Thread: Interesting comment
If any of this is going to be put in play, they need to look at giving smugglers some evasion skills. If they don't want to give us the same stealth type skills as they're giving to rangers fine...ie: the whole theft thing, I can live without the theft thing. I do however feel we should be able to evade people who are after us or our cargo (rangers/bounty hunters). I don't think this should mean just slicing their mission terms and getting our names off their terms, though I want that, I think it involves a skillset that smugglers need. There are others who have come up with a detailed version of Evasion and what it should entail but I of course can't find it now.
If anyone cares to supply what I'm talking about, I'd be very grateful.
I like this idea if it's implemented well.
As others have said we need some kind of pasive observation skill that works as a dice roll against a rangers stealth ability. Also if a rangers does manage to steal our cargo we need the ability to get it back from them with in a limited time say 1 min.
The way I would like to see this implimented is this.
Proposal
Smugglers get an observation skill in their skill tree.
You get a bonus as you go up the skill tree and by master smuggler you have a 50/50 chance of breaking a master rangers stealth ability.
If a master ranger does steal your cargo he is imediatly attackable and you have a time limit to fight him and steal it backfrom his incaped body or corpse
If you manage to break his stealth at any time heis imediatly attackable and youhave the choice of either running or fight the ranger. Which one you choose would depend on weather he has just stolen your valuable cargo or if you found him before he had had the chance.![]()
This must be consensual on both sides.

No, stealing really isn't a part of being a Smuggler, but it's a lot more underhanded then anything Smugglers have, even with the proposed Smuggler changes. While stealing may not be truely "Smugglerish", the skill would really make me, atleast, feel more "illegal" and underhanded then I do now, or probably ever will, as a Smuggler.

Stealing, no not really. Unless it's stealing an identity or the key/code to something we have to get past... but we have slicing for that if it were ever implemented properly.
What's troubling is 2 fold:
1. They're still only talking about really smuggling spice.
2. They're talking about us being content for Rangers. I have no problem being content for another profession, but give it a better reasoning than stealing spice from me. Make em take missions to interrupt me smuggling for someone's rival. Make it something worthwhile, not just "as part of the new smuggling missions, Rangers can steal spice from Smugglers running said missions".
As pointed out in another reply to another thread... it's like Rangers now have more part in the Underworld then Smugglers do.
I really don't see how it's going to work out.

smuggler 'I-B pegleg' is carring a load of spices intended for jabba, somewhere else. on his travels he passes through bestine. while some helpless level 13 noob is distacting the imperial troops at the gate to the starport he heads in.
inside however is ranger xXxjames bondxXx, who steals I-B pegleg's cargo. what happens then? Is our hero I-B out of luck, or can he retaliate (/tell xXxjames concussionshot ftw, noob!)? can he hire a bountyhunter (/tt I'll get my main!one!1), or will he meet the wrath of fettclone pwnzjoo the resident bounty hunter?
I am hoping, the fettclone pwnzjoo gets to kill them both, and letthe maker sort them out...
but, this opens up alot of interesting possibilities.
oh, and.. happy ITLP day all, arr!
There isn't enough info to make sense yet but with SOEs track record in the Jedi/BH relationship it really has the propensity to be the next great player grief. Are smugglers really despirate enough to be noticed that they would subject themselves to being another professions content?
This would only be good to the Jedi because the player griefing BH would instantly grind Ranger for the fresh chances to grief.

hmm, very interesting indeed. allow me to run a hyperthetical scenario by you smugglers:

they seid somewere taht we'd be able to attack them the moment we dected them which happens after they steal the cargo or if we get lucky before then we just run

i would say NPCs only as you cant reach into a krayts pockets to steal stufff from them cna you
Sure you can, but since they don't carry wallets its useless. No one likes loose change. This one time, I tried it, but the Krayt had some gummy worms that were all sticky in there. I decided that day to never do that again.

3. WHY THE HELL CAN'T WE GET A REVAMP?!?!?!?! Seriously, they "don't" want to focus onlarge scale profession revamps, yet others are getting them. Once again, the rule that is applied to us, is never applied to the rest of the game. Wes, this IS a question that needs to get answered at this point. They've now brought theft into the game. Having a smuggling system SHOULD not be that far off. Better yet, they say PvP theft is supported, so PfP smuggling SHOULD now be supported (at least in the minds of the team).
