Holy cow, check me out...I did say modify without even thinking about it. I must be one logical guy, huh?

Even tho tailors are the pack builders of the game, I think that giving them the option to make these packs is a good idea. We all know that in the first few days that they are makeable by tailors, EVERYBODY will be able to wear them because of some bug and there goes our smuggling since now everyone has a smuggling bonus. I say let the smuggler slice his own pack (or make it so we can only slice CERTAIN KINDS of packs... ie Travelers Pack, Tech Pack, and Military Pack) and chose the option. Would you pick 25% more capacity (on a 60 slot pack, thats an extra 15 slots), or a spice experimentation bonus, or a bonus to slicing???
Im kinda torn between making this a one time thing, or having the ability to have different packs with different bonuses for different things...
Don't think extra capacity will be an option, It would give players too much total inventory space.. I believe this is why storage modules for droids can only hold 10 Items total.. Even the hulking Binary Load Lifters can only hold 10 Items. They only want people to be able to carry so much stuff it seems.

Yeah, I kind of said the same thing. Let the tailor make the pack, only a couple of different kinds of packs are okay with me, then let the smuggler modify his pack so that nobody, not even the tailor knows he has a smuggler pack. I would also add that once a smuggler modifies his pack to a "smuggler's pack" or whatever, that only smugglers of a certain level (either Master Smuggler or Underworld IV or something) be able to wear it. I also think it should have a hidden pocket and only things in the hidden pocket are to be hidden from the scanners.

I think that having it crafted by a tailor would help the interactivity the dev's love so much. But other than that this would be a nice addition.

This has been around for awhile in one form or another but not sure if it's been really though of yet seriously by the Devs. Personally I have thought the Tailor would make the pack but a smuggler would make a sub component that would give the "Smuggler's Pack" it's fake bottom/hidden compartment(s) ability. This would give Tailors another item to craft while giving Smugglers something to actually smuggle goods in. Items in this pack or in just the possibly hidden bonus compartment (ex: extra storage space) when used by a smuggler (which would have the evading scans skill) would give them the ability to hide things during scans. Now if this was done so that smugglers packs could be in any of the normal tailoring packs this would also add more emersion due to the fact you couldn't stell by just looking who was smuglging or not, rather then adding another pack to the game. This would also give tailors a slightly more criminal aspect by being able to facilitate Smugglers in their jobs. Another quick note, if the Smuggler failed to hide their gear during the detection, possibly have not the pack removed but just the subcomponent and the items in that small container as punishment... if they do not escape their capture/death.

I could see us altering our Han Solo type vests to act as a container that we could wear in addition to a backpack. Maybe give it 20 inventory spaces like a satchel and some sort of scan immunity. Could be a schematic that we get from Jabba that a tailor could craft for us.

I like the idea...
Perhaps a loot drop that smugglers could add to an existing backpack (crafted by tailor) that would give a bonus to our underworld skills.
This could be a nice "gift" to the oft ignored smugglers.....

Of course if the devs never introduce real smuggling or bigger penalties to being caught with contraband it will never really be needed. It will just be a neat little thing to say you have.

i think the smuggler should be able to make the pack because the smuggler proffesion is really lame at the moment.

Well...I agree that a cool lookin' pack would be nice, but I think a Tailor shoud make it.
It had to be cool looking, kinda like a Spec-Ops pack or BH Pack.
