PLease, let us do this puzzle. We could do great things. Really.
But you have to help us helping you. Someone has to quickly evaluate the ideas (in forum) and let us refine.What can be combined what can't.

I want to believe you. But I can't. We were told that this thing was in the bag with the exception of dialogue. Now you are telling us it is being evaluted.
I just don't think this thing is going in. I trusted you for a long time and now it just sounds like you are trying to scramble something together- all the while you've been telling us that this is your highest priority and that it's just around the corner.
Meanwhile, a ton of other things are around the bin. Like the new FRS- another profession you devoted a group of developers to or some new expansions. I want to see these things, but this is not Smuggling being your highest priority.
Even if we WERE getting the mission terminal type missions that would be SOMETHING- but I really don't think you have the intention of doing this.

Yeah... but could we also get some use for starships in, especially POB ships? It may just be my oppinion, but a lot of a Smuggler's business should be done in space... most of the Smuggling and all that. Especially in POB ships...these should be the main "cargo haulers" for a Smuggler. But first, of course, POB ships would need to beenhancedto be able to be used easily in solo play.

But yeah... my feelings at that POB shipsshould have a large role in being a Smuggler. In other words, you should never catch a Smuggler without one, they shouldbe an almost needed neccessity (I probably spelled that wrong >>

JFreeman - would it help if we gathered all of our best ideas on one spreadsheet and give them to you? I know we have masses of posts that would take an eternity to sort through.
If they go into their chambers, yes they will come out with crap.
But if they develope with us and ive input and - make it really (as in truthfully) a high priority - i could actually be worth something.
I don't think they have the gutts to do this, but it would work.
One guy with knowledge can change things in game fast(Blixtev and the BH missions as an example with the added creativity of the forums)
But it has to be more than a novelty and has to be taken serious by the DEVs and Management.
It would go a very long way in the MMO community as well - if SWG would do something like this with enthusiasm.

trying to disguise the fact we are smuggling cargo and using whatever abilities
we may possibly possess in order to do so, rather than simply walking down Park
Avenue with a grocery cart full of spice and giving the finger and a 'suck it'
motion to every law enforcement officer within 20 meters.

my thoughts on the npc mission givers, is that i wouldn't want it to be like a theme park kind of thing, where after doing 3 or 4 missions they are done with you forever. Jabba's always going to have stuff to smuggle in and out. the rebels will always need crates of weaponry smuggled past imperial blockades, so they need to have an almost mission terminal feel, where you can ALWAYS get mission from them, but yes, make them hard, and have your Underworld level determine what missions you can, and can't take.

maybe have a few NPCs around, like Jabba's Delivery and "Aquisitions" supervisor in his palace somewhere, and a similar NPC for Lady Valarian, and Borvo the Hutt, all established criminals in the game as it is. but basically make them sort oflike a Terminal, but everytime you talk to them, a new randomly generated mission would come up. Do the same for factions too. Maybe an Imperial officer needs some special "stuff" smuggled in, that technically isn't legal, but would help fight the rebellion.
possibly consider adding more factions, such as crime syndicates like The Black Suns, and i'm not sure if they are still around in this time period, but The Exchange from the KOTOR games.
I agree i would love to personaly go to jabba's palace and talk to one of his representitives to get a missions or which ever criminal bigwig I want to get a job from.

by the way, hopefully my posts here are not out of line. i've never been a smuggler, but just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, as you guys are GREAT, and have the patience of a saint. hopefully one day, SWG can realize the era of the Smuggler.
I nice start to giving the Smuggler's some content with an already in-place system could be to give us the ability to Slice Bounty Hunter Terminals to gain the ability to do their mid-higher level NPC (non-player) missions that can potentially get us some of this nice Smuggler Slicing loot that has been surfacing from the current BH missions.
