Jim Ward sounds like atool
No wonder this game sucks so hard with a clown like that in charge. I can't stand managers who bury bad news under inspirational candyfloss fluff. Employees do not buy it, they see it for what it is, corporate dishonesty

LA is as responsible, if not more responsible, than SOE. They own the license. They approve all ideas. They allow or restrict everything that goes on in this game. If they wanted better, they could have better.
Even Lucas is guilty in this one (I know blasphemy) be it through indifference or ignorance.
That's all probably true, but it ignores one important fact:
Lucas Arts doesn't write the code. EVERY bug, EVERY feature that breaks old features, EVERY failed hotfix is solely and entirely the fault of SOE. LucasArts simply neglects the game, but SOE is the negligent party in the end.

LucasArts deserve bonuses more so then SOE staff.
what for? telling SOE how to screw an MMORPG up even more efficiently?
For making SW: Empire at War

1. That's not really an MMO.
2. It's still LA and they're the ones driving this bus. They may have better programmers, but their track record on management of a dynamic game is pretty crappy based on SWG.

Just so you folks know, Empire at War is another LA produced game. The devs there are Petroglyph Studios, and they comprise mostly of ex-Westwood Studios employees, responsible for the legendary Command and Conquer games.
As my sig implies, I'm totally jacked about that game - those westwood devs were and are all kinds of awesome. The demos from e3/gamespot of *live play* definitely drive that point home.
I'm a bit skeptical about the gameplay in that one. It doesn't look like a first person shooter, which is ok, BUT It looks more like an Age of Empires™ type of gameplay, which can get boring.

This is the Important Issue at hand. I couldn't care less about the emote (i understand the people that do though).
For me and I thought the community, the issue of most importance and one that is always at hand is that there is no Smuggling in the game; this is what I always have at the forefront of my mind and the thing I'd preferably concentrate on and address as much as possible.
But it shows once again - how out of touch our CR People are - and THAT is the problem.
I'm also worried about the disparity between the community and the developers (that's all of them, not just Tiggs and TH) and it's something I've attempted to call attention to, especially in relation to the way players view Smuggling not being in the game compared to how they view it (which brings me back to my primary issue).
I for one don't care much for TH or Tiggs coming here and do damage control (which i am pretty sure they find silly "have to look after the stupid kids") or flame posters or giving out more non-information.
Well, that's part of their job, especially when people are posting that they think something done by either of them was done with intention to cause offence and/or as an in-joke at the office at the players' expense.
They can come back when they have something to say - then you can thank them.
Hopefully they will have cause to and will do so. Until then, we can't very well ask for more developer communication and then turn away from it when some appears (albeit under the circumstances/current topic).
(but i already told you, that your way of repling to the crap they throw at us, is very irritating)
Feeling that of course is your prerogative, but being courteous is mine. I didn't think the TT was all that tactfull given our feelings and history, but that doesn't mean I start treating developers as 'the enemy'. If you have a difficulty with me over this feel free to sling me a PM (as always, goes for everyone).
Damn You Belden!!
Your niceness takes my anger away - don't do this.
Okay, be nice to the DEVs - just don't be nice to me
I feel all......
God - that you are always this composed makes my skin crawl.
What must one do to anger you?
It is so very irritating.
Respectfully

Wow, he likes using the phrase "insanely great" a lot, doesn't he?
He's not the only one. The guy who first gotattention for using the phrase over and over was Steve Jobs when he was originallywith Apple.
Considering what Jobs hasaccomplished with Apple and Pixar, it's not surprisingthere are other people in that little part of Californiawho want to emulatehim -- in particular, his desire to makestuff that's so"insanely great" that word of mouth is all the marketing you need.

SOE is leaving bugs in the game but only because ALL CODE has to get LA approval. EQ2 bugs get fixed very fast.
This is a good point. There's something to be said for controlling your own license, as SOE does with EQ and Blizzard does with WoW.
It'll be interesting to see whetherStar Trek Onlineis subject to the same kinds of content control exercised by Paramount that SOE has hadto cope with from LucasArts. (Hint: Expect it.)
