Thread: Smuggler Request to the Devs to clarify the changes on Feign Death. What does it mean to us?
1. Feign death counts as an incap, however you cannot be deathblowed. The same rules would apply to feign death as the 3 incap rule. You feign 3x's in x amount of minutes and bam, your dead.
2. The first box in feign death gives you a +45 to feign, which means there is little chance in failing. Change this and give a big bonus in the master box.
I'm a jedi and i have feign death, i wont sit here and piss/moan about it being changed. I feel for you guys and this really sucks. To be honest i only use feign death when i get wife agro and or my daughter wakes up in the middle of the night and needs her dad

I have read most of the posts in this thread, and all I can say is don't get discouraged. I play five accounts in this game, all with different professions. Most of those professions hopelessly broken or totally useless, but I play them anyway, because I still have fun doing so. You are complaining about Feign Death? Heh, at least it still works in PVE.
My BH/pistoleer has no chance in hell against a jedi (pistoleer only having 3 working specials to start with, and BH being nerfed to death), and is pretty useless in PVE because all high-end mobs can be killed MUCH faster by melee fighters, and worse, tend to kill her in 5 minutes flat.
My BE can only make some pets no ones wants, and is otherwise a schematic monkey for Chefs and Tailors. No SP to do anything much useful on his own.
My architect is still dealing with a total lack of color palettesand bugs with items that simply will not crate, but are needed in factory identicals. Not to mention our inability to even EXPERIMENT on some items that need experimenting.
My entertainer would be totally bored to hell if I did not have fighter toons to play on (content? what content?)
Yes, you have been promised a revamp. And the way things have been moving lately, I think you will get one within months, and it will be worth it.
As for jedi and BHbeing the only reason for the FD nerf: I don't think so. It has been a problem in PVP for a long time now, from FD base shutdowns to smugglers going FD in combat zones for hours on end, to report on enemy movements/progress. The Jedi/BH stuff was only the latest in a long line.
Placing the ability in the master box would not really help, I think: it would just make smuggler yet another profession where only masters can do anything worthwhile. The answer should rather be adding more skills, filling out the underworld tree, adding the new spices I have read discussions about in this and other forums.
Linna
(and no, my fifth toon is not jedi, she just has 2 skills that actually work: doc and swordsman)
No offense, but every profession you mentioned is functioning. It may be missing some additional desired aspects, but they are working. You get to do what you're supposed to do at the very least.
Most of the people here aren't discouraged, they're pissed. It's not the FD nerf that is most angering either, it's the manner in which it was done. There has yet to be a Smuggler change that we had advanced knowledge of. It's suprisiing that they even mentioned this in the patch notes. They knocked us down again with no warning, without even telling us that things weren't working as they wanted them to, not a single bug note, and nothing in compensation.
Once again this profession got a low blow in favor of the gameplay of other professions.
Why is it that near every skill in the Smuggler tree is deemed not working as intended and yet they can continue to delay making any improvements on the profession?
They know they should have taken the time to speak about this to us! HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW the crap would hit the fans over this. If they tested this in 1 or 2 or 3 weeks it would have done almost nothing to the game as it stands now! Out of courtesy and respect I think they should have taken the time to ask us what we at least "thaught about it", or at most for our feedback and ideas. It feels like last week they threw us a bone, because they knew they were about to take the meat. While this move may not hurt anybody who PvEs. It just broke my game! I'm really damn near worthless in battle now. Least before I could afford to be brave (even with out any type of weapon mods), now I stand a 90% chance of dieing & if I /feignDeath; I stand a 100% chance of dying. Ohh, well, I give up I'm going to sleep now!

Believe it or not, it's a sign of their neck break speed/vast amount of work that they're doing in order to get publishes of this calibre out in time; when they can show us stuff before hand they do, when their timetable doesn't permit it, they can't.I must say that I feelI and all the other correspondents have been treated with respect.

Man, Wes. This makes the abysmal "communication" between SOE and Smugglers even worse than I thought. I am truly sorry they have treated you with suchutter disrepect.

p.s. I think you meant "bear" with me, but the words "bum" and "bare" in consecutive sentences on the same line sure did make me grin heh
As for bear/bare, I'd say I meant it as a pun, but unfortunately I was typing as fast as my finger tips would physically allow anddidn't bother to check

Guys, I'm a DE-Pistoleer, not a smuggler, but I gotta say...a "feign death" is you faking that your dead, correct? If someone calls the bluff and realizes you're not dead, be it another player or a MOB that wins the "roll" against your feign death ability, shouldn't they get to still attack you? They called your bluff. It makes more sense to me.

The intention is that you can be deathblowed while feign-death(ed). If not this is essentially an invuln button for PvP.
This has been a long-standing bug that was fixed because of the impending GCW changes.
Thanks for the info. That's what I call an answer.
If there was a "roll" I would agree. This takes that completely out of the equation. It's a 100% fail now. In fact thanks for bringing up one of the ways the Smuggler community thought of to stop the jedi/BH abuse....by scaling the skills affectiveness such that it is rarely useful in the early stages and mostly successful at master.
That was one of many.

Not really. See, theirs no way to "fool" them. They will know if we FD, they will know if we are dead or not. There will never be anybody fooling them! Unless your in a HUGE battle theres no way they would ever forget to DB us. Ohh and even if they were in a big battle and forgot to DB us they could always use this macro:
/target corpse;
/deathBlow;
/m DB
We should have known something was up last week when they acted nice to us and even said "Truce", shoudl have known it would turn out JUST LIKE THIS!
By the way this is the most popular thread ive ever posted ! :-P
just wish it didnt have to be abotu this crap!

And your proof for that statement (bolded in the quote above) would be?

Well its obviously how the devs feel.
