Thread: Smuggler delay

Does anyone else find it amazing how meaningless professions in the SW Univers (ie: Image Designers) have gotten revamped? Whereas one of the most anticipated professions with launch hasnt gotten the fixes it needs. WHY do we get spice skill points and not even get the chance to use them? What other point does the underworld tree? You cant make a profit on ur afk macro because ur gunna need to count how much faction u delegate. Dont even get me started on dirty fighting.....and what the HELL is with not being able to ACTUALLY SMUGGLE something in this game? Wouldnt it be cool to have to evade all of the imperial authorities while trying to smuggle some illegal goods/weapons/armor/drugs/droids? The only way you can "do" this right now is if ur an RPer....and who has time to RP when everyone and their mother is grinding to be an uber defense stacker?

why not? you rushed out a crappy, unfinished game a year ago to fulfill your commitment...what's changed?

Wow just another CLASSIC response from SOE, I wonder what these people would do with real deadlines in a more serious profession...ya know what...they would be fired. If I planned a project for my company, and had to delay it 5 times, to the tune of months and months, then I would be looking for another job. Sony needs to "downsize" this entire department and hire some programmers who are capable of performing at the level required to keep a customer base that spans a couple hundred thousand satisfied. I hope one of these people comes to my office one day looking for a job, I will take one look at him and say "Oh really you worked on SWG...I'm sorry we are looking for programmers who actually accomplish their assignments in the alloted time."
To top it off they come up with some BullSh|t excuse that the two people who are in charge of remaining in contact with the customer base will be "unavailable." This just adds insult to injury. Do the math (using conservative numbers,) and SOE is taking in over 3 MILLION dollars a month, just from SWG. Now I understand that there is HUGE cost associated with this venture (bandwith costs alone must be astronomical) but you can't tell me that with an monthly income of this they can't afford to hire more programmers. Check outyour local college, I am willing to bet that you can find at least a dozen programmers who not only can perform up to and BEYOND the level of their current programmers, but who would LOVE to work for SOE for college wages, much less then they are paying their current batch of programmers.
"A complete reimagining of the system by which you become Jedi - a profession choice that a huge majority of the playerbase desires to take in one form or another"
You know what??F__K jedi. LOL. Seriously. The Jedi playerbase is less than 1%, even if everyone and their cousin THINKS they are going to be a jedi someday... thats how reality plays out.Less than 1 out of 100 players are, and personally, I think it should stay that way or even be less.
And to that end... I really dont see how they are catering to 1% of the playerbase... when the fact is... jedi arent even really supposed to exist at this point in time in the game.
But that is just one of the major problems i have.... another is the falsenotion that TKA are "supposed to keep jedi in line"; we all know how well the tka kept Darth Vader in line. Or any other jedi for that matter. LOL. A sith would be able to wtfpwn a tk master without even using a lightsaber or even his hands for that matter.
Then there is the notion that a tka can somehow beat someone with a pistol... thats a load of horse manure too; if han solo starts shootingfromacross the room Mr Kung Fu is goin down, and he better have made out his will, because he is going home in adoggiebag.
The truth is this game is a sham as far as being representative of the star wars universe, but there are alot of great features too so its not a total loss.Where else can you ride a swoop bike, or landspeeder? Where else do you get to mixn match your skills like this? I like how the buffs work, I like the idea of being pumped up and going out and teara$$ing through mobs for a certain amount of time.
I personally hope that out of this whole schmeer of a$$hattery, that combat becomes basically balanced... that smuggler and bh have special missions that are actually worth participating in the profession for... that spice actually has a purpose to make it worth selling, andunderworld... well should actually have a purpose other than towaste points on,yadda yadda... make master smugglera title worth having, only title i know of that basically gets zilch for making it to master.
Thinking of just cutting back to dirty fighting to augment my pistol, and putting the restinto a profession that is actually meaningful, like cook or something ROFL!

Truer, sadder words have never been spoken.

P.S Wasn't Thunderheart meant to be around here some time soon? Did I miss that?
I personally am waiting to see how (more like"if" at this point) this comes to pass, and if it's a quality time versus a single post cover-smoke blowing issue.

Lets not forget what was posted and the timeline:
June 3 -that infamous State of the Game message was posted with news of yet another delay in our revamp, throwing this community into a rage.
June 4 - JustG makes a post on the smuggler boards to soothe the troubled spirits, and makes this comment - "We are at the FF right now, so TH and I are going to be fairly unavailable at this time, but we will spend some time with you next week..." (JustG on 6-4-04)
June 5 - Again, JustG posts, notifying us that GreenMarine is again going to work on our revamp when his other obligations are fulfilled. This is much like a post done by Q-3PO in september of last year.
It is now June 11th,almost the endof the "next week", and there has been no time spent here by a red name, other than a quick blurb in Caylin's going MIA post (and the post has nothing to do with anything smuggler). "Next week" is, technically, over this coming Saturday at midnight. 38.75 hours remain (where I am located) for JustG's comment about spending time here to be achieved.
I personally am waiting to see how (more like"if" at this point) this comes to pass, and if it's a quality time versus a single post cover-smoke blowing issue.
You know I am just as upset as all of you at the treatment we're getting, but when you keep coming out with the same height of annoyance I wonder just how healthy that is for all of you.
It's been 6 days since something was said in response to our annoyance at being ignored and passed over. I am hoping the revamp is great for us, but I can't keep pulling anger up from nowhere to continue wailing on the developers with my words of anger. It's not healthy and chances are you end up walking around in a bad mood for the rest of the day. We should not be seen like many see the nerf criers. Give it another 6 days and then bring it up in a civil manner.
