For me, it was definately the scene in the cantina where Greedo got blasted. I think Lucas' biggest mistake was changing that scene up so Greedo shot first (I still can't believe that scene made it into the final cut, being as jerky as it originally was), but they're his movies I guess...

Wouldn't it be cool if the new smuggling contracts gave us a chance to shoot first. You know:
You're on your way with a "package"
A BH comes and offers you a chance to buy out of an incap.
and you shoot him.

imagine if GL had vision.......
I don't doubt that GL has vision...otherwise there wouldn't BE any Star Wars. He just needs someone else to filter and focus it for him. ESB is a great example. It's Lucas' vision...but was directed by someone else. And, ESB is definitely the best of the original trilogy.
There's no doubt in my mind that Eps 1 and 2 would have been 100x better, had Lucas brought in an outside director. Granted, he did say he wanted to do Ep 1 himself, so he could establish the visual feel for the prequels. But, it could've been alot better if he would've brought in some assistance on the screenplays (ugh...the dialogue just sucks) and someone to co-direct.
It looks like he's finally on track with Ep 3...but he wasted 2 whole movies to get there...
I dunno, I think that the prequels are and always will be vastly different than the original trilogy, which is why I like them. I think a lot of people got really turned off by Jar Jar and thought good ol' Georgie lost his mind.
I've read/seen/heard a lot of what GL has had to say about both sets of trilogies, and I love them both dearly, albeit for different reasons. I thought Attack of the Clones was friggin awesome. Probably my second favorite next to ESB...although RotS will most likely change that.
I think GL is brilliant. I know you have the Star Wars purists out there that think it's a crime to have redone the original trilogy, but apart from Han shooting first, I like the new stuff, it ties everything up nicely. As a film/broadcasting major in college, I really see what he means about changing it to match his vision, because everyone knows the technology just wasn't there when he made the first three. Now it is, and it's his vision, he can do what he likes with it. I think they guy's a genius...but in some way, I also feel terrible, because he's been encompassed with SW for over 3 decades now, and I'm sure he wants to do other stuff. American Graffiti was damned brilliant, and I can't wait to see what else he's going to come up with in the future.
If you appreciate the prequels for what they are (an entirely different story and time than the original trilogy,) you'll enjoy the entire thing as a whole much better.
