Smugglers are the same as they were 2 weeks ago. This was a gcw content patch not a smuggler patch.

We all want smuggler content. Some people want to be ups drivers and some of us want to be smugglers,
rogues, underworld bosses. You dont get that from delievering small packages
of spice to yavin 4 for your buddy.

This is the absolute truth, this Crackdown was not the smuggler content that was needed... UPS driver is exactly what they wanted to be... oh yeah carry my armor for me to naboo... carry my gun to tat.. oh yeah loads of fun

Good luck to you San

SanTsu, I am shocked at your complete and total lack of control and/or tact in this thread. There were a LOT of people who jumped up and supported you when some of the more vocal members of this community decided to voice their opinions of your job performance. You have just completely disrespected every person who stood up for you and rallied around you with support. You say that you don't care if you have our respect? Fine. Now you don't. I have never seen anyone (with the exception of an old poster from before the game went into beta) throw such a childish tantrum upon being challenged. Some people on these forums were undeservedly hard on you, but I never felt like they were flaming you at all. They were simply expressing their displeasure in the belief that you were not representing them accurately or with enough fervor. You did little to combat that. It may not have made a difference, but you could have tried a little harder.

When the correspondent forums were opened, many of us got a chance to see what you had posted. You did not put up much of a fight for the community's viewpoint as you did not agree with the argumentsmany of uswere presenting. Fine. You have stepped down, and we, as a profession, have moved on. Should this have been posted? Probably not. It's over and done with. I think Electricnomad was a little out of line for starting this thread, but he has every right to vocalize his displeasure with you after learning that his (along with many others) views were not represented with much dedication.

What really disappoints me is the fact that you come in here and resort to telling people to 'eat you' and callingmembers of thiscommunity'a pimple on your ass'. You then go on to accuse those people of making these boards a whinefest while in the midst of pissing and moaning about how no one defended you when they were knocking on your door. Truly, truly a sad day to learn that we have been represented by a person with the maturity level of a 13-year-old.

Oh. And by the way, this is something that I am sure many others have wanted to do for a long, long time. The simple fact of the matter is that we would prefer to be represented by some one who knows how to type correctly and coherently:

If you dont like the way I handled the last weeks of my tenor tenure thats not my problem. You might have liked there their ideas but like them you had no clue what you where were asking for.

I am not going to touch on grammar or punctuation errors, but I think you get my point. And, yes, I do realize that I am being an ass. Go ahead and flame me. I would expect nothing less at this point from some one that I used to hold in a much higher regard.

This is something I was wondering about. First TH says that there is not way to implement inventory scans are the servers could not handle the extra loads. Then less than a month later the crackdown is announced, where Imperial patrols will be scanning players for contraband.

Personally, I think that TH is mis-informed.

SWG seems to use a calculate and forget method of doing things. Your harvester does not "exist" in the game until you access it. Then and only then are the statistics on the harvester updated (maintenance, power, amount harvested).

I see inventory scans working the same way. When you access your characters inventory, SWG does a quick count on how many pieces of contraband you have. Then it totals this up and places this as a flag for your character (just like your race, cloths you wear, weapon equipped and your current tag). This value only needs to be updated when you close your inventory box.

Scanners simply read this "contraband" flag.

It doesn’t seem like it needs to take up huge amounts of server bandwidth or processing power.

Well Rexan, when I read it, alot of people wanted scan every person leaving and entering a Starport.

If that happened, even if it is just a single flag on an item, it can take a serious amount of server power.

I believe thats why he was saying it was not possible, to create all those scanning bottlenecks with the traffic that goes through them.

That's my point. Who actually transports more than a little spice besides smugglers delivering orders or stocking vendors?

I would prefer to have a completely separate system as well. How about explaining a little more about what you mean so I can tell for certain if we are thinking along the same lines?

I don't know, but I'd like the player to be involved at least, instead of it being pure luck. A system with multiple ways to get around a scan would be great, just think how proud you'd be after actually using some skill to get past some imperials.

LOL!!!

I laughed about that for like 20 mins...

I think ya did a great job San... and I totally understand why you wouldn't want to be in a postition where little children where screaming and crying at you all the time...

You did a great job supporting the community as a whole... just because 3 or 4 whiners didn't get thier way... don't mean jack to me... I know full well what this patch was and wasn't meant to be... nothing you could have done or said to the red "devls" would have made any difference on this patch...

Hey maybe we can hook up sometime on Lowca and kill some Imps... lol..

Okay as i am not a Master I am sure the great San will tell me to shut the **edit** up newb or some other lame ass attempt to be cool. But i have to do this.

So, he supported the community as a whole huh? If i remember right the poll had THIS forum higher in majority against the way the patch was being put in then that were with it.

So who was supported the community? The people trying to stop what the majority of this forum WANTED stopped? Or the single person that seemed to only care about the things that effected him and a few others.

Let me guess.. your a triple master also?? Big suprize you sided with someone that posts more constructive threads in the Pistoleer forums then in his own Smuggler forums.

I am one of the others that were against what this patch represented... notice the word??? NOT what it does... but instead the thealogical impact on the human mind and emotional system.

Man these people are dumb. This was NEVER about the Imperial Crackdown being a hit or miss. But rather that the Imperials get a free pass (and driods) to carry illigal items BETTER then the Smuggler. It doesnt have to be a major patch.

Infact think of it this way. If instead of the Imperial Crackdown they just decided out of the blue to say "Hey Smugglers can carry Kessel Run Spice(paraphrasing the name) through 80% of the cities on Corellia and tantooine. But Imperials and Driods can carry those items through 100% of the worlds.

What the **edit** do you think you would have said?? "Ohh okay ...i mean its not the revamp and I am sure the Imperials will understand that once ships are included the Devs will take those abilities away"

Yeah right. Listen to what these people have said instead of closing your mind the SECOND someone other then yourself spoke.

im a little confused on something . . .

apparently the "Pony Crew" have gotten their "panties in a wad" over the Imp Crackdown . . . or more specifically over high ranking Imp players being able to slip thru the Crackdown just "like us smugglers!!!!"

ok, call me crazy, but if the only players able to slip thru the Crackdown are smugglers, then what happens to our Slice 'n Spice biz? it would go POOF i would think.

it's crazy . . . before the Crackdown publish smugglers were freaking out becuase we were "gonna lose all our Slice 'n Spice business!!!"

and now that the Crackdown is live and it's readily apparent that it's basically a joke some smugglers are all panty wadded because non-smugglers can slip thru the Crackdown . . . but that's good for business; becasue that means we still have customers!!!!

so what am i missing about the Imp Crackdown publish that spells the future, unavoidable, and 100% certain doom for the smuggler profession? please enlighten me.

[EDIT: p.s. is there anything more pathetic on the internet than a forum thread that starts with a link or copy of another post made in a Private Forum?]

Article57,

And again someone that doesnt understand. I dont know about YOU but the so called "Pony Crew" or "4 Horseman" never seemed to be bothers by losing Slice and Spice buisiness... in fact MaxSteele and i think Kav both tested to see how the Crackdown would directly effect things... and found it wouldnt..

the Smuggler forum KNEW it wouldnt effect current sales enough to be a bother... if you didnt read that its not our fault.

The problem was ALWAYS.. ALWAYS an issue of future implications.

If Imperials can carry illigal items on their person. Then they can carry illigal items in the ships right??? Not a far stretch of the imagination... and it is certain the Imperials will cry for this since "They are the law!"

SO. What we were hoping for... actual player coming to use for Smuggling needs. Is now shot out he window because it is no longer a class defining moment. Our NAME is Smuggler. When someone thinks..

"Hmm i need to get this Moun Gold and 20 sets of sliced armor past a blackade... oh wait thatts right Joe Smart is an imperial. He can get it past them easy!"

Even if it only cuts our actual Smuggling posibility in half... it is still what this class orginally was supposed to be about and what most of us want.

you want to only deal with Weapon upgrades and Spices that boost your customers abilities??? Go be a Master Weaponsmith/Chef! I want to do what the class says i should do..

SMUGGLE.

And thats what this was all about. Not about buisiness.... but about what a class should be. A half assed Chef/Weaponsmith... or an actual Smuggler. We had a chance to actually get to Smuggle... but because of a Corrospondant that used personal opinions instead of what the community was wanting, we lost that chance.

So in the future we WILL be using Mission terminals to get Smuggling missions just like the bounty hunters. Go ask them if they are happier with these Mission terminals then if they allowed the players to actually call up bounties. I think you will find most are not approving of the Mission terminals system.

This is part of what the guys were fighting for... and a few people assumed it was because of some stupid "buisiness" crap because they didnt read the whole thing.

Umm... seriously... who cares at this point... I always liked San... you didn't... that is fine... your opinion... does not make fact... hate to tell ya...

Anyways... point being... The crackdown was a joke... I have a guild over 100 members... not one of them has complained to me about being scanned... not once... the STs in the cantina get killed before they can do anything.... and I have not seen one dam probot out "searching" for goods...

It's a joke... the whole dam thing... and San knew it was gonna be a joke...

I'll say it one more time... This patch was never meant for us... ever... at the last minute in development someone said... hey lets throw the smugglers a bone to get them to shut up for awhile...

San tried to let you all know that... you just didn't listen...

Besides... I think a "high ranking" Imp should be able to "get stuff through" because if it were real life... (which it isn't) a high ranking officer would be able to do things like that... he might get caught... but the chances would be slim....

So anyways... let it go now... San is out... and we have a new corspondent... We didn't "loose" anything because there was nothing to loose to begin with...

I have no problem with San as a person. Im not some tender skinned orphan that gets all insulted by his curse words... but he was a community relations person. Put there to support the Smuggler community as a whole.

The majority of people that spoke up (not just a few) didnt like the way it was heading. San however did, or didnt have the energy to fight and so he didnt truly relate what we wanted or what our concerns were.

As to the rest... god DAMN some of you are stupid.

This ... yet... again... is... not... about... the .... imp... crackdown... being... anything... other... then .... a joke!

it is about giving the imperials and droids the ability to carry illigal items.

So i am gonn ask you. And i want an answer.

How are you gonna feel when they include the Kessel run?? or Imperial Blockades... but Imperial ships can carry the same amount of illigal items and/or droids as well andget through to do the run?

This was about Smugglers getting the chance to Smuggle in the future for other PLAYERS.

We were hoping for something more then a stupid bugged mission terminal system like the bounty hunters have. Would we have gotten it?? We dont know...

but since Santsu didnt even really try... we never will know.

So when your doing Mission terminal delivery missions instead of Smuggling content for other players... thank San and yourself for not reading the whole threads.

If you think NOW the devs will take away the Imperial 100% immunity your fooling yourself. it aint gonna happen. not now... notin the Space expansion.
