For some reason, most the the "uber" stuff I slice is terrible!
Most of the Scythes and krayt weapons I slice get like 17-20% speed!
There really should be a low-cap for these exceptional items, I even have people that wont look to me for slicing now.
When I slice crates of weapons ( like 150 items at once ) the average is 25-28%, I think ive only sliced a krayt weapon 25% damage once.
Is it normal to get a low slice on a super weapon?

When I give a bad slice I just say "sorry, wish I could give you a better slice, but it's out of my control. The % is totally random." I think most people understand that there's nothing you can do about it, and, while they might still be mad they got a bad slice, they won't blame you specifically.

You shouldn't feel guilty at all. Now that everyone can have sliced items they feal that they are entitled to them. They aren't. Sliced items are improved no matter what % they are increased. It was better than it was before and they couldn't have gotten it that good without you. If someone complains then ignore them and don't do business with them again. If it wasn't for you their weapon would be normal. Could they have gotten a better slice? sure. Are they entitled to one? no way.

There is NO such thing as a bad slice. a 17% damage slice still made the weapon's damage17% better.
If I give someone a 17% damage slice, I tell them they got a 17% damage slice, and charge them 5000 credits. If they complain, I will again request the 5000 credits. If they continue to complain, I will tell them that I am keeping their weapon until they pay me.
How many times has this happened to me? None. I do nothave complaints for lower-than-possible slices.
One thing you should NEVER do is lie about the percentage slice you gave a person, or not tell them how much you improved their weapon. That is very bad business, and will kill your slicing reputation.

Uhh... i don't know, according to some people who've posted in here, a 35% speed slice is 'bad.'
We've all heard the "Boo hoo, i spent 10 hours finding my uber loot for my super-spazoid bazooka scythe and it was RUINED with a 32% speed slice. oh woe is me."
Anyway, don't feel guilty if you gave a bad slice. It's ok to feel disappointed as we are smugglers and we do have egos. But the way it's set up, it's completely out of your control. Do you feel guilty when it rains?

LOL there lies the ignorance of the public. Like some other master smuggler would be better or worse than any other master smuggler. I would shrug it off. If they dont want me to slice for them anymore all that means is less tells while I do more important things. But if you really do feel bad (I dont know maybe you're really nice or something but I never seem to have that problem) and its a really good weapon (see the other thread about a bad slice on that nice rifle) you could suggest to them that they should wait to slice it until after the smuggler revamp. We may or may not be able to choose slices but it doesnt really hurt the guy to wait and see.

Only if I accidentally left the window open on a friend's car and they don't look before getting in the next day so they get their pants soaking wet

well i for one suspect that there is something about scythes and other high end weapons, they seem to get 15 - 23% speed 90% of the time

This brings up a chuckle I had last night. I'm sitting in Spamonet with my Master tag up, I was testing to see how people would react to my new pricing structions 300cr per % when I'm in Coronet 500cr per % at all other times.
So I get a tell:
RandomGuy#1: Heycan you slice weapons?(Why do they always ask this)
Me: Sure my pricing structure is 300cr per % per item.
RG#1: How good are you? (Once again why?)
Me: I'm as good as any other Master Smuggler, I use Molecular Clamps so I guarantee 100% success rates.
RG#1: So can you guarantee me a GOOD slice.
Me: Sorry hoss, I can't guarantee anything other than I'll be successful on my slicing attempt. Everything after that is 100% random. Anyone who tells you differently is either lieing or scamming.
RG#1: Well I used to be a Master Smuggler and I knew how to guarantee my slices. Your sucha NEWB LOLOLOL
Me: *sigh* /addignore.
