One your a smuggler you can actually buy faction points anyway

Who said we pvp for the faction? it's so little i hardly notice it anyhow.

Two is this really a pvp template to begin with so why care about ranking if you did you would be something horrible like tka or cm

Three pvp is so uncommon in the game now. That when you FD on another player odds are they will get ticked and mess you up for the FD.

I don't know where you are playing, on naritus there's several huge battles nearly every day. There's always a group of rebs and a group of imps running around overt.

Four remember you must insure the first time to get no decay from pvp. Once you insure you do not have to reinsure for pvp death. Odds are you fought a critter, and died then forgot to reinsure. If you do not reinsure yes items will decay, but you only need to insure once and you can die a hundred times with no decay.

No, the message is specificly "you died due to player vs. player conflict, ...... items have suffered decay."

Five roleplaying in the game is a joke at this point.

Again, I don't know where your playing. There's always plot lines, guild wars based on imperial/rebel themes, space battles, etc.

Six you want roleplay danger do what everyone else used to do be a hit and run artist. Raid a city solo, or ambush another player doing a npcmission. Your blood will be boiling playing hide and seek from vengeance minded players.

Ambush a player during an NPC mission? LOL, ok, I see now you see fun as taking advantage of other players. Albeit legal, in no way fun. Even if I am overt and run across an tef'd imperial, I'll /hail first.

Seven lying on the ground for an hour is a waste of time. Time better used doing something constructive.

My $15 bucks is the same as yours, and my time is what I make of it. You, nor anyone else, has the right to tell me if what I do is a waste of time!

Eight being overt is saying you are willing and looking for pvp. Playing dead on someone that accepts. Maybe even went overt to fight you is really a sick joke.

Not necessarly. I get scanned once, twice a day. As a smuggler I'm always carring spices, slicing gear, and my own sliced items. 2/3 of the time I get declared overt. This is nota TEF, I must go to a recruiter and go covert again. And even when I do go overt, if more imperials jump in, or I know I'm going to lose, I am a smuggler, I will use my smuggler given skill, feign death. To draw back, it's my money to lay there, you don't have to waste yours waiting for me to get up.

Nine with smuggler eating up so many of your points odds are you will be toast in pvp anyway.

It depends on the templete. Mine is generally a support role for group battles. Master smuggler, combat medic 4/0/0/4. I'll toss some poisons, shoot my pistol, and if I get in trouble /feign. It's my given ability. And 1 on 1, I dont' stand much of a chance anyway. If it comes to that, almost the same process. Toss a poison and /feign. If it worked like it was supposed to (not be attackable) I would appear dead. The player tries to recover from the mind poison, as he tries to find a doc, I pop up, hit him with my pistol, dead. Hell, it even works with the current system.

Ten if more smugglers stood up to a fight, and then FD most players would be more understanding. As it is now most smugglers follow the adage feighn now feighn then feighn always, and feighn some more because its funny.

Smugglers arn't supposed to fight directly anyway. We are not a combat class. If anything, a support class, that allows minor dabbling. IF I know I'm going to lose, which nearly everytime a smuggler will if it is 2 against him or more, I'm gonna feign on the first or second hit.

Oh, and it is pretty funny to watch people get horribly pissed at me, over a GAME. I pay my 15 bucks, I can lay there for however long I want too, I'm not making you stay waiting for me to get up.

Ok some people are blowing my mind. Your just a smuggler. Pvp has no real cost to you. You clone your items do not decay you come back with full ham. So why even bother going through the feighndeath route. Why be walking around overt unless you are ready for pvp. This is confuseing me. Why people even waste the time of going through all of this just pvp and die. Save yourself some time and trouble.

Well thats easy. For starters It prevents loss of faction pts, loss of PVP rating, doesn't give your enemy the satisfaction of being able to DB you and you dont get the nasty wounds/bf likewhen you clone. When I'm out pvping I'm ready. I use all the foods, armor, clothing and spice however there is no way I can even fight when I'm ganked by 5-10 people.

because it's called ROLEPLAY!

The only times we can actually feel like a smuggler, is often while overt. Then there's actually a danger factor.

I don't know why people keep saying though that items don't decay when you clone... I clone and insure, and everytime I die when i pvp i get the message "Since you died due to player vs. player conflict your items have suffered decay"

Hell yesterday I got scanned. I thought oh snap.. I was unbuffed at theed and it was a squad of those steroid storm troopers. Sure enough they said HALT, we've identified you as so and so.. I didn't even read it, i jus saw the system message that said I had become declared overt. On my way to a recruiter to get the flag off I got jumped, so I feigned. Luckily, my macro takes off my armor. But they sat there hitting me, putting dots on me, poisons, disease, you name it. I was eating dinner, so I was just watching the show. "we're gonna break your stuff noob, take the db."

heh... man.. So many people would be banned if this was griefing.

Yeah thats what I'm talking about. It happens every single time I FD. So I dont even bother with those guys anymore and just go LD. I would not have to do that if the devs fixed it. I'm not going to lay on back and just let some jerks ruin my best stuff.

Heh, if you FD you will get completely blackbarred in alot of cases. If you actually store your clone data and just take the death, you will get no wounds or BF from death. I could be overlooking BF or wounds for being incapped.

Though I'm not 100% sure... I think He was taking issue with your statement about going LD while FD. Most people (many of which are smugglers) find that to be distatefull 'cause it makes all smugglers look like we're trying to exploit the poor PvP design of Feign Death.

Also Feigning while LD makes you bugged when you log back on, something about FD not working right afterward.

Hope thats more enlightening.

Nah that bugs been fixed a while back. Bottom line is when I FD I have no ham left cause the crap has been beaten out of me. I'm not going to let them ruin my expensive stun armor and psg's. If they would fix that bug then I woud not have to. People will camp you for over an hour. Somepeople have nothing better to do.

Wow.. feigning while pvping = not very good idea

It is way more effective in PVE...

and if your going to feign and /quit everytime your dying in pvp... just dont pvp

This is why so many people are yelling nerf FD

I dont do it everytime. Only when 15 people camp me. I engage in PVP everyday. On my server dark jedi run aorund in gank squads. There is nothing a pistoleer can do against them. My only option is to FD when I run across them. If sony doesn't want me to go LD then they shoud fix it so people can camp for ....EVER. Yeah thats right then can camp you forever if your overt and they are overt. HAha people have camped other for 2 hours. If thats no griefing I dont know what is lol. Thats the reason why I only go overt for an hour at a time.

1. Stop being soft on coverts doing faction missions. They took the risk now so they can pay the price. Never understood this its so lame argument. When you do what I suggest indeed you are picking a fight. One hand you say roleplaying is only a joke then on the other hand you think picking offpcs that are praying on npcs of your faction is wrong. If you are serious about the roleplay you would see it as a duty to off the enemy on sight. If I am running around killing npcs, or running around overt. I expect to get into some heavy fire at some point. I have never understood this asinine logic. You can only kill another player when they are prepared buffed armored and fed. What are we reduced to playdate pvp. There is a reason you can pvp anywhere anytime. It adds I do not know to the roleplay element. You just prove my point that roleplay in the game is a joke. Lastly the danger is the roleplay being in a faction should not be soft core it should be hardcore. You should be in danger. You should have to go about doing things strategically.

2. How in the hell are you going about being scanned twice a day unless you are looking for it. If every town were crowded with stormies maybe, but I know for a fact they are not. There are a couple cities on every planet that have none or next to none, and its easy enough to avoid random patrols if you look where your going. I am getting scanned maybe once every week. I make it a point to avoid places where I can get scanned.

3. TKM is pretty nasty seeing as its way overpowered. If you were big on pvp and ranking you should go with TKM. The point of the cu is that alot of professions are woefully gimped and others overpowered.

4. I have no idea why you are getting decay from pvp. If your insured it shouldnt happen unless something was changed in game recently. Check with your pals see if they are getting the same thing. If they are not odds are your account is bugged, and you will need a csr to fix it. Occassionally you still run across a person that gets the no tripple incap bug. Is someone useing dots on you to obtain tripple incaps and killing you that way. This used to be in the game at one point all deaths gave decay, but the devs removed that for pvp months ago, because people were being scared off of pvp.

5. Peddle the fifteen bucks story somewhere else. Everyone pays fifteen bucks so the guy tortureing you can say the same thing. He spent fifteen bucks so he can spend an hour eating up your armor. If you have a problem with it you can just stand back up, and deal with the defeat.

6. Everyone and his brother is useing FD as a I win button. Yes it is a form of greifing another player, and the CSRs know this. Thats why they more often then not are looking the other way. You are denying the other player any semblance of a victory. If the first hot button you hit is play dead. If you stand up and face them and are still going to lose and playdead. You might find more players forgiveing. Since atleast they know they beat you. You know what it actually works if you give another player a semblance of a fair shake when it comes to pvp. They are less hot about a few points they will not get.

7, Why are you wasteing time with this. For anything less then being a jerk to another player. It is not like you are loseing an arm and a leg by dieing anyway. So what if its a fifteen man gank squad. Reward them for the effort of putting together a 15 man gank squad. If you cannot stand the thought of loseing leave your faction.

I expect to get into some heavy fire at some point. I have never understood this asinine logic. You can only kill another player when they are prepared buffed armored and fed.-Because the game is so imbalanced at the moment, that it is unfair to do this. Essentially, the game is currently in the place where its not who the better player is, but who's ground out the most Uber template, has the best buffs, the best weapons, and the best armor. You should have to go about doing things strategically.-Once things are balanced, then I have no problem wiht it, as long as its not the equivilent of a fully buffed master of an elite profession is ganking an unbuffed raw factional recruit novice in a starting profession.
2. How in the hell are you going about being scanned twice a day unless you are looking for it.I dunno about where you live, but my town of Babelon has currently been invaded by no less than twelve Imperial crackdown units in less than a week.
If you were big on pvp and ranking you should go with TKM.(Except that Teras Kasi is limited to a single damage type, Kinetic. And look at most armor out in the game, ~80% kinetic resistance. The PvP classes are primarily Rifleman, Swordsman, Combat Medic, and Jedi, not in that order.) The point of the cu is that alot of professions are woefully gimped and others overpowered.
4. I have no idea why you are getting decay from pvp. If your insured it shouldnt happen unless something was changed in game recently. Check with your pals see if they are getting the same thing. If you have a problem with it you can just stand back up, and deal with the defeat.-I don't have a problem at all with a guy(s) pounding his fists on my character's body because he can't get over the fact that I was unprepared for a fight.
6. Everyone and his brother is useing FD as a I win button.-No! Really?! Yes it is a form of greifing another player, and the CSRs know this.-Not when you're not prepared. Thats why they more often then not are looking the other way.-Actually, its because many of them have thier heads up thier asses, I've met one, maybe two decent CSRs. And only cause one of them was the head of the Lowca server. A few days ago, when Babelon's City Hall disappeared, one CSR tried to blame it on my guild leader's *router*. There were at least five of us who verified the city hall gone before we sent in a ticket. You are denying the other player any semblance of a victory. If the first hot button you hit is play dead. If you stand up and face them and are still going to lose and playdead. You might find more players forgiveing. Since atleast they know they beat you.-Actually, in more cases that you seem willing to admit, its the players who like to send tells to you after they killed you going. "d00d io pwnd u u suxx0rz i r0xx0rz!!!!!" You know what it actually works if you give another player a semblance of a fair shake when it comes to pvp. They are less hot about a few points they will not get.

So what if its a fifteen man gank squad. Reward them for the effort of putting together a 15 man gank squad.-I reward the fore-mentioned gank squad by playing oppossum and then chatting with my guild. Maybe telling the more vocal member what I plan on doing with my new-found free time. If you cannot stand the thought of loseing leave your faction.-I don't care so much about losing, its that I care about discouraging asses.

Note: I'm not supporting TweekTweek's use of Feign Death, as he seems to be the type that just wants to avoid death. I do not use it in any 1 on 1 consentual PvP. I do use it in non-consentual 1 on 1(being jumped while TEFed/forced Overt) non-consentual many versus 1(same scenario, but lots of jerks), and consentual many versus many(as a diversionary tactic).

I'm jus tired of arguing with him, thanks for taking my place. Why is he in here, anyway?

And FD is not an "i win" button. It just keeps you from winning, and that's why your so pissed about it. It's a lose-lose skill, unless it's a trap. In that case, I win!

And ranking is the stupidest thing the developers could have ever come up with to make PvP "cooler" or whatever. All they did was encourage the power-players and griefers to get into a bigger d*ck-swinging contest than before.

Three pvp is so uncommon in the game now. That when you FD on another player odds are they will get ticked and mess you up for the FD. Five roleplaying in the game is a joke at this point. Yeah, well blame that on the devs for allowing Jedi to roam around en masse during a period in which there aren't supposed to BE any.

Six you want roleplay danger do what everyone else used to do be a hit and run artist. Raid a city solo, or ambush another player doing a npcmission. Your blood will be boiling playing hide and seek from vengeance minded players. Raid a city solo...because we SO have the most uber template for combat in game. /rolleyes

Seven lying on the ground for an hour is a waste of time. Time better used doing something constructive. Yep, I watched an entire episode of Desperate Housewives last night while I was FD. VERY contsructive!

Eight being overt is saying you are willing and looking for pvp. Playing dead on someone that accepts. Maybe even went overt to fight you is really a sick joke. You don't accept PvP, you accept a duel. PvP just happens after you go overt. Honestly, I think most smugglers go overt for two reasons: 1. Base raid, or 2. Boredom. Playing dead on someone that is beating the crap out of you is a nice little reminder that no matter how black our bar is, they still can't kill us. It's a nice sense of satisfaction that if I can barely kill a gnort (much less another player,) I can play dead and keep them from gaining the ultimate satisfaction of killing me.

As it is now most smugglers follow the adage feighn now feighn then feighn always, and feighn some more because its funny. I think smugglers really only feignif they're in trouble. We like a fight, just like anyone else. But we are also granted the ability to not die, at the cost of getting black-barred. Give and take, that's what it is.
