You should charge as much as you can and not feel guilty. I figure if 10% of the potential clients leave b/c of prices, then I'm about right. And don't forget to deny service to anyone who is rude about your prices. You don't need to deal with them anyway.

Now the way I reckon, its like this man. I charge 200 cred per % point. It's my business what I charge. And the way I reckon, most of the peeps on my server don't even pay to get crap sliced anymore. They got guild alts that do that sorta thing for free. So I reckon I'm lucky every slice I make. And when they don't have a guild alt, a lotta peeps on my server will go to a smuggla' chargin' ten times what I do simply 'cause they are buds with 'em. Really man. What does it cost me but a few clamps made with junk resources and a little time? I swear ya'll. You take care of your own business and keep yer thumbs outta mine. Don't tell me most of the heavies on your server are gettin' this stuff sliced for free anyway.

If you see a Smuggler charging 100cr per percent or 2k for slices, you are not looking at a good deal. You are looking at an undercutter that's putting other people out of business because he's got no appreciate for what he or she is doing for the weapon/armor or their profession.

I'm going to stay out of your business but ALOT of the highend PvPers on my server do contact me for slicing and 4/5 times they tip me 3-5x what I ask. I got 100k for slicing two lances the other day, one being a 18% speed slice.
I do not usually quote these people because they know my style. But they are aware of what I expect as a minimum payment and they do understand that my time is valuable to me and that if I am busy, I will finish what I am doing b4 I go to help them.
200cr/% ends up with a max total payout of 9k for a perfect encumberance slice. I charge 10k per slice period... not that much of a different in this case. The one thing that got to me though was doing all the math way back when... specifically when I had +5 items to slice.

I slice for Free for my guild and our one allied guild. The docs buff for free, and the crafters give us stuff pretty often, so its good for all of us. To a stranger, I like to RP. If they are very nice and genial to me, I will tell them its up to them what they pay. People always tip me really highly because I play up the RP heavily. My character is a true gentleman to women and other Imperials. I am very civil to all others as well. I have been tipped 100k for slicing and having good in character conversations with people.
If the person is using leet speak or being rude, I will either tell them that I am busy and to send me a tell some other time, or I will slice for them at a flat fee. That fee is dependant on how much they have irritated me. I have yet to be told to bugger off. I must admit that my prices tend to be lower than what others post here, but I am not in it for the cash at all. Its mostly for fun and for my guild. i like play combat characters, but i want to be useful to the group as a whole.

<15% = 5k
16-20%=7k
21-30%=10k
30% + =15k
For friends/guildmates, I usually do it for free. But, they provide me with resources and tool schematics for free, so it evens out in the end.

I've been a Master Smuggler for less than a week now, here are 2 of my best slices:

Sorry, clickies weren't working for me at all anymore...
It was my first day, I didn't know any better than to charge 100cr per % (IDIOT, IDIOT!!!). They tipped me 10k each, and after reading on here, I now charge 10k per slice. Obviously I wish I would've gotten tipped more, since these items came out nicely. The PH got a 32% damage slice, the LVA got a 31% damage slice. Yesterday I sliced someone's Nym VK for 10k and it came out to 35% damage.
At 10k per slice, it's a decent enough living.

Hey Guys,
Atm im slicing 2, and im charging 3k for a weapons slice...and 350 credits for a container (this is just to cover the costs).
Do you think these are resonable...and when i get to slicing 4/master what is the current going rate...price wise.
Cheers

Personally i wouldn't slice other ppls weapons at slicing 2, you won't get any good slices for your customers. When you get to master/slicer the price range i have notice here, can be quite large. But the avg i would say is 5k a slice, any lower and you might be undercutting fellow smugglers.

The whole point is...
You should NOT be slicing for the public at slicing 2. Goto the bazaar or contact an artisan and get them to make crates of survivalknives for you to slice so you can get up to slicing 4. THEN start slicing for the public.

10,000 minimum for a slice, Why are you only charging 5k????? People pay 15-50k for a buff that lasts 3 hours, and your charging 5 k for a permanant "buff" to a piece of equipment. You are selling yourself short.
I slice for 5k for weapons and Ill tell you why. The "Buffs," I am giving to them is a Random buff, it can range from anywere from 15% to 35%. Considering Docters use good materials for their buffs and I use pure crap resouces for my tools, Im making a huge profit with 5k. Slicing a weapon or two literially only takes a minute or two.
I do, how ever charge 10k for armor, composit armor is hell to slice. I think we can all agree on that.

I usually pay 5k for a Master slice. There is one smuggler who will slcie for 4k a pop in bulk.

About three months ago I started an experiment with pricing to see what people really felt was right. I stopped setting a price. I tell people I set no price, they are free to tip me what they feel is right.
After 3 months, my average is about 15K, but I've got up to 500K for a slice, which was for a 30%+ dam slice on a nice lance. Sure I get people who pay 1k, but so far I've had no one refuse to tip anything. I think the bottom line is people are willing to pay 10K+ for a slice, especially if it is a very expensive or rare weapon.
BTW, I agree with Obono and DigiDante, you shouldn't slice for the public until you at least get slicer 4. Most people will expect you to be a master and will either ask you up front or be upset if they find out and you don't want that kind of word of mouth. I have found a great deal of success with slicing depends on building relationships with customers that last and slicing at such a low level is risking getting a bad reputation.
Buck it up, buy some crates of survival knives and grind yourself to Slicing 4 it will be worth it in the long run and really doesn't take that long.
