been 100x better, had Lucas brought in an outside director. Granted, he did say he wanted to do Ep 1 himself, so he could establish the visual feel for the prequels. But, it could've been alot better if he would've brought in some assistance on the screenplays (ugh...the dialogue just sucks) and someone to co-direct.

It looks like he's finally on track with Ep 3...but he wasted 2 whole movies to get there...

I dunno, I think that the prequels are and always will be vastly different than the original trilogy, which is why I like them. I think a lot of people got really turned off by Jar Jar and thought good ol' Georgie lost his mind.

I've read/seen/heard a lot of what GL has had to say about both sets of trilogies, and I love them both dearly, albeit for different reasons. I thought Attack of the Clones was friggin awesome. Probably my second favorite next to ESB...although RotS will most likely change that.

I think GL is brilliant. I know you have the Star Wars purists out there that think it's a crime to have redone the original trilogy, but apart from Han shooting first, I like the new stuff, it ties everything up nicely. As a film/broadcasting major in college, I really see what he means about changing it to match his vision, because everyone knows the technology just wasn't there when he made the first three. Now it is, and it's his vision, he can do what he likes with it. I think they guy's a genius...but in some way, I also feel terrible, because he's been encompassed with SW for over 3 decades now, and I'm sure he wants to do other stuff. American Graffiti was damned brilliant, and I can't wait to see what else he's going to come up with in the future.

If you appreciate the prequels for what they are (an entirely different story and time than the original trilogy,) you'll enjoy the entire thing as a whole much better.

Just my two cents.

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

I didn't see Han shooting Greedo as murder. It was still self-defense as Greedo was holding a deadly weapon on Han and obviously meant to kill him. Han drew his weapon, knowing Greedo's intentions, and defended himself. That's the way I always saw it, so the change, as horrible as it looks, doesn't take anything away from Han's character for me as it was defense either way.

That aside, HAN SHOT FIRST!
