I guess I can understand someone who has never seen any of the Star Wars movies. Some of it might depend on the person's age, as the first movie came it in '77 and I'm sure a fair amount of people here weren't even born yet. Which makes me feel really friggin' old since I saw that movie in the theater with my dad.

not flaming your or anything... but i find it kinda weird for someone to play SWG and has not seen a single movie... but good for you my friend, I'm glad that your going to watch the movies (especially now on DVD, the old trilogy) and see all the cool little things that are in the movies and in the game... Like me, I sued to watch the movies the whole time when they where re-released, and a bit after I started playing SWG, i was watching tv and saw A New hope, and when i noticed the Krayt dragon Skeleton, at the beginig of the movie i screamed, tis game is so cool..... now I like it.... but i hate the crappy grind :S

George Lucas says that if you've never seen the movies, watch Ep. 1-6 in numerical order (after #3 is released ofcourse). IMHO he doesn't know what he's talking about. If newbies watch eps 1-6 in numerical order, how will they react when Vader tells Luke "I am your Father" in ESB? They'd be like, "meh" It was a shock for a lot of people, but won't be for those who've already seen Eps 1-3. How would they react after learning a little green guy is actually a powerful Jedi Master? Watching the way GL wants newbies to watch the series would take away so much from the original triology, esp. ESB.

Hmm if you haven't seen any of them yet, I wait til episode III comes out next year..then watch Ep I and II then go to the Theatre for III...then watch IV V and VI.

I'll probably do just that once ep III comes out, even though I saw all the SW movies in the theatres cept for 3.

I just kinda ran into this thread... the first time I watched the SW movies was *after* I started playing the game. after my ex-roomie gave me the weirdest stare when I asked "um, who's Jabba?" /duck

I'm horrible with movie names too... once the same roomie was yelling at me for not watching the last Lord of the Rings movie, and asked me if I even know what the title was. my answer?

"uh, I want to say 'return of the jedi', but I know that's not it..."

I was amazed she didn't beat me up

Well, I just watched them all again... and amusingly enough, the only movie that does not have special effects that are noticably bad or cartoon-like of all 5 movies is.....
A New Hope.

Get it right the first time..... and I guess that is all that counts.

lol..That was quick. Thanks guys.

So the first one to be released, apparently, is episode 4? Thats the one that came out in the 1970's, if im not mistaken?

That's pretty creative, releasing prequels after sequels.

(Just to recap, i go with episode 4, then 5, then 6, then 1, then 2, then rinse and repeat 37 times to be on par with a regular SW fan, right?).

37 times? Only 37 times? Oh, you said regular SW fan.

Yeah, be sure to watch them in that order. Absolutely best if the first time is NOT the "Special Edition" versions of 4, 5, and 6, but the originals. You can watch the "Special Edition" for all the extras and changes (Solo did shoot first, grumble, grumble) after about your 10th viewing.

god i hate to admit this.

saw a new hope in the theaters back in 77. my aunt (god bless her) was babysitting me and my sister for a week while my parents were out of town and dropped us off at the theater. (greatest babysitter ever!). i managed to convince her to do it every day until the folks got home. i still have my early bird box from that christmas.

went to the theater 5 times during the 78 re-release.

empire comes out. bugged the crap out of my mom to take me to work with her on saturdays and just drop me off at the theater duringit's run. same with jedi.

my parentsbought me every toy up until jedi.i still have them.

then vcrs came out and my parents bought me the triology. i was sick alot as a kid and i watched those movies everyday while i was outof school. mom figures i'm well into the thousandmark. my first job and first paycheck went to buying the letterboxed edition of the trilogy on vhs for $100 bucks.

then the special editions come out. opening day i was therefor every single showing.now that was a fun time because for each show a new group of my friends showed up. even got a date with the girl that tore tickets.

episodes 1 and 2 i got to see a sneak preview of due to a buddy running a theater. midnight showings rule!!!

now i at 31 my love for star wars has not diminished. i made my gf who has never watched the films sit down and watch them and she loved it which makes my swg addicition more understandable to her.

Gomi, sounds like me except after seeing A New Hope for the first time, I had my mom drop me off at the theater in the morning and pick me up in the afternoon after 2 showings. I did this quite a number of times, I just couldn't get enough of it. I really couldn't tell you how many times I've seen the thing, I can recite the dialog right along with the movie.

Got all the toys as well, the VHS releases (original and "special"), DVDs of Ep1 and 2, the new DVDs set, numerous collecibles, etc.
