Any links perhaps? I'd very much like to see what's being talked about here.

no idea how to make a clicky.
Interesting, if not a bit random, read.
But not the doc I'm refering to. This was years ago...maybe six or seven...at a GDC. It was a PowerPoint type presentation.
Sorry I don't have time to research it atm.
i'd really be interested in reading it...
can anyone give a brief summary of what he was saying in it?
Yeah... come here a moment... yeah, closer... I need to whisper something in your ear. It won't take long... yeah.
"LET US SMUGGLE!"
Yeah, that is all.

hehe yeah i've read most of it... i dunno, i'm sorta on the fence about raph's ideas.
i mean, he makes some valid points, but he is definitely lofty in his ideals. he also likes to talk A LOT about vague ideas, and doesn't really seem to get down to the nitty gritty of actual game design mechanics.
he's definitely a strange guy. and case in point SWG is a game that did not fulfill its potential under his watch.
whether it was his fault, or the fault of the people at Lucas Arts is unknown to me.

What I got out of his ramblings is this... he knows how to make a game that can make money for the Developers, but he has no clue how to make one to make loyal players happy. Subscriber turnover, in his mind, is a good thing.
I just wish that one of these days a game developer would make a game that I can enjoy, and who will actually care if I'm having a good time or not.

i've been through that site. i didn't notice any talks or essays about how game developers should treat their customers. any idea what the talk was titled? or any key words i can google besides "raph koster"?

Please, PLEASE don't leave me openings like that! I actually do like being able to post on these forums.
