Ok another point,

I thought they were trying to get rid of legendary weapons because they created an imbalance in the game......aren't you doing that again only 100 times worse by giving large guilds with tons of high end players even more of an advantage?

And you think the GCW is non existant now.....just wait

I'm hoping someone realized this, and it's already taken care of. Has anybody been able to try slicing a damage capped weapon on TC yet?

All reports I've seen have said that no one has been able to apply a 10% slice due to caps, let alone higher...

ONE MORE THING FOR GM!!!! VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

I still believe Smugglers should have a special linked slice for our personal weapons that would be different or somehow bypass this system. Having an uber player bring us a slicing component to slice for them is one thing, but if say, a Dancer/Smuggler wants a good slice for their personal weapon, they're SOL because, let's face it, a Dancer/Smuggler is gimped for combat and gimped for cash...

Thanks GM for dropping in and letting us know what is up. Sometimes that means more than you would realize.

Personally, I would like to see how this works out first. GM makes a valid point in that we aren't the one's that have to go after these high end items if we don't want to. Much like Krayt tissues. I am interested to see the numbers on the lower level slices compared to elite slices.

Keep up the GOOD WORK!

On second thought, couldn't Plan B =

Slicing system remains as it is on TC right now, where you can slice any level with no tools, components etc up to the highest level once you are master smuggler and get the same results people are currently getting (10% to speed, 8% to damage). BUT, the components can be added to level 3 and 4 slicing stages if you want and increase the slice substantially depending on the components. Seems like the best of both worlds to me; we can slice all levels for a decent gain, and aren't required to get loot, but if someone comes up to us and says 'hey I have xxx loot can you slice my weapon with it for all dmg increase' we have that option available.

QFE!!

as far as loot drops for slicing...i'm pretty divided on it. on one hand, adding loot drops just makes us smugglers have to deal witht he same interdependency a lot of other professions have, and that's a good thing. and good or bad, it is at least more interesting then clicking 'ok'10 times.

on the other hand, we're now susceptable to the loot farmers and those of us who do nothing but solo are alittle more SOL then before.

for now, it sounds way more intriguing then the current system, so i'll be happy to give it a chance before i really judge it.

I had an idea..... how about you give the smuggler the ability to break apart electronic items for their craft. That's where we get the components for the slicing from.

Weaponsmiths / Armorsmiths / Artisans make crates of weapons / armor / powerups. Have you ever seen a reason to keep a 'broken data pad' around? No most people delete them.

Let the smugglers break apart these items, and get components from them. "Junk", old weapons, CDEF pistols, crappy armor, crates of Artisan Knives.

This will keep the demand in for Armorsmith / Weaponsmith / Artisans and the regular joe's who find looted "junk" items.

Just and idea... what do you other smugglers think?

Kinda like Shipwrights and RE'ing their space loot to find Firespray schematic disks!

Plus, this does kinda fit a smuggler/tinkering type of image.

I like it!

Now that is an AWESOME idea !

Definately a cool idea.

WoW... so after 2 years of waiting for changes they only manage to nerf... thats awesome. I have to have my M defender jedi run into the DWB or the avatar to get a chance at looting a component for 1 slice with my smuggler on a weapon for my carbineer. you have got to be freakin kidding me.

I whole-heartedly agree with Geevo. Your perfect example is Jedi and their pearls and crystals.

The harder you make it to get the loot, whatever it may be, the more expensive it is. And before you know it, you've got people who aren't even involved in the item's use looting and selling it for millions upon millions of credits while the intended user can neither afford it originally, makes only a minor profit, or the outcome of the high-end loot item is not worth it.

I'm all for the item system. But I think the only way to go about this is to get the items from the smuggling missions from NPCs. Maybe you have a 1 in 30 or something chance of shipping these items which you can skim from. But because they're so high-end, your reputation falls through the fall when you do steal/skim one.

There's no reason a template stacked lootmonger should be in possession of these items they aren't going to use. And as much as I'm against Jedi, I don't think people should be selling them crystals and pearls for millions and millions of credits either. That just brings Jedi to the forfront when they're supposed to be in hiding.

Such as with slicing loots, it's supposed to be illegal and dangerous and hard to obtain. Bringing it to the forefront of the auction block is just bringing it out of context and further pulling this game away from "Star Warsiness".

1) GreenMarine! You're back, I was about to call the cops to come out looking for you.

2) NO MORE CRATES! Please please, I loved the idea of the "slicing tool" mentioned in the concept document. Please no more crates of clamps, knives, WUKs, and AUKs. For the simple slices please consider a slicing tool with charges instead of a menagerie of single-use components with no real point.

3) There must be more choices in the slicing system if your uberloot requirements go in. Even without the rare slices there should be an interesting amount of options available to our customers.

4) I think rare loot will be just fine for Smugglers. Weaponsmiths are not forced to pay for Krayt tissues, often the customer brings them in. Same will be for us.

5) Ok, breakage is gone but what about "out of tune"? I thought that idea was much better than breakage, so what happened to it? Too hard to code?

Thanks for visiting our happy place again.

Well, here's my two cents, because a lot of you seem to be upset that high-end slicing components will be in high-level dungeons.

Um, isn't that a GOOD thing? To promote the fact that high end slices are just that, HIGH END.

If I have to risk my hide to get a highly illegal item to slice a weapon with, the price will be astronomical. But I'll do it.

If you're not at a high enough CL to go into the DWB or the Corvette, (which I heard will be recieving balance passes fairly soon,) do what AS and WS do: buy your loot. Who here is arrogant enough to say that high end drops should be fairly easy to get?

I LIKE the idea of high end loot drops for slicing. If I have to get a group together of 8 people and it takes me 2 hours of getting my arse kicked in the DWB, you bet your sweet butt that slice is going to cost you dearly.

GM, great ideas; however, I will ask that there be a balance pass to the DWB, Avatar Platform, and the Corvette...because it's impossible at this time. It can still be really, really hard...but as of right now, it's a death wish.

Other than that, this is a great idea. Thank you Brandon, and it's nice to see you here on the Smuggler forums.

One more thought, and I'll keep it brief:

Have these components drop in stacks instead of singles.

Makes them just slightly less rare, and makes them decent currency for working out the cost of the slice.

"Hey, I looted 6 of these trigger thingys, will you slice one of them into my rifle!"

"Sure, but only if I get to keep 2 of them..."

Booya.
