Thread: NickHeel's Personal Guide to Handling Developers

Nick, I appreciate your post, and think its well thought out. This approach would probably work for most smugglers who haven't been here from the beginning. Unfortunately, those that are left have 18 months of issues to work through, and like Dreven said, the best that can be hoped for from them is that they just ignore things.

Not that I believe that being rude or insulting will get anything more done; the fact is nothing that we do gets us anywhere. We've been nice, we've been mean, we've been indifferent. We've run the gamut and it all works the same.

All we can do is enjoy the game; if that's not happening, then you gotta ask yourself why you still play, and what you can do to either start enjoying it again or move on.

LOL! I don't know aboutit yet, honestly.I'm getting into the meatier parts of school and I see Wes as doing a great job currently. And it'd think it'd be a while before we see the position open up since the CU is starting up. I sure hope you are right.

Besides, you (Geevo), Dreven, JTG, fishbrains, and probably more are just more qualified. CLICKY I don't think the community would be too accepting of me over any of the those guys. And for good reason

I'm just trying to do what I can to help out the community and the profession. Is what makes you qualified.

I appreciate that you're trying to help...really.

But, the ONLY thing that's going to help this profession is for Sony to get off their butts and give us SMUGGLING. There really is nothing else at this point IMO.

What he said

Anyway, there's a 6 month term limit for all corres these days. I believe mine runs out in early May.

Said this in the other thread, but I'll say it here as well:

Keep in mind, that the Devs that come here aren't the be-all-end-all bosses of everything at SWG that get to make the decisions. They're doing their job, and if they don't answer questions, or don't have information, it's not because they're horrible people, it's most likely because they have NDAs, too much work to do with too little time, and only so much budget and manpower to make changes, because they work for someone else higher up that makes the decisions.
Don't shoot your messenger. We need to work WITH the developers to get what we want, not fight against them.

:/ i have a good...idea too... to deal with the devs, you must beat them up, feed them spice, and handcuff them to your desk and get the information you need before giving them more spice and sending them back into the wild

But of course.

In fact I edited to make it less "harsh" or something, because really I was teasing you, not berating you lol Then I saw the stars so edited again to remove the comment whatsoever.

I am not paranoid about my rating.

Kamileon; "We need to work WITH the developers to get what we want, not fight against them."

Uh huh...I DO understand your point however I don't think you quite understand that for nearly two years we've TRIED to work WITH them and what we have today is exactly what it's gotten us.

They have come here more than once and asked us for our input to which we responded with detailed suggestions only to have them apparently toss it out and come back later asking for it all over again.

So I think MY point is that, while in theory it's a great idea, in practice for the Smuggler profession cooperativity has not worked IN THE LEAST.

Perhaps if SOME track record with Sony and Smugglers had indicated differently there wouldn't be so many of us TOTALLY disenfranchized.
