Thread: /cry...cry some more....Revamp Delay
Is there such a lack of moral fortitude that SOE is unwilling to stick to commitments they lay ... or is it poor management that is unable to accurately plan and allocate resources?
Geevo my friend I am afraid you have hit it on the head. As much as it pains me to say so I believe what we are dealing with isn't so much insincerity as it is incompetence. I could go on for an hour on this subject but won't. I have mastered a dozen skills and the story is the same in almost all of them. Broken skills. Broken concept. Broken promises. We could lay all of this at the feet of the "Jedi" revamp, or JTL, or whatever but in my mind the problem lays at the feet of management of SOE and their poorly conceived and disasterous execution of what should have been the greatest MMORG ever. It is very disappointing.
As for the Smuggler revamp, they've continuously said that Smugglers were a space profession, so I believe that's why the constant delays. It would have been much better for everyone, Smuggler players and Devs alike, if they would be more forthcoming with information on what JTL will do for Smugglers. If they would just cough up some good information, I believe the amount of complaining, Dev-bashing, Smuggler profession-dropping, and (most unfortunately) account cancelling would be lessened. Probably not completely stopped, because of the delay in the releases, but definitely lessened.
As a Smuggler, I definitely want to see our profession done right, but in general, I'm a patient person and if I have to wait for JTL and the Smuggler revamp, I will. I may not like the wait, but I suppose there's plenty to do until then. I'll do the Jedi quests to get my second character slot when that starts, do some business trying to make some creds, and if I feel like a change, I do have that other character I started on another server that I barely played that I can jump into for a new experience (he's based on another PnP RPG character and will be a Rifleman/Pikeman/TKA kind of thing).
In short (too late

Oops. I got to read it before, but it's definitely "down for maintenance" now. Methinks that was an inadvertent premature public release. (Eww!)
Knew I should have copied that letter last night and pasted it in here. Probably just accidently released early given Caylin's earlier response. In any case from memory it was a new schedule that looked something like [warning... this may be a bit off]:

9: Jedi revamp part 1, Hermit Quest, ID modifications
9.1: Wookiee armor version 2
10: Jedit revamp part 2: trails stuff
10.1 ???
10.2 Wookiee Armor version 3
11 Combat Rebalance/GCW revamp
JTL
Post JTL: smuggler revamp 'because we want to do it right and doing it right means space' -- or some comment that doesn't wash at this point
Forget where before JTL it was, but there was also "corresspondent issues" and "squad leader revamp" and "commodities market changes" in somewhere before JTL as well

TH has a lot of explaining to do. This is obviously not something that was done at the last minute. This decision was made for a while - nodoubtwhy he hasn'tbeen posting in here and working with us on the revamp. That jerk knew it wasn't going to happen in patch 11 and just never bothered to tell us. Not that that coward would actually come in here and stand up like a man to address us personally. They thought we were so patient and understanding with the last delay notice - well, they certainly burned up all of that currency fast. I doubt that people will be so damn understanding now. TH, hope you got some aesbestos long johns, "buddy" - you are in for a rough trip through this forum.
So many broken promises and delays...oh, and these new twists and turns need to get added to the growing list of inequities done to the smuggler profession. Not that there will be anyone around to give a damn after a while.
