I should probably mention that some game bugs make it difficult not to comment on them in a sort of joking rp way, like the chair bug. I just can't help myself when someone suddenly lurches forward 10 feet and is sitting on air. Or like yesterday, when I launched into someone's nova, and found myself 300 meters away from it, standing in space

What Max said. I would do it all the time if all the other players were on board, but it's hard to maintain given the cross-section of different playing styles -- from all pvp to all rp. I guess I bend my rules to, you know, run my business.

Also, I agree with the people who speak of the difficulty of trying to rp when no one else around you is. It's not our place to force people to, but it'd be nice if they tried to casually play along...
And to the people who only OOC in brackets, well, I will agree that it's a good thing in places where rp is prevalent, but if you are ever in the MO, the brackets are meaningless. just meaningless. Maybe they can make this the rp server, but leave a couple of places like the MO and I guess one of the Dathomir outposts as free zones for the 1337whores.
Also, when I'm in a place like say, the Eisley cantina, I do EXPECT everyone to at least give rper the benefit of the doubt in there. I don't complain to people, expecially newbs for coming in and asking an ooc question, or asking for pistols 1, but I do try and guide them into using tells for that kind of thing.
Also, best thing to do if you absolutely have to rp all the time, would be to just maintain that the non IC people are simply speaking another language.

People roleplay in high english? Really? Well some of the Imperials in the movies were English but not OLDE English....odd...

Well this answers some of my curiosity on the subject. I know that I only get to roleplay so much because of my city and guild. Knowing when I step into the cantina it's gonna be IC makes it so much easier. And LOTS of the time we travel together too so we get to stay in character also. I like the odd looks we get when running a majorly dramatic story in the Dath cantina...yeah...good times.

I had the most fun RP'ing my smuggler. Doing a TK was alright, but stilted. Doing a smuggler, pushing drugs, acting sleazy... what a trip.
Sure, nobody understands you.
Sure, you end up competing with 'pls heal me if i need it and watch me i ned dance xp' macros.
Sure, nobody actually wants the drugs you're selling.
Sure, if you try to haggle about a slice price folks will /report you.
Thing is, try involving non-rp'ers in RP anyway. If someone saw me outside of the starport and asked what I charged, I told them I only do business in person. When they walked over, I told them to meet me in the bar, and not to follow me. If they showed up, they were game. If not, it saved me an annoying explanation. When they got there, I told them (when there was someone else there) that my 'people' were all over the bar, and that we'd better keep everything business-like if we didn't want trouble. When I sliced, I'd hem and haw. Once I was in competition with another slicer, charging less. Had to justify my pricing by saying I was the best. I managed to get two top-notch damage slices, at which point the client finally got into the rp spirit and paid me double what I'd asked.
Two weeks later I was in getting a mind buff, and went /afk. When I came back someone had asked me in spatial (and really OOC) what my prices were. The same happy customer from before happened to be there, and said: He's the best, he's worth whatever he asks. But he probably won't work for you, because he's the real deal. They'd both left by the time I was ATK again, but it was gratifying.
RP anyway, makes the game more than numbers.

i agree.
when you don't really feel like slicing, RP. either the guy is a jerk and goes away, or he gets into it, and you are suddenly in the mood to slice.

I roleplay a fair ammount. Take it when I can get it.
I used to get into it a lot when training people in TK...made them meditate and think about the lessons they had learned since their last training, talked about how we were better than the Jedi.
Had a nice little scene recently...somoene moping around Coronet....gave them some pixie to make them feel better, it was nice cuz they played along.
I also like to have SW political discussions. My favortie is when people tell me the EMperor is a sith....the cult that was wiped out 10,000 years ago.....right...lay of the pixie pal.
However, Guild Chat and tells are generally ooc.
Here's the challenge for all the 10 rpers.....talk like Lucas wrote your dialouge.

One thing RPers should remember is that this is Star Wars, not D & D. In the movies people spoke modern English. I've played with some RPerswho wouldsay something like "I say kind gent, would thouagree to partake in the noble hunt of the sisters of night on yonder Dathymir?" and I say "What the hell are you talking about?" and then get chastised for being OOC. I believe "What the hell are you talking about" would be in the vernacular of Han Solo or Lando Calrissian, whereas the floweryOld Englishlanguage would not.

i like to roleplay, have rare occaisions to actually use it, and when i do find myself being sorely outclassed by the true roleplayers. but i ain't givin' up.
so i think i'm abouta 7. i won't spam that i'm a smuggler (duh), i refuse to slice in crowded locations (meet me around the corner, etc.), and whenever i'm posed with an RP situation i jump right in, acting very smuggly.

Definately a 0...I couldn't roleplay if my life counted on it 
Just kidding. I'm going to go with a 9 here. I think the advantage that the original poster and I have is that we're in a roleplaying guild. It's nice to know that when I run into someone in town they are going to be in character. But then there are those OOC moments that are fun too. But yeah..overall probably a 9. Though I still sometimes feel like I'm not good at it

WhenI do get into character, its easy to play... basically its me with a much cooler job title lol. non-political, passive-aggressive, bad luck follows him everywhere- but likes to gamble anyways, and doesn't like to fight, but when forced to, uses every dirty trick he's gotup his sleeve. I can't act to save my life, so why pretend that i can?

That was awesome!!! There were so many of us RPing and your character was SO mad at Oakai...and in the middle of it all that guy from HAKD came in to use the AFK dancer...I'll bet he was sendinga few comments into HAKD guildchat about the crazy roleplayers
