And yes, I realize some of that will go away with time / comfort level, but not the general pace.

Oh, and having cl136 Giant kimo lairs spawn on top of you and isntantly trash both you and your bike... as a lvl80 char in armor... with 170 melee defense.. is um... BOOSHIP

(wonders again what his +4 luck gets him)

No, this toons on bria... but i usually play on TC so I don't have a full arsenal

Most of what I've been doing is getting my bearings by driving around lok and killing whever i run into (corsairs, pirates, gurk kings) and avoiding the lvl 100+ kimo.

As for rooting I'm about to give it up, nevermind find a way to root more things. It just makes combat totally devoid of any action.

Someone help me, but I'm still not feeling it.. played a bunch as smuggler / tkm (mostly ranged) and now and smuggler/commando and combat still feels slow and tedious.

I've got my combat log open and i'm trying to watch that

I've to my other eye on icons in the corner so I know when i can trigger something else

maybe i need to kill something higer level

or find some new commando weps or something

but what i've been doing these past two days is just dull and totally unexciting.

I kinda felt that way when I took MS/MC/TK 4000/Pistols 3000

I liked the weapons I had access to but didn't feel I had the abilities to use them at their potential.

With MBH I got those abilites AND speed. I found that I could control the targets position and states strategicly and that made combat a lot more fun.

Also with the changes in Weapon Certs and the combination of MBH weaps- and Commando 0400 weaps. I have an great variety of viable guns to chose from.

I would suggest putting your abilites on your task bar and hunting something that's safe but not easy- like level 50 something. Then use a couple of weapons and see which abilities cause the longest cool downs and affect other abilities.

For example: I learned that with my when I use Concussion Shot with my FWG, Critical Shot is the first ability to regen. So these shots make a great combo.

There is also a trick that involves Concussion Shot, Confusion Shot, and Underhand that pins your target to the ground for like 10-20 seconds. I've done it 3 times but I am not quite sure what the hell order or how I'm doing it. It might also have something to do with the LBC 'cause that is the weapon I was using when I did it.

All I can say is keep playing and experimenting- this system is WAAAAAAAY better than the old one, though.

Here are my thoughts on the CU.

1. The icons that everyone has been complaining about although I could live without them, they arent all that bad. A few minor changes with them and I think they will be great.

2. I was really upset with the XP gains. As a level 65 I could kill just about anything on Dant last night but everything gave me 1 XP. Overall the combat was vewry enjoyable I thought. I could take on a level 50-55 mob with no difficulties however if I got 3 or 4 on me then things got scary and tactics were extremely important. The biggest downfall of the night for me was the fact that I couldnt find anything to kill to get xp hardly (found one lair all night that I got XP off of).

3. There are many, many, many, many annoying UI bugs. Nothing game breaking though so I can live with them for now.

4. I had 2 Krayt Scatters before the CU. Will call them Scatter1 and Scatter2. Scatter one used to be a midrange Krayt Scatter. About 50 max damage lower than Scatter2. Scatter2 was a very nice scatter. Now after the CU Scatter1 was 25dps better than Scatter2. Also I had an LLC before the CU with max damage of over 1050 and now its max is 500 something. I 5 flamethrowers in my inventory all from the same crate pre-cu and now they all 5 have different stats. They had never even been equiped. Item conversion is so messed up.

5. I didnt mind the particle effects as I had them turned off under options.

Those are the major things I can remember from last night. Overall I would give the CU a slightly above average. I could really learn to enjoy it and although there are things I already miss about pre-cu I think I can learn to like this game even more.

sure, rooting itself isn't very exciting.... havingfive critters charge the group, one of them going after you, watching a wounded team mate take off because one targeted him, rooting the one that aggro'd you so you can run to assist your matey, taking that one out, having two other team members take out the one after you, regrouping and going back after the other three.... that's exciting.

I agree, combat was a blast last night; though I think i'll have to memorize my toolbar, those icons make my eyes hurt

you know, I was actually starting to think the CU wasnt as bad, Of course, that helped because I'd had all my skill points spent and could respec a full template.

Then Chimaera was rolled back to friday, and then converted again. All the preperations I made. gone.

What do we get in return 4x xp!

Balanced?

Tell that, with a straight face, to the entertainers. Their elite professions were gutted, they are screwed on health (like a Master Dancer wouldn't have as much health as a Doctor), and though they put as much time into their profession as any combat profession they aren't allowed to respec...while docs are.

That's some kind of balance...or did you just mean combat balance? Like the only thing TO this game is combat.

I fully acknowledge the NEED for certain aspects of the CU and I fully acknowledge that certain aspects are interesting. I just happen to think they threw the baby out with the bathwater releasing it in the condition it's in and with some of the huge compromises they made. For example; everyone that is combat worth now has the same health, action and mind are all identical and the number of HAM components are cut from 9 to 3. That and not being able to modify your characters HAM make it considerably less diverse.

And, while they MIGHT give Entertainers some content back to match the skill points spent they are most likely to do it on the same schedule as the Smuggler Revamp has been for us. Sorry, but the cost of this CU was just too high for my taste since I do more in this game than shoot at things and people.

As far as combat is concerned, seeing as this IS the combat upgrade, then yes, the devs have/are doing a VERY kickass job. Grab some friends and do the DWB or the Warren; it's a ton of f'ing fun.

What is even better is dying in the DWB and not having to worry about not having to get buffs. It rocks, Spinning.Just let it rest at that.

You need to get a group of people and only stick on the planets the devs have balanced so far, like the core worlds and endor, dantooine, and one other I can't remember. Believe me, once you do the DWB, warren, or some other dungeon/themepark you will be converted. Do it with friends.

Well, this toon really is solo.. lives on the bottom of lok and has no current ties... really a dead alt i'm only plaing becase TC is down.

As for running the dwb with a group or something,... meh, one can't do that 24/7... theres so much else to this game... spending a few hours killing corsiars to get an agitatr motor for a recycler... even for the vette you've gotta run around and kill a few bloodrazors or dive into the warren or something to get the data... that's the kind of run around solo thing that was tolerable (or at least engaging) before... now I just feel completely removed.

And to Lok not being balanced yet? when the FUDGE are they gonna get around to that? and whats balaned? Making all GDKs lvl 65 like they did Krayt on tat?

Still not impressed or even the least bit excited.

Still trying.

i really enjoyed myself last night too!!!!

i went hunting for Juvinile Krayts with a buddy of mine. right now Krayts' levels are bugged so the Juvies are pretty much solo-able.

it was a lot of fun.

i know entertainers and crafters have taken a hit with this. but i remain hopeful that the coming changes and additions to the game will get them both back on track with the fun factor. (now that we have a balanced combat system, people wont be whining to nerf this or that. so the devs can finally concentrate on adding and revamping game systems so they're more fun)

but as far as the strictly combat issues, they did a pretty darn good job balancing the COMBAT professions.

6 of us tried the DWB and I have to tell you nothing is more satisfying than seeing a SBD die so quickly but anyway we did well until one of us died he tried to run back in to us but dragged everything after us. They killed everyone else int he group except for me as a MS/MBH and my friend a MBH/MC we where the only true LvL 80's in the group so we held our own completly surrounded until the rest of the group made it down to us.

Well they couldn't even get through the door without getting killed by 6 Battle Droids so we decided to run for it. I told my friend to wait till I told him to follow so I could agro, we hit burst run and right as I get to the grass I hit FD low and behold it works and we both get out scratch free. All I could think of after that was, omfg THAT was Star Wars...
