I have looted hundreds of SEA's. The better ones were off high level NPC's and in Locked Maglock containers. I have gotten the only 7 skill level SEA out of MagLock container.

Perhaps they aren't that much better, but the average of the ones I got out of Maglocked containers were better then the ones I have ever gotten off NPC corpses...

I think a certain degree of luck is involved there. However, if you negate an entire post based on one sentence you really need to re-evaluate how you look at things.

Build my template for Combat and see how awesome you will be...

And I will grant you that I have not been a Master Smuggler in quite some time, however, once I finish the current project I am working on in TC I am going to be making a Master Smuggler again. Before I didn't have the luxury of being able to have the awesome BH skill tree that I will now and had to rely on Pistoleer Skill trees, but I was extremely effective and could hunt any planet I chose solo...

So discount me if you will, but if you haven't at least tried my Template then your opinion is higly flawed and your logic lacking insight and factual support....

Have a nice day!

Um, you are aware that those Maglocks are likely ones that anyone can open? No actual slicing needed? There's ones that are sealed that -cannot- be opened, at all.

Ok, fine. I'll bite:

Point 1 - The Vocal Majority of this forum are NOT complaining about combat. They are complaining about teh lack of CONTENT. We do not Smuggle, as our name states we do.

Point 2 - Where have you introduced anything new, except to make yet another post regarding a FOTM template? You may have a good pistol based template, but I could take you with Master TK and Master Ranger only. Does that make me a god? No, it makes me intelligent enough to learn how to play my character instead of believe I can just beat something to death spamming a special.

Point 3 - I discounted your credibility because you were hopelessly wrong on two points you attempted to make. We cannot slice Mag-Seals, and the Skillpoints for JTL are on a different system (I just neglected to comment on that one because I already considered you unintelligent).

Shall we continue?

Caylen (spelling sorry),

You make some interesting points, but smugglers were never suppose to be combat gods on their own.

I never said we should be, you said we were.

But what makes them a cut above the rest is the KNOCKDOWN with a pistol, the fastest firearm in the game.

Do you pvp often? Easily negated just with some simple food and you wont be knocking down a defense stacker.

Frankly there is no single Class in and of itself that is all powerful.

Correct, but some are more equal than others. To say a smuggler is a combat god is false when directly compared with a real combat profession.

A TK without Buffs, ala TK/Master Doc will go down pretty fast against most other classes from a distance. I have proven it myself. A friend has a TKMaster and I had just a lowly Novice Pistoleer, but with a little clever-ness and the wisdom to never get close I dropped him.

That doesn't make smugglers combat gods, as you claim. Once again, you mention pistoleer. That is not smuggler.

He had good armor, but no buffs.... Add Buffs into the equation and it makes a huge difference.

They make a difference to anyone. Why do you think those crafters are getting into the DWB?

However, TK's don't get Buffs without paying for them which is a limited resource or being a Doc and TK. Thus a combo-profession.

Though your points are interesting you don't actually poke holes in anything I said.

I'm acting off your statement that we are combat gods, when obviously we are not and we shouldn't be.

Smugglers have the only Pistol Knockdown in the game. Last Ditch does massive damage. I went through more Dark Troopers and Rancor with that single attack then I thought possible at the time.

Sorry, pistoleers have melee defense. Also a knockdown. Fan shot is better DPS than last ditch.

Every profession in this game has holes. That's intentional so that not one profession has every player in the game in it. You must be diverse.

If you want to be a combat goon you must have multiple professions, period.

The template I described just happens to be one of the best.

If anyone deserves to complain I'd say it's Commando's frankly. However, with the right stacking you can be a very potent Commando as well. And remember Commandos were designed for SIEGE combat, aka taking out installations, turrets and AT-ST's with heavy weapons.

Like I said I see you points, but think you want too much for Smuggler profession. Smugglers aren't Jedi's and aren't suppose to be the end all be all combat goons by themselves. With the right Combo they can be though! So pick one, Combat or Smuggling... You can do both once Piloting skills come out..

Flame on!

Pieces!

Again, I'll repeat, you were the one saying we were combat gods. Not I. Don't attribute godliness to a profession who has such a small role in your victories.

First, I don't PVP anymore and haven't since about the 3rd month of live. I find the practices of most PvP's deploreable at best.

Second, I did not read the part about Pilot skills, however in Test Center they have them in the Bio treelisted asprofession masteries. None-the-less that just further strengthens my point of view.

Third, franklyI haven'tread more then4 or sobooks. I saw the first star wars onopening day and probably about 30 more times in the first six months it was out. I have however played the RPG. So what is in the books isn't really relevant to me. Han Solo is Harrison Ford portraying him in Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. What I grew up with.

While I am a huge fan of the Star Wars universe I am not a ravenous or obsessed fan who reads every thing that ever happened. When I play the ST Trivial Pursuit game I always do very well though...

And let us remember that we aren't suppose to be Han Solo's or Luke Skywalkers... We play their professions, but they are icons of the genre...

To the guy that said shut up like 30 times, you're apen!s dude... It's ok for you people, smuggler complainers, to throw in a complaint in every single thread that I have read, but when someone does it back to you you reply with SHUT UP...

I know how to play a Smuggler in this game. I know how to enjoy playing a smuggler in this game. I complain about things like customer service and bugs mostly. This please make my profession godly or able to compete against the TK's is really getting ridiculous...

Enjoy your flaming...

You say people are discrediting you point of view, yet you stop in here and tell people who have been smugglers for a long long time that nothing is wrong. Dude I have an uber combat temp in master TKA/Pistoleer/Smuggler. But i cant sell spice and i have no real use for unarmed. I dont want to drop my master smuggler title because im a true smuggler at heart and feel that stuff in the smuggler skill tree needs to be fixed. Get a clue before you drop in and tell us what is what.

??????

I'm confused.....

First you say "SMUGGLERS ARE COMBAT GODS!!!!!!!! If you take the right support professions!"

Then:

"Smuggling. Yep it ain't there. Ok a good, valid issue. One that will be somewhat addressed in JTL by adding ships.

Mind you the original post of mine was directed completely towards the VERY VOCAL community of Smugglers who complain about their Combat ability. Therefore that's what that was aimed at."

Now you say "First, I don't PVP anymore and haven't since about the 3rd month of live. I find the practices of most PvP's deploreable at best."

So...what are you trying to get at??? You said the VERY VOCAL community...I've been reading these boards for a while, and I don't feel that the VVC have been complaining about not being Godlike. I have seen a number of requests for spices to be fixed and more in line with Chef foods, Underworld to actually do something more than it does, and slicing to have a bit more to it. I have seen a few requests for the combat tree to have unarmed skills added to it, but I haven't seen any requests for Smugglers to be godly. Please show me those posts, as I'm unable to find them, and would be interested to see where you base your opinion from. Thanks

Yimaz...

The complaints I always here aren't about the class, and I do hear them alot, which is why I got frustrated and chimed in here, are 99% about combat.

As I have said there are some problems in the smuggler profession, but that I think JtL will by default fix a lot of the feel.

How many professions have a Knockdown attack?

How many professions have a Feign Death ability to save their butt in PvE?

Is Underworld a lil weak? Yes.

I remember back when BH investigation tree was just something that sucked the life out of that profession too. Did it make it unplaybale? No! Does Underworld make Smugglers unplayable? No...

Looking at the profession all by itself here is what I see...

Very good combat special abilities for a class that is only moderately aimed at combat. Slicing is a huge huge bonus even if there is currently bugs with the magcontainers and slicing out things. When I played a smuggler, and it has been several months (6 or 7) I was able to slice anything, containers and terminals. If that is broken I am sorry, but those aren't complete revamp issues either.

Spices I agree there are only a couple descent ones. Heck I think only one is really good, and that's Muon of course.

The problem with the prices for those is that SMUGGLER PLAYERS TANKED the prices.. You flood the market and prices drop it's just simple economics... I always keep a crate on my characters though for those times when crap-happens though.

Back to slicing. I don't have a character on live that doesn't have something sliced. Every time I buy armor I buy several sets at a time so that I can get the ENC sliced. That makes Smugglers lots of money as I have to keep having slice another piece. Not to mention degradation makes me come back when the armor is trashed...

If you are a stand alone smuggler you have a crap-load of skill points just laying around. Only a fool wouldn't take something that will either A help you build around a concept/role play or B you take combat support skill boxes to make you more potent.

Saying look at a Teras Kasi by itself and you could still find some holes in them as well. Then again TK's are STRICT combat classes where as Smugglers are HYBRID classes. Hybrid classes in all games from EQ to SWG are always less potent then a class directed to on specific thing. A combat class is really good in combat. A healer class is really good at healing. A class that is suppose to do both will do so descently but never as good as the single objective classes.

It very much sounds like many of you wish the HYBRID class of smuggler to be as directly effective as DIRECT PROFESSION class such as Doctors and Teras Kasi. And that's just not going to happen.

I love SMUGGLERS! Their bugs have only minor effect on the fun I can have in the game....

And let me be clear I STILL say that the BH/Smuggler/Pistoleer template is a GODLIKE Combination in this game.

As built to the Template I stated they are gods. Gods all by themselves of course not. No class is.. But they can be involved in one of the most damaging, PvE and PvP, templates in the game. Even if you don't knock em down you still have Eye Shot, you can have Fan shot if thats the tree you take and have less dodge.

The range of attacks and damage done is enormous!

Feign Death is awesome... It saved me in fights I shouldn't have been in many times!

You can have a descent income from Slicing and Muon combined.

I can not see how this class is soooo broken as portrayed in the posts in other forums, threads... I just don't see it...

Who is going tomake a Smuggler and leave 129 skill points just laying around???????????? It ridiculous to consider this or any profession all by itself. Every profession must be considered along with support professions. If I want to be a bad-ass Gun Fighter Smuggler/BH is the way to go. If I want to be a MONK like character, TK/Smuggler is the way to go. If I want to be a great Armor or WeaponSmith combining it with Smuggling is a great way to go... Smuggler's right now are one of the most versitle classes in the game.

And someone else mentioned the TK/Smuggler combo... Another great combo! Smuggler is a HybridProfession that when added to many other classes is just down right awesome and fun to play... No profession does it all in every situation, but a Smuggler can do just enough of everything to always be high need... Slicing says it all...

What are you fighting with your godlike template? You say you don't pvp anymore so I'm assuming you concentrate on PvE... so what is it you're fighting? Meatlumps? Stormtroopers? Tuskens? NSs? Krayt? GDKs? Death Watch? Corevette NPCs? SBDs? What exactly is it you're godlike against with a pistol?

KefKaQ,

Content... mm well that's the one thing this game has always been a little lite on.

What class has class specific content?

Teras Kasi?

Doctor?

Droid Engineer?

The only one that comes to mind is Jedi, and that's just now with the new system in Publish 10...

The Scythe quest is a joke for Swordsman.

The theme parks are about it content wise.

Someone said scanning hardly ever happens? Say what? I can't go to Kaadara without getting scanned! On TestCenter I was scanned three times in the last three times I was on.

Maybe I just have the unfortunant luck to be scanned often....

I have said my peace on the matter... Consider vent to be over... Go back to complaining about how broken your class is amongst yourselves... I still disagree....

Show one where we want to be combat gods...

As I have said there are some problems in the smuggler profession, but that I think JtL will by default fix a lot of the feel.

The feel? All they have said is we get to fly around in a YT-1300 and pretend we're Han Solo...Oooh, thats content

How many professions have a Knockdown attack?

BH, Pistoleer, Pikemen...etc

How many professions have a Feign Death ability to save their butt in PvE?

That would be because we're not Combat Gods as you say....if it worked.

Is Underworld a lil weak? Yes.

A little weak? Keep going...

I remember back when BH investigation tree was just something that sucked the life out of that profession too. Did it make it unplaybale? No! Does Underworld make Smugglers unplayable? No...

No, we're still playing the profession, its a dying dedication to a profession we love. We just want work done on it

Looking at the profession all by itself here is what I see...

Do your homework, terminals and containers aren't the issue.

Our only source of real income and about the only smugglish thing we have...does not make us smugglers

If you are a stand alone smuggler you have a crap-load of skill points just laying around. Only a fool wouldn't take something that will either A help you build around a concept/role play or B you take combat support skill boxes to make you more potent.

As would an Artisan or any other non-Combat or semi-Combat Profession in order to survive. But it's the other professions you've stated that make your UBER-Combat God...not UBER Smugger God.

Saying look at a Teras Kasi by itself and you could still find some holes in them as well. Then again TK's are STRICT combat classes where as Smugglers are HYBRID classes. All we wish for is content and useful skills, sure we have a few but a couple of skills doesn't make a profession.

I love SMUGGLERS! Their bugs have only minor effect on the fun I can have in the game....

As do we, which is why we strive to make it a better profession, not to be UBER Combat Gods. I would suggest sticking around our forum for sometime to get an understanding of what we want before trolling in to stir up the hornets nest.
