Thread: Should I feel guilty for giving a bad slice?

This brings up a chuckle I had last night. I'm sitting in Spamonet with my Master tag up, I was testing to see how people would react to my new pricing structions 300cr per % when I'm in Coronet 500cr per % at all other times.
So I get a tell:
RandomGuy#1: Heycan you slice weapons?(Why do they always ask this)
Me: Sure my pricing structure is 300cr per % per item.
RG#1: How good are you? (Once again why?)
Me: I'm as good as any other Master Smuggler, I use Molecular Clamps so I guarantee 100% success rates.
RG#1: So can you guarantee me a GOOD slice.
Me: Sorry hoss, I can't guarantee anything other than I'll be successful on my slicing attempt. Everything after that is 100% random. Anyone who tells you differently is either lieing or scamming.
RG#1: Well I used to be a Master Smuggler and I knew how to guarantee my slices. Your sucha NEWB LOLOLOL

Reminds me of a similar situation I ran into.
Client: Can you slice my weapon for speed?
Me: I can slice yes but I can't garanty a speed slice. It's totaly random
Client: oh ok
Me: My price is 100 credits per %
Client: For a speed slice?
Me: I told you I can't garanty a speed slice, no smugglers can.
Client: oh ok
Me: So you still want a slice?
Client: Yes, speed slice please
Me: I just told you it's 100% random there's nothing I can do about that
Client: Oh ok, here's my weapon
*opens trade and gives me the weapon*
Me: ok I got it. Starting your slice
Client: Coll, speed please.
Me: what part of it's random and I can't choose didn't you get?
Client: Oh ok sorry
*I slice the weapon and get a 31% damage slice*
Me: 31% damages, that will be 3100 credits please
Client You **edit**er I said I wanted a speed slice you dumb **edit** **edit** **edit** **edit**
Me: and I kept telling you that I CAN'T CONTROL THE SLICE IT'S RANDOM!!!
Client: Well I'm not paying you **edit**. Give me my weapon back you **edit**.
Me: Sorry but you don't pay I keep it.
Client: DON'T GET XYON TO SLICE YOUR STUFF!!! HE'S A LIER' A SCAMER AND A THIEF!!!!

Just a sidenote, I noticed alot of Kauri smugglers still charging the old rate of 100cr per %. Why? Everything else has gone up in the game, why are yall still giving away slices for such a minimal profit? I charge 5k per slice now and still get alot of business.
We should unionize!

No a bad slice is when you get a slice with a low %. Like a 15% slice.
Some Smugglers will slice for free is the slice is bellow 20%. I don't. I don't control the slice results so why should I be the one punished if the % is low? You want a slice then you should know that it may not come out as good as you wanted and you should accept it and pay if it does.

Exactly my point. If/when you cut the wrong wire, then you should feel guilty.

There really should be a low-cap for these exceptional items, I even have people that wont look to me for slicing now.
When I slice crates of weapons ( like 150 items at once ) the average is 25-28%, I think ive only sliced a krayt weapon 25% damage once.
Is it normal to get a low slice on a super weapon?
I sliced 3 enhanced VKs last night, they had a +20, +26 and +26 vibro motor on them.
VK w/ +20 - 25% spd = 1.6 speed 35-165 dmg
VK w/ +26 - 26% dmg = 45-215 dmg
VK w/ +26 - 23% dmg = 44-210 dmg
I think these are good slices, and funny that the two high dmg vibro motors got dmg slices also.

!! Guy had the gall to complain, albiet half-heartedly, that he was hoping for an effectiveness slice!? Had to shake my head at that one, why can't people just be happy with whatever improvements we give their guns/armor?? I wasn't too mad though. After calculating the total price (250 cr per %), he owed me 102,000 credits. Not bad for 3 minutes of work huh?
