Some people put a lot of effort in to making their slicing tools (i.e. using really nice materials) and Caylin is correctly saying that it doesn't matter how **edit**ty the materials are, there effect will be completely random.
Are you sure? I picked up some 1000 conductivity Copper recently and I'm definitely seeing better results these days with my Flow Analysers modules.
Selling them on the bazaar in crate with the title "Harsh's 100% result Fow Analyser Modules". I can't believe no-one has ever tried this before!

I dont know what to say...The words "Slicing is random" is apparently to hard for some people to understand...
Its all math. People has been thinking in thousands of years trying to figure out the randomness system....And then some *EDIT* from a MMORP says that they have figured it out....
RANDOM= RANDOM AND NOTHING ELSE!

i found something that do affect slice...
After slicing more than 4 crates of composite armors, you don't see anymore what you do and you fail your slices....

Reminds me once when I zoned out while slicing a friends armor, forgot to use a clamp on the chestplate, pants, and a bicep, and ended up with 28% effective slice minimum on those three pieces.

I don't doubt that slicing is random, but saying it over and over again doesn't make it any more true.
If you want people to believe you, Caylin, how about you offer up some statistical data gathered as a result of experimentation? Dev posts alone are insufficient proof, these are the same people who have lied to us for a full year about the coming of the Sumggler revamp.
It's easy to convince the weak-minded with demagoguery. The discerning mind wants documentation and datainstead.

If you so doubt it, provide your own evidence to disprove it.
Don't expect someone else to do your dirty work.Provide us with documentation and data so our discerning minds can see for ourselves. You want to dispute it, so you can prove it.
I've tested in the past and all results were for it to be random. You can even see me do tests in this forum when someone else had a 'method' they said worked.
Having tested and confirmed the random nature of slicing myself, I'll let you get off your rear and prove it yourself.

I said (in bold so it would be clear), I don't doubt that slicing is random. You even quoted the sentence in your post.
I'm merely saying that shouting that again and again in many different ways is not proof of your point. You are the one making the claim, it's your job to provide evidence of your assertion. We don't need to prove you wrong, your duty as the Correspondent is to provide hard data to support your claim. If you can't or won't, you've failed in your responsibility to properly inform the community. Don't expect everyone to believe you simply because of your title.

I was trying to use this as an example to others. If you don't think it is random, provide evidence yourself. Don't expect other people to do it for you. This remains my stance and still applies. If you want spreadsheets, don't expect anyone to do it for you. I quite honestly, don't have to do any such thing.

I don't expect them to, but I'd hope I'd earned some amount of trust that what I say is what I'm going to do. If I don't, I try to explain why.
This entire thread was not an exercise in showing you proof but telling a truth as perceived.
I could easily make this thread titled 'The grass is green!' and no one would be expecting me to go outside, take pictures and prove it as it is able to be observed by themselves if they make an effort to do so. So don't expect me to do that with slicing here either. I've done plenty of testing. Did I take large logs just for you to peruse? No I did not. So if you feel a lack in the data we have, I'd be quite happy to see you provide it and not expect me to take up this cross.
