Thread: Smuggler Bug- Armor decay while FD?

As per the smuggler fact thread
"What does Feign Death do?
Once you give the feign death command it goes into your command que. The next time you are hit after Feign is qued up will incap you for a few seconds. You will stay down until you choose to get up buy giving a stand command. MOBs will not attack you while you are in this incap state and will eventually wander back to their lair. They will however re-aggro you when you stand, so be ready. Players in PvP can still shoot you, each shot will continue to cause wounds (black bar) to you, but they can never DeathBlow you unless you stand up and let them. Your equipment does not decay if you Feign Death."

I thought for sure armor would not decay while I was FD in PVP. However recently I had a 36% stun helmet which had 15k ham before I went FD drop to 7k while FD.
I had about 7 players targeting my mind and beating on my body while FD. My psg was also destroyed while FD. I had riflemen hitting me with head shot3. Perhaps there is a new bug now that allows rifleman to damage stun armor while FD. I had never had this problem before nor noticed extreme armor decay while FD. Both my PSG and stun helmet were sliced.
Hmm I guess I'll just have to go LD right away after FD next time. How many of you use the /quit command when you have a gank squad camping you?

So if armor decays while FD in PVP why does it say in the smuggler facts that it doesn't?
I guess the easy solution is to go LD right away using /quit when LD. That way you cant be black barred, pulled from FD by a jedi, or suffer from armor decay. Then log in later after people leave.

Ok some people are blowing my mind. Your just a smuggler. Pvp has no real cost to you. You clone your items do not decay you come back with full ham. So why even bother going through the feighndeath route. Why be walking around overt unless you are ready for pvp. This is confuseing me. Why people even waste the time of going through all of this just pvp and die. Save yourself some time and trouble.

because it's called ROLEPLAY!
The only times we can actually feel like a smuggler, is often while overt. Then there's actually a danger factor.
I don't know why people keep saying though that items don't decay when you clone... I clone and insure, and everytime I die when i pvp i get the message "Since you died due to player vs. player conflict your items have suffered decay"
Hell yesterday I got scanned. I thought oh snap.. I was unbuffed at theed and it was a squad of those steroid storm troopers. Sure enough they said HALT, we've identified you as so and so.. I didn't even read it, i jus saw the system message that said I had become declared overt. On my way to a recruiter to get the flag off I got jumped, so I feigned. Luckily, my macro takes off my armor. But they sat there hitting me, putting dots on me, poisons, disease, you name it. I was eating dinner, so I was just watching the show. "we're gonna break your stuff noob, take the db."
heh... man.. So many people would be banned if this was griefing.

It's not a part of feign death that your armor was depleted. Armor condition goes down because they were beating the bejesus out of you *while* you were feigned.

Ok I missread you guide and assumed my armor never decay'd while pvping lol. This whole time I have been pvping I never even noticedany decay at all untill this last week and I was like wow my armor is taking a real beating. From now on I'm going to go LD every time I FD haha.

This is a form of griefing, actually, due to how Feign Death has been nerfed over time.
Originally, Feign Death broke combat and made you unattackable(DOTs that were placed on youeven stopped while you were down, and resumed when you got back up), but through all the nerfs, apparently the devs never thought about this.
The best way to avoid this decay is a macro to switch from your armor to clothing about a second before feigning. You'll need to make sureyou have everything taken care of, hat, jacket, pants, boots/shoes, gloves; even if they're not what you normally wear. You'll still get woundage and battle fatigue while on the ground, but its better than letting jerkwads trash your gear.
However, Feign Death shouldn't be used in 1-on-1 combat unless you're an unwilling participant(been TEFed/made Overt and someone jumps you while unbuffed). In many vs many, its a viable tactic to save your ass, because once you go down, its very possible that the oppositionmay overlook you for a short time.
Personally, I've a macro for such occasions called "Group Feign". All it does is run the feign death command, and send a group message stating that I'm feigning, so my group doesn't bust thier butts to try to rez me, or such. Or, if they can get to me, it lets them know my HAM was low enough that I had to take a dive so I could stick around for the fight, and if a healer is free, they can hit me up and I'll be good.

Yeah there are way to many griefers out thereand the CSR's dont care oh well. Hmm i guess the best way to PVP as a smuggler now is to G-tef. That way if you get in over your head you can FD LD for 5 mins to wait for the TEF to disapear and for your ham to regen. Log inStand up and run over to help your buddies finish those guys off.

just do as Maxil does: edit yer macro so that it takes off ur armour as well(will take more time since armour-switching has been "fixed") and then feign... or even better: make it so that ur only wearing hotpants, then start flaming those"uber's" that they can't even kill an unbuffed overtreb/imp...Best fun ever, i'll tell ya! especially if it's one of those uber-gank-squads, with the entire entourage(X jedi, CM, rifleman, few docs, few tanks)

One your a smuggler you can actually buy faction points anyway.
Two is this really a pvp template to begin with so why care about ranking if you did you would be something horrible like tka or cm
Three pvp is so uncommon in the game now. That when you FD on another player odds are they will get ticked and mess you up for the FD.
Four remember you must insure the first time to get no decay from pvp. Once you insure you do not have to reinsure for pvp death. Odds are you fought a critter, and died then forgot to reinsure. If you do not reinsure yes items will decay, but you only need to insure once and you can die a hundred times with no decay.
Five roleplaying in the game is a joke at this point.
Six you want roleplay danger do what everyone else used to do be a hit and run artist. Raid a city solo, or ambush another player doing a npcmission. Your blood will be boiling playing hide and seek from vengeance minded players.
Seven lying on the ground for an hour is a waste of time. Time better used doing something constructive.
Eight being overt is saying you are willing and looking for pvp. Playing dead on someone that accepts. Maybe even went overt to fight you is really a sick joke.
Nine with smuggler eating up so many of your points odds are you will be toast in pvp anyway.
Ten if more smugglers stood up to a fight, and then FD most players would be more understanding. As it is now most smugglers follow the adage feighn now feighn then feighn always, and feighn some more because its funny.

Yep. Going LD while FD is idiotic and retarded. My main beef with this post is that you're basically siding with the jedi and BH on this issue that no damage should be dealt to you while you're playing dead and that you should be able to totally escape penalty from the situation.
I as a smuggler understand that while I go FD I know that I can get blackbarred and I know that my armor will be trash unless I take it off. On the other hand, if I do die, SO WHAT! I'm not a jedi, I don't lost xp. If I die, wow I lost 30-something faction and some pvpstandingand cry that I have to get buffed again.
