Ummm... wow! This idea is extremely awesome to put it lightly.
This fills in a big part of the Star Wars universe that is missing from SWG, and in a great way. After these zones are tuned properly to make them very difficult this will be some great content.
Unfortunately, implementing this as the only way to get glitterstim will make those smugglers who don't buy JTL severely disadvantaged. One strong sentiment is to make smuggling accessible to ground smugglers. I only hope that these ground smugglers are willing to have all of smuggling but the space/Kessel part - which from the looks of it in your post would be the best part of being a smuggler for most people.
I personally have JTL, but for those who don't the ground game will have to be as equally good or compeling. Check out this thread I have made that uses popular and fun elements from another crime-based game to exponentially enhance the underworld of SWG - by actually making it a "world" players create and are immersed in to a degree as big as the GCW.This takes the underworld of Star Wars, which has always been a HUGE component to all Star Wars movies, and gives it its full due. Our crime worlds could use the open-ended approach of other games to give smuggler a replayability and immersion.

That's cool
I didn't mean to put a downer on your post, I promise. I just read it and thought, "Why would I even bother buying the Space Expansion then?" and replied.
Your thoughts carried a fair amount of weight though. I, certainly would be ticked off if they did add something like my Kessel Run idea but didn't do squat to the ground game. It just wouldn't be fair even for someone who didn't want to buy the expansion.
I feel that there are professions that should be expanded in space but not be any better skill-wise. Smuggler and Bounty Hunters. I suppose you could enhance Merchant into space if you implemented something like your GTA idea. Shifty commerce being done in the depths of space by a Master Merchant looking for black market goods
Oooo...that's cool lol!
And FYI...I work in sales! I'm a floor merchandiser for Sam's Club in electronics/hardlines. So I sale TVs, generators, computers, and furniture all day. That's changing soon though, I'm moving to 1-Hour Photo as a Photo Technician cause I've got "excellent" rated Member Service skills. So...maybe that's where it coems from.

That's funny, you are really quite good at selling. I was almost expecting that you have experience in it.

color=#ff0000>GreenMarine - "Highly Illegal. A player
caught with highly illegal goods will be attacked, the goods confiscated (if the
attacked player is defeated), and the player’s visibility will increase.
Highly illegal objects cannot be transported via the standard travel system by
anyone other than a smuggler. The player must use the new smuggler travel system
in order to move highly illegal goods. (This new system will be discussed
later.)"

Great ideas and I'd say there is a lot of hope for
something like this, as what GreenMarine said screams instanced smuggler runs to
me.

Thanks, guys! I just...wow, I personally would love this. I don't know how instanced Smuggling would work but...ya know
And with the announcement that Kessel is becoming a PvE zone, this stuff has an even better chance! Ah, who am I kidding, the Devs will never see this

This sounds like a lot of fun. I actually just started reading the Han Solo trilogy a week or so ago and read this passage last night
It would be quite fun to include in the game. As well as some lesser smuggling missions in space

You'll like it. The Hutt Gambit is really the meat and potatoes of it as far as I'm concerned. Rebel Dawn was probably my least favorite...too much GCW bullflop. But it was still good. Paradise Snare is a close second though ![]()
I'm thinking of some more to add to this so...just a shamless bump really. I'm bored and I was looking for input lol.

I'm considering the addition of a Requirement that the Master Smuggler also be aboard a MultiPlayer ship. The Smuggler wouldn't need to be a Master Pilot but simply grouped with one.
What do you all think about it? It's only logical that they may need the extra storage space of a cargo ship or larger vessel and the sluggish handling would also create a hightened difficultly.
Should this be required? Would the Smuggler need to be the pilot of the ship if it's not "their" ship or could they simply ride along? Thoughts? I'm indifferent at the moment.
