Well, if I had a year to come up with something.... you could bet your ass that it would be a lot better than whatever crap we're gonna end up getting will be.


Of course, whether it would be possible to even code into the game would be a different story. But that's not my problem. I'm an idea man! Hehe.

I really think both your ideas were good.


I'd like to add my 2 cents.


I like the idea of player smuggling a lot, and to expand on that - we should be given a skill that would allow any members of our group to become Invisible by SF and Overt forces. We can then "smuggle someone from Mos Eisley to say Bestine for example, and avoid all detection from the Imperials patrolling in and outside the starport. That will make smugglers a useful commodity allowing players to access cities they would normally not go to.


To really spice things up - the second you choose a side in the GCW - you are always Overt - no using leave time - or have leave time be a small amount of time - like 30min or 1hour in-game - but also reducing the combat level of the NPC troops patrolling the starports. Thus making it hard (but not impossible) for a member of the Imperials to drop in on Mos Esiley, or Rebels into Bestine. Providing a more immersive GCW feel. That way it would actually FEEL like a WAR. And we can use smugglers to also get people into PvP battles without being ganked after arriving in a city's shuttleport - the Smuggler can stay non-SF and his group-mates can be SF - then when the "Conceal Faction" ability wears off - the fight is on - or if someone in the group attacks a member of the opposite faction, then the Ability breaks for all group members. Kinda like a "Hey! There's Rebelsover there!" kinda thing.


I'm sure it can have other uses as well, but you can see my main applications for it in PvP and PvE on a regular basis. I'd love to set up shop in a starport and charge 1k (or more - heheheh - but it has to be reasonable - otherwise no business)per head for a trip from Mos Eisley to Talus to get some Rebels to a base raid going on there.



I think that combined with the mission types you are talking about - would make for a definate Smuggler Experiance (TM - Saarek Carvathos)

I would really like to see Jedi be illegal. Meaning they couldn't use certian things, like Public transportation on civilized worlds. Using there own star ship would mean having to fight of Imperial Ties in space until they could make the jump. This puts a need for a private transportation service ie. smuggling. Rebel areas should be fine for Light Jedi, but Dark Jedi get no such benifits and really have to fight or be smuggled.


On the ground Imperials should do more scans for anything illegal. Have Imperial patrols go into Player cities searching for illegal goods as well. Smugglers get your stuff to the star port in there modified Speeders. Jedi should get a mind trick to evade scans since they can't take shuttles.


This forces players to need us the same way they need a Doctor, entertainer, or Artisan.


Smuggling mission could be player drivin, ie. Drops of goods to be transported there Vendor in another city or planet. you get a time limit, if not done in that time you get a bounty, they get there stuff back.

I am completely against Smugglers being able to do anything helpful to Jedi.


I do believe that we should be able to have them think we can help them, only to lead them into a locked room with 20 BH's, all of whom have their mission and some serious bad attitudes.

ROFL, no kidding.


The number of times we've discussed player smuggling is mind boggling.


More to the point though is that there is a description of what SOE is going to do with smuggling content on In Concept. There are also player bounty suggestions in that same thread that tie into SOEs smuggling concept.


What they state there is what we're getting.


IF we get player bounties it may tie in as described in that thread.


There is NO talk of player smuggling...NONE. If we ever see it I doubt many of us will be around for it.


What is there to discuss? You want a rehash of our wish list for player smuggling? Why? SOE isn't going to give it to us any time soon. And, they already have access to those old threads so why do it all over again?

Please oh please I hope you are reading this page Tiggs - bring up these ideas with the marketing officials and see if than be implemented.


Most of us have lost faith in knowing our voices are being heard, like Spinning Cloud - I feel his pain - and I havent been playing nearly as long as he.


Thse changes would make Smuggling a very big selling point for the game. Imagine advertising that you can smuggle people and items just like Han Solo!


That would appeal to a much wider playerbase than just the 13 year old kid who wants to pretend to be a Jedi.




Please bring these ideas to the plate with people who will listen, becase I hope, oh I hope you are listening to us.
