This has been a long-standing bug that was fixed because of the impending GCW changes.

I try my best to stay positive as cool about the state of our profession as is traditional among our smugglers... but really how lame is this? There had to be other ways around whatever the perceived problem that FD has in the eyes of the developers without nerfing one of the only useful skills we have. Just this week the proposed merchant change went back to the drawing board due to a community uproar... please accord us the same curtisy. Explain why this "bug" that has endured for over a year and a half needs to be "fixed" now. Ask us what should be done about it... don't just put a patch on test center and hope we don't notice the patch note. As someone else has said in this very long thread, there was a lot of progress made towards making us trust that our best interest were a priority. All that is once again gone... please start apologizing soon... anything else is unacceptable.

I don't know about roleplaying, cause i'm not into that at all but what the dev's could have easily have done with feign death is this.

1. Feign death counts as an incap, however you cannot be deathblowed. The same rules would apply to feign death as the 3 incap rule. You feign 3x's in x amount of minutes and bam, your dead.

2. The first box in feign death gives you a +45 to feign, which means there is little chance in failing. Change this and give a big bonus in the master box.

I'm a jedi and i have feign death, i wont sit here and piss/moan about it being changed. I feel for you guys and this really sucks. To be honest i only use feign death when i get wife agro and or my daughter wakes up in the middle of the night and needs her dad I'm almost done with master sabers and i have yet to use feign death from a bh. if a bh kills me, so be it it's not the end of the world. I personlally rake in less xp in a set of buffs when i know i'm on the terms cause i'm constantly looking over my back to say . Its' the loss of xp when you hit the cloner i'm worried about.

i know i'm not a smuggler, Useed to be at one point, but do you guys think that that's a good idea or no?

NO SMUGGLER WORTH HIS OR HER SALT EVER USED THIS IN PVP ANYWAY.

I did thank you very much, and many other smugglers did too. plz refrain from opening your mouth on a subject you obviously know nothing about

Like I said, no Smuggler worth his or her salt.

I've been a Smuggler from the day it was brought into the game in beta when we had to have eng4 as a pre-req which is where i got into Weaponsmithing as well. So, please refrain from opening your mouth on a subject you obviously know nothing about. You were one of the ones that used the "lame button" in PvP that has brought this about so zip it and ill stand by my comments.

you're not helping things by trying to turn the community against itself. Truth of the matter is some didn't use it and others (like myself) used it to its full extent to gather intel, keep people in one spot so that an attack was successfull, recover from an unexpected attack or whathaveyou. The use of this skill has nothing whatsoever to do with your skill as a pvp'er or a smuggler, so get off it. Its not like by complaining about this is gonna change anything. Use this, use our understanding of this change and fight for our future skills instead.

The question is NOT if youcan get killed in PvP. Feign Death is not intended for PvP. The question is can you get DB'd in PvE?

And your proof for that statement (bolded in the quote above) would be?

/sigh...many people heard a DEV say that out loud at Fan Fest when FD was asked about.

There, happy now? There's your proof. I was there, so was Fishbrains.

With all due respect, then why the heck when we were filling up the boards with suggestions to fix FD, didn't a Dev swoop in and just say, "We intend to disable FD in PvP" Would've there been an uproar, yes, but there is one now anyway. I just feal like they were bidding their time and wasting ours.

The most asinine thing I see with this situation: Smuggler is one of the THREE ICONIC Professions in this game.

Star Wars is all about Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, and Han Solo: Jedi, Bounty Hunters, and SMUGGLERS.

Um, Boba Fett had maybe 10 minutes of screen time total... How is Star Wars all about him? What about the Princess and Darth Vader and the Emporer and the other leaders of the Rebellion? What about the Wookiee? What about the droids? Heck the movies are the droid's stories more than they are Bobe Fett's story.

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

I know, I scratch my head and wonder the same thing. I honestly believe if some semblance of communication had happened, we might have taken it a little better. But this...this was atrocious. We have been treated like an ugly harlot after the sunrise.

Most of the people here aren't discouraged, they're pissed. It's not the FD nerf that is most angering either, it's the manner in which it was done. There has yet to be a Smuggler change that we had advanced knowledge of. It's suprisiing that they even mentioned this in the patch notes. They knocked us down again with no warning, without even telling us that things weren't working as they wanted them to, not a single bug note, and nothing in compensation.

Once again this profession got a low blow in favor of the gameplay of other professions.

Why is it that near every skill in the Smuggler tree is deemed not working as intended and yet they can continue to delay making any improvements on the profession?

Absolutely /agree with this.

5 stars

Some of us, like myself, had always playing this profession by love and by interested for roleplay. It seems that we deserve more than respect, like the poor and disrespectful Tigg's annonce (why don't this did not figure in In Dev Notes and we'd discovered it on TC ?).

Then, if the devs love this community as we love OUR game (sorry, SOE, this is our game, not onlyDev's game), we're excepting some details about this nerf. About myself, my character will no longer do slices (I call all smugglers do to a Slice Strike) until SOE will be able / want to clarify this situation. By respect.

If masters (not talking about dabblers) smugglers does not have a compensationregarding this nerf,I'll surrend at least. Or else, I'll cancel.

I'm tired ofnonrespecting promeses.

Actually, I have to confess, I have never 1-starred anyone until today. I saw so many inflamatory, idiotic, un-referenced, un-supported attacks on respected members of this community, I snapped. Only did it once or twice, and only to people i've never seen on this board before. So, i guess i'm guilty as well. But in all honesty, the posts i 1-starred weren't worth my time to bother mentioning.

Anyway, I've said it before, i'll say it again: If a Combat skill is not intended to work in PvP, why bother having it in the first place? If i'm not mistaken, this is supposed to be an immersive, interactive Massively Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game. This, supposidly indicates a level of inter-dependence and contact, and, in some instances, competition with other players. To have a Combat skill that only has applications in 20% of the game is a waste of resources that could have been better spent developing a (gasp) smuggling system.
(To be clear, I understand the gamebraking nature FD had with Bounties and other PvP situations. I'm stating that either the skill should have been designed in such a way to balance in PvP, or not have been developed in the first place.)

---
For our visiting BHs in the forums who still don't quite understand why making FD "worthless" in PvP is so upsetting, imagine this situation:

Originally, SWG had no Player-bounties, correct? There weren't Jedi around for you to exterminate, so the only "bounties" you had were NPC characters (i.e. PvE gameplay).Suddenly, all these Jedi showed up and started messing with things. After months of development you were capable of going out and killing them, "thinning the herds" as I have heard said on numerous occasions. Life seemed good, because you finally had a way to impliment your skills (which, I might add, required you to spend skill-points on) in a competitive PvP environment. You weren't playing PS2 Bounty Hunter anymore, you were doing what SWG promised.

Now what if I told you because of Jedi complaints, you couldn't use any of your Tracking Droids anymore? Because, let's face it, when your tracking droids were initially developed, they "weren't intended for PvP." Oh, those droids might still work against NPCs, but a player-Jedi is too smart to let a droid find them. In fact, if a Jedi happened to see a Tracking Droid coming after them, well the Jedi'd obviously destroy it before it could report back to the BH on his movements. It's just silly to assume a Jedi, with all their Force Powers, would allow a simply Droid to find them, isn't it? And it'd gamebreaking too. It doesn't let those poor Jedi kill every defenseless critter in the Galaxy so they can grind up /UberSkill3.

Hmmmm...wow, it really does suck to have a skill become PvE only, doesn't it?
