oh where do we start (well, i should have started not by hitting reply)

1. I personally think we're going to have a problem in a month or two when people have used up their converted simple toolkits. That middle area I do think that drops need to be tweaked.. so that they drop reliably. Not often. Not campable. But in a way that you gan go out and know you're gonna wind up with a couple

2. I think these drops should be stacked. Not stacks of 15, but like 6-8. The big issue i have in numbers is that it just doesn't match th rest of the game well. Look at krayt tissues for example. I get a drop of 6 tissues I can make 6 amazing dl44xts, but to slice just ONE of them I may need 2 simple toolkits and one or 2 other drops? And dont get me started on armor slicing. If they're stacked this would also lessen the need to make them drop frequenly and not hurt the 'quest' factor as much.

3. To the original poster, I almost stopped reading when you complained about money sinks. thats not what this is.. the money is just being transfered to another player. Sinks take it out of the economy.. this game needs more sinks, I don't know if it needs more rich people.

I am praying that these will be some of the items to be Smuggled in our mythical Smuggler missions, and I am hoping for a stack of 5 in a crate even. I think I'd just rip off the shipment and deal with the NPC BH's then.

I am left with the VERY strong feeling that the devs need to put in smuggling missions with these components as rewards in the game very quickly!

I feel that basing thenon-combat aspect of outprofession entirely off of rare loot drops might be a step in the wrong direction, even though I do think it would be a blast to go out and loot them, I also feel that I would RATHER be having a blast doing smuggling missions for them and risky my ass to a PC or NPC bounty hunter for them.

Ya know the more I read the more I dont care... Loot or not I just wish we got this stuff from guys it makes sense from.. Why am I not getting these from pirates and smugglers?.. Krayts??..

Why cant I get work from the criminals of the galaxy to get this stuff?.. I think that would be a whole lot cooler.. Go talk to all them worthless criminal NPC's in the cantinas all over... Get missions for space and land that set diff of mobs by what we are goin after..

I wanna jack my stuff from Valarian frieghters... Duke it out with pirates on land and air... I wanna be payed in parts by the Hutts.. I wanna smuggle!.. I wanna feel like I am part of the underworld as a smuggler..

Slicing is an under the table kinda thing.. We should be doin shady things to get this stuff.. Fighting mobs and gettin loot is fine so long as its fun.. Goin and gettin a mission off a term and crossin fingers for loot is no good.. I want some lowlife to set me up on a run that yields the goods.. Lie, cheat, steal.....generaly do criminal things to make a livin on this slicing thing..

Am I the only smuggler who dont wanna be Han??.. I am in game a blood-thristy loon... I am a pirate and a smuggler yes, but not a nice one.

I was out trying to get the loot off the Krayts today, and there are already people trying to steal my kills. I admit that I never hunted Krayts before, so I have no idea how common this is, but I can tell you that it just makes looting my components that much harder.

I havnt made up my mind yet, but I see an account cancil in my near future. All 3 of them.

If slicing is the reason you play the game then by all means please cancel those accounts.

I do not want to see people go but if you honestly believe that this one change to our profession is worth crying over, then spill some milk while you're at it.

Yes, yes it is. No one wanted looted components. We are forced to go out and kill more stuff when we shouldnt have to. Dont you people realize that SOE is trying to get people to do more than they should. Its their form of content. I have to go krrayt huntng before i can slice some guys weapon? Give me a break thats horse crap. Since when is slicing a group effort? Oh its not. But i have to group to hunt for these components? Their creativity is nice, but they did this all wrong. Sure we can use old WUK/AUK's for now, what happens 3-5 months down the road when these are used up? What happens next week when they add a hotfix that removes old components ( could happen )? I mean seriously loot is ok, but having to face CL80+ elite mobs to get the loot is just crazy.

Sure we dont need them, and its not required. But slicing is a big part of the smuggler profession. They just hurt 1/3rd of our profession right there. Might not be bad later on, but there is still a problem with krayt drops. So whos to say our components wont be effected in that? And someone posted here or another post about killing 100+ black sun ships and still hasnt found a single smuggler component. This is good? Stop defending a messed up system.

Getting this loot gives me something to do and reasons to get groups organized to go do some of this upper level content.

I like how rare and valuable these components are. Good slices were VERY rare in the Star Wars cannon. I don't think every Jim-Bob should be able to get one, yet I also feel that the drop rate is enough to allow a non-rich person to get something nice sliced every now and again instead of every f*cking day.

Does anyone else feel like the top end slices arent really that good though.. especially since we cant get past weapon caps. I'd have been happier if they had come up with some innnovative slicing results rather than just making them permanent powerups. To me it seems the role thay have already assigned for slices is already filled by powerups

to me it seems a slice should make a weapon do something different than its design intended not just hit a bit harder or faster. I would rather be able to slice in skill mods or elemental damage or something.. anything that would make it a modification not just a booster

I love the component system, but this loot idea is fundamentally flawed... take for instance, that Black Sun helmet... I have accumulated over 3 million pilot prestige trying to get it, and still have not succeeded... Loot is a good idea, but not something to base a profession around.

However, its just a matter of time before the loot drops change and these components and their prices drop down considerably... (in my opinion that is!)

in my opinion Slicing is not something to base a profession around but thats just me

I swear if they make these components common as hell, it is going to water down my content in this game. I would MUCH rather go tackle hard enemies to get this stuff than to being able to kill Murmur thugs for an hour and get 20 of them, then have to go out and peddle my slicing services for 10k because that is all it is worth on the market.

Hard fights. Rare parts. Rare slices. Nice prices.

the problem isnt the high end stuff like illegal core boosters and shock absorbant padding, by all means they can keep those rare. the problem is the small toolkits and finely crafted tool sets. without these a slice is pretty much worthless, especially on weapons. the 2 tool components are all that really need to be common. this would still make great slices rare, but not kill slicing sompletely by making half decent ones imposible to get.
