Well... Did up a brand new crate of 5 plk's and found the same results. Works properly for the first knife - after that its back to a crate of duds.

Hehe, I'm having to reinstall my client as well... long story...

So the first knife worked correctly, the others gave the finger? Odd...

Maybe a new crate is required for all knives to work that way?

/emote looks for ray of hope.

Actually this is how it as ALWAYS worked for me. the first knfe in a crate wouldpoof after5 slices and every other one would poof after 1.

It's been that way for me for months...I thought everyone had the same .

I'll go ahead and add my 2 credits to this

I had the same experience as everyone else. The first knife works fine, but once it reaches one charge, it's back to what we've been used to.

Incidentally, this doesn't affect crated clamps, AUKS or WUKS.

So, it looks like whatever they did, it didn't change a thing.

Fellow Smugglers,

With the publish 9 patch notes, there was a rather disturbing change.

Profession: Smuggler

  • You will no longer be able to slice an item by using a tool in a crate. You will have to remove it from the crate first.

  • However, it apparently means that the problems we had with laser knife charges has been fixed, according to testing done by Baehoo.

You can find his results here.

    http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=smuggler&message.id=100245

I will continue to pester the devs to clarify these patch notes, but I feel this is convincing that the change is not to ALL crates, but to the laser knife crates specifically.

So instead of cries of outrage, perhaps we should try rejoicing It's a fix that's been needed for a LONG time!

wewt wewt. no more cluttering inventory with knives, can just have crates once again! yay!

If you would read through the entire thread, you would see that there is no fix at all. Crates of PLK's are still hosed and only the first PLK from the crate works correctly.

If the patch notes were supposed to convey the message that the PLK crate problem has been fixed, then they need to work on how they word things. When I read the patch notes it in no way says that you can now autopull your PLK's from crates and have them work correctly.

If this is the case I'll be very happy. But in the meantime I'll still be very skeptical until I see an official response from a dev on the issue.

If that's the way it is, that's excellent! However, they really need to work on their in-text communication skills. I know I'm not the best at that and sometimes I may be misunderstood, but I don't think a single word in that description matched the actual fix, except maybe "slice" and "crate".

Oh man, I was so scared when I read that...it's bad enough they keep pushing back the revamp, but to make slicing harder...I'm glad this is really a fix of the knife problem.

I do have a question and I'm not sure this has been asked and answered, but since the revamp is going to be pushed back until after JTL (which puts it at like next December or January right?), can't they do something to show us some love? I realize the devs are trying to do right, but it's so hard to watch everyone get new things. I've been playing since day two and have only wanted to be a smuggler and I'm still waiting. I'm all in favor of doing it right, but it seems to me there are aspects of change that could be split off, like slicing. I know there has been discussion of making slicing like experimentation in crafting, which leads me to believe there would be a lot of code that could be recycled, and there doesn't seem to be as much disagreement as to what we would all like (i.e. pick a slice). Is there any way they could just fix slicing?

I mean c'mon give us a bone to gnaw on, we love you and are all dedicated to this profession. The fact of the matter is the only reason we are smugglers is we want to be, it certainly isn't the joy of slicing for people who just can't seem to understand the meaning of it's random and I don't have any control over it.

Don't get me wrong, I think the proposals being kicked around for the revamp are not only tremendously cool, they are also potentially new territory in gaming, butit would be nice it the devs would give us poor mutts something...c'mon you know how degrading it is that hair dressers and cosmetologists get more love than us?

On the funny side, I mastered sword and was lurking on their profession board, you should read what they are complaining about...better animations. Man I wish my only complaint was I wish I had better animations...

Well sorry for rambling on, I would like to close by saying while I am not an uber poster, I do lurk considerably and think you are doing a fantastic job Caylin and I do believe the devs have great love for us and are trying to pull of something wonderful.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

    Well I'll be damned...

It looks like they actually did something RIGHT for a change...

Except for the fact that they screwed up the patch notes.

Somebody wanna let TH know he needs to edit the patch notes to read:

    Smuggler:

    • Changed crates of PLKs so that only one charge is autopulled per cut, instead of using all 10 charges when a PLK is autopulled from a crate.

...or something similarly less misleading than the crappy patch note that was the reason for all of our griping this morning?
