Thread: A chuckle for the smuggler
This was awhile ago...but...long story short he didn't have the money...I was in a hurry and in a good mood so I offered him his stuff but he had to pay me back within 2 weeks plus a modest fee of 25% of what he owed me.
He didn't pay....it was something like 45k that he owed me...so about 3 weeks later I send him a /tell saying "I have now placed a bounty on you with Master Bounty Hunter (friend of mine) for not paying the debt owed. He says that I overcharge and Master Smugglers only charge 2k per slice. I reminded him that I told him upfront on the cost and that if you want a 2k slice...should have gone to someone that wasn't a Master Smuggler. He basically tells me to f-off and I reply.
I am still in a good mood, and amused that he actually believed the player bounty ... so I negotiate a settlement for the fun of it. He pays something like 35k ... and ... since i am in such a good mood at the amusement ... I turn around and tip him $100k.
He didn't see the $100k and replied with some snide remark how I take advantage of Noobs ... and I reply with ... hey dummy ... I just gave you a free $100k ... back off.

me:"27% speed increase"(ofcourse..it was fate!)
guy:"Awww..I told you damage!, It was already fast!"
me:"Yeah, I got the hint, sorry, told you it was random, here's your weapon"
guy"**edit**! You made it slower!!!"
me:"How so?"
guy:"It used to be 3.8 speed, now it's 2.3"
me:"yeah, umm...would you rather the rifle fire once every 3.8 seconds or once every 2.3 seconds?"
guy"Oh...right, can you slice it for 30% Damage now?"

Great thread. I'm only just starting Smuggler so don't have any smuggler stories but here's one I like to call "Don't judge a book by it's cover"
I was a master TKA, master Doctor and novice artisan (for the doc resources). I had a full suit of 80% kinetic composite armor and knuckles for TKA, the sweetest BE clothing with looted clothing attachments and a republic blaster for doctor and a simple suit and CDEF pistol for my artisan. All of these were macro'd for quick change.. I had just finished a harvestor run on Tatooine and decided to drive over to AH to see if there was any groups forming for xp, loot, company, chewing the fat etc. As I drive into AH, I see a bunch of people milling around the bridge, the leader spamming for people to join their group. Specifically for medics or tanks. (I should point out at this time that they were all pistoleers, carboneers, rangers etc. Elite classes)
I climb off my bike, wave to the guy and trot over.
Me - "Hi, room for one more?"
Leet dude - "we're full, sorry"
me - "eh? you were spamming for people"
Leet dude - "we got enough now"
me - *shrug* ok
I walk away and realise I've still got my novice artisan tag on. Just then a smaller, mixed elite/starter group shouts that they have room and would be happy to group with me. So I walk towards them, passing the L33ts as I do, and shout out...
"What do you need?" *click* "master TKA" *click* "or master doctor"
I took great delight in telling the L33ts that, even if they suddenly had room, I wouldn't be joining them at that time.

I think a lot of us have had the accidental OVER PAYMENT BY ONE ZERO happen at some point...
I was slicing in Coronet last night when this lady sees me yelling and asks if I can slice a couple of weapons for her. I say 'certainly' and we trade. From the banter that ensued, I could tell she was fairly new, but not totally new. I finish the slicing, tell her the tab will be 5600.She says "Okey, plus I'll give you a small tip, but I'll have to bank tip you". I said fine, no problem. A few secs later I see an E-mail come in with her name on itand, without looking at it, give her her weapons back. She happily says "Thanks" and goes on her way.
A few minutes later I get to catch a breath so I decide to checkout the emails. I see hers and notice that instead of 7000 she has given me 70000 !! So I send her a tell "Are you sure about that money??". A few seconds later she replies "???" like "What are you talking about".... then all of a sudden I see "O M F G !!" come blasting in, followed by "Thats almost everything I have!Can I get some of it back?". I just laughed, tipped herback 64400and sent the following tell to her: "Ijust tipped you back the 70K minus the 5600 charge. Enjoy, and take care! :-)".
A few minutes later I get an Email with a 10K tip in it."That's for being honest! You are now on my friend's list as my preferred slicer!".

Lol, those are all Bollywood movies which I used to watch as a kid. The old ones especially were really famed for overacting and overdramatization

So I get my first one today. I'm slicing at Coronet. I slice this guy's carbine. It was a crappy slice 16% damage, I think. So anyway, I pull up the trade window, put in the gun. Under payment he enters.

"It's 2k sir."
nothing. I repeat myself.
"I'll have to /tip you the rest."
I think to myself, "Why?" and tell him, "or you can tip me now."
So he runs off to the bank. I just shrug and go about my business. I'm waiting and waiting, and he's not back so i send him a tell asking if everything's ok. Turns out he didn't have the money. He was out running a mission and was en route on his way back. Cool I say, It happens to the best of us sometimes. But the guy's an idiot because he HEARD it was 2k per slice before he came up. Oh well. He comes back. We try and trade some more. He gives me 1300.
"Um. Sir. It's 2k." We go through this again. By now I'm REAL sick of the dude. So I tell him I'll cut him a deal. I'll take the 1300, just so he understands most smugglers KEEP guns people can't pay for. I figure he's a noob. I'll cut him some slack. Sure enough he goes to pay me. "Oh it won't let me accept for some reason." Yeah. Right. Ok. Now I get it. "How about I just /tip it to you after we trade?"
Yeah. How about you tip me now. We stare at each other. I've got my inventory window up, eyeing my bank statement because....
Lo and behold. "I tipped you."
"Uhh nope. You see I understand how buggy this thing can be, and how easy it is to miss it, so I've been keeping an eye on my amount of money. It hasn't moved."
Silence. Opens the trade window. I put in his gun. He puts in...nothing. And he accepts. I, of course, do not.
We sit there. STARING. All of the sudden, I'm not so friendly.
"Since you have been unable to compensate me for my services I am now forced to hold your gun. You may buy it back off your vendor for 4000 credits, twice the original price for the inconvencience you've caused me. I shall email you the waypoint."
I leave for my vendor. At the shuttle I tell him the same. I send the email. I put the gun on my vendor. 4k for a E11 carbine. Don't know how it ranks among carbines but I have to say, it's not terrible. If he doesn't pay me by next friday I put it up on the bazaar or auction it off here.
By the way. The whole transaction took about an HOUR!!!! I don't care if his mother called dying, make me wait an HOUR after I try and cut you some slack, you're payin' double.
Oh and he's on Intrepid and his name is MadMax. Just so you guys know.
